tech power up.
i guess not then. just someone has the same name as you

Wow...lots of conspiracy theories flying in here.

And who cares if the Dev's do program that stuff in for them. They made the game, they can do what they want with it. They are not the regular gamers like us. They don't have to play by the rules.

I don't understand why people cry about stuff like this. "No fair! The people who made the game get shortcuts and I dont!" qq

Yes they do have to play by the rules, that's what you don't get. Maybe if you have an entire team and the whole group that's working on the game decide to add some secret passages, but when one or two developers secretely sneak in ways to get things done quicker, then things go sour.

lol?

You have no idea of the direction of this thread. You make it sound as if it is for the developers only, players find these kind of things and abuse them. Thats why they are called exploits.

Well they could of done it on purpose and not done it on purpose. They can't exactly controll the game by just randomly putting items in their inventory so they could of set this up so that they could tell their friends n their friends do the same thing you did, but act it in an innocent way.

On FFXI, there was a notorious monster, named Absolute Virtue, which hadn't been defeated ever, and this 1 guy found out how to kill it by getting it kinda stuck (so long as the provoker or person it's fighting on is close) in part of the map, this also meant it couldn't attack, because to -it-, it'd be to far away and you'd keep getting "Absolute Virtue is to far away to attack", cant remember exact message, they defeated him and it was quite good, GM's said congratulations, but this was the first time it had ever been reported to be killed, no japanese had done it (and SE the creators are JP, so if it was diliberate for JP friends, they should of killed it), it then got patched about 2 weeks later, and you can't get monsters stuck now, they alternate their routes. or you lose your provoke on them. So it could of also been an accident. Who knows ey.

Fair is isn't the top priority, it is just a byproduct of the top priority, which is fun and entertainment, if it isn't fun it should be made fun, and being fair is also more fun for more people. I wouldn't skip the first half of Ocarina of Time just to play adult link and be more powerful, and I shouldn't be unsatisfied playing through the character development of an MMO just to get some equipment or increase in power.

I really don't think this is anything to truly be concerned about. For all you know those "secret passages" could be errors in coding sometimes even meant to be there. I know in WoW a couple of the old End Game instances had "backdoors" which enabled you to bypass certain mobs/bosses to get to the ones that may be more pertinent to what you're looking for.

But yes..for it to be an exploit it has to be something that no one designed to operate that way. When that happens it's usually discovered pretty quickly and corrected. For an exploit to exist long enough for anyone to TRULY benefit from it would be pretty hard I think. Usually news of these kinds of things spread pretty quickly.

Yeah I remember that, although on my server we had like 30 BLM's stand behind this one thing and for some reason they could nuke the **** out of it but it wouldn't attack them because it was too far away and couldn't get to them, so they nuked it until it died, which took a long time even with all those BLM's, and nothing dropped lol.

I think if GM's see stuff like that they should stop it and make them do it right, because things like that were obviously a glitch but the GM's would watch them and do nothing.

I understood perfectly well. You stumbled across a hole in the map. Did you use the exploit instead of reporting it? Then you accuse the Devs, who created the game, to be unfair for adding things into the game, that are most likely there for testing purposes.

I say, report it, it will get fixed (well, in most games it gets fixed, Funcom is a different story) so you can't use it anymore, if you're that concerned about it. Instead you use it to your advantage instead of bringing it up to the group that "Hey, maybe we shouldn't be here", then come here to imply the Devs of the game are being unfair.

I no longer play the game for your information due to that fact I have two 80's and im bored with the game as there is no endgame content. Many computer problems even with recommended specs etc etc . I just dont wanna waste anymore time on that game.

The exploit still exists by the way.

I've seen (and dealt with) the aftermath of developers caught with their hands in the cookie jar. That's one thing I never understood, why someone would be willing to tarnish the company's, games and their own reputation, not to mention jeopardizing their ability to put roof over head and food on the table, just for the sake of changing some lines of code in a game database. It's not something I'd be willing to do and neither would anyone on the Aion development team.

I feel a dev team needs to advance through the game the same way as the players with the same tools and abilities. No buffs, no shortcuts, no back doors.

thats crazy, i always thought things that like were urban legends. could you be more specific? i'm interested in knowing what they did, without saying names or anything.
