Personally, I perfer if attacks actually do have more realistic damage, first of ally, earth isn't a damage type, anyone ever been earthed to death by a rock? no you got bashed, it is a physical effect. It doesn't surprise me that the elements are basically wind, water, earth and fire, these arn't only the classic magical elements, they are Korean staples, read the Korean flag, that's what those 4 symbols mean.

I like 6 elemental magics with 3 elemental damages, Burning, Freezing, and Shocking, wile Wind, Water and Earth all do physical damage just like weapons, Bashing, Slashing and Piercing. Ice attacks may naturally do physical damage, because if your hit with a piece of ice, did it freeze you to death?, go stab yourself with an icicle and than come back and give me the answer. Of course your not frozen to death, you've been stabbed, piercing or bashing damage is what happens when you get hit by ice, your more likely to get frozen by a wave of frosty water than a chunk of ice. Furthermore, you can almost couple electrical damage to burning, since they have very simular effect, and just a different delivery, simular to water and ice.

There are very interesting ways to make magical attacks unique in comparison to physical attacks without using entirely different forms of damage, and it also plays into more interesting armor resistances, since much of elemental spells should be deflected just as easily with physical defense as magical defense.

i could have sworn 1 our testers had stated that there were 2 basic resistances as iyankj had stated and then there was fire,wind,water,earth,and holy dmg

Based on what I've read so far, I'm going with the above being correct.

Physical Resistance:
- Basic physical defence
- Resistance against these effects: Poison, Stun, Blind, Knockdown, Knocked into Mid-air
Magic Resistance:
- Basic magic defence
- Resistance against these elements: Fire, Water, Wind, Earth

The degree of resistance depends on the basic attributes of the class, the armour type and stats and various stigmas that might be used to offset/augment these, as well as titles that may alter basic attributes.

Each class has different basic attributes they start with, much like the 6 basic attributes in L2. These basic attributes determine these resistances to various extents, though I can't give exact figures like how +/-STR affects physical attack in L2.
