I for one, am chosing the Spiritmaster school of the Mage. I hear through the grape vine that its suppose to be a challenging school to master, but once you do can be very dangerous!

Another Elyos Cleric!

Although, I might be going Elyos Sorcerer. After playing AoC and DPSing on a healer, I've fell in love with pure DPS now. ;_;

Who knows, we'll see later. :P

You're not alone though there is a strong likely hood I'm switching to Elyos.

Dunno what this means, but Elyos has more Clerics, Chanters, and Templars so far o.o;

Let's see... Asmodians have more Rangers, Assassins, and Spiritmasters? Could there really be an inbalance between the factions?

In WoW, because of the talent trees, most classes could adapt to two or three different roles. If there is a shortage of one class, there are always other classes that could take over. There's no specific "healing class" or "buffing class" or "tanking class". Besides, the faction versus faction warfare could never take permanent effects, unlike Aion, which has these fortresses and such that actually affect gameplay for everyone else.

In L2, it didn't matter what race you picked because there were no factions. Most races branched out to classes with similar abilities anyways, especially the melee classes. It didn't matter if one race had more of one type of class than another.

I'm worried because Aion combines the faction warfare of WoW with this fortress system similar to L2. The fortress system can allow one faction to completely dominate another because now PvP can drastically affect the status of the server. Suddenly, if the servers become inbalanced because the factions prefer different classes, how would NCsoft solve the problem? If, for example, Asmodians had too many DPS classes for healers, and Elyos had vice-versa. Would NCsoft buff the support on Asmodian side and buff the damage dealing of the Elyos to compensate? I can see this becoming a problem, but let's wait and see the poll results, and the feedback from the Korean beta testers.

Well really, this is a very small sample size of the actual projected population. Statistically speaking, you couldn't even include this data because it's such a tiny fraction of the whole, and terribly biased.

Most people who are active participants of the forum seem to be asmodian, with a small number of vocal elyos. Then, the folks who tend to talk more often are the dps classes, which is why a lot of polls end up skewed.

In reality, the player base will be a ton more people. I'd wager a bet that all the fansites combined (at this point in time) don't even reach 5% of the end game population. When Aion gets closer to release, the ads will pop up, marketing will explode, and a ton more people will be drawn in. For example, most people who play WoW don't know anything about Aion until I tell them to go check it out. Even the F2P people (like my brothers) hadn't heard of it. THEN you also have to take into consideration that people, like myself, will be playing more than one. Some folks like to dedicate themselves to one alt... I have six level 70's in WoW, which are all decked out in tier or current season (not welfare) arena gear. I'll end up having a ranger to start, but bet you anything I have one of each by the time the game has hit its first anniversary after release. When the group needs a tank, log on the templar, when the group needs a healer, log on the cleric, when the group needs x, log on x.

In the end, polls like this are just for fun, and can't be used to extrapolate hard evidence to whether to buff/nerf certain things. The actual population will be more normal. There'll be maybe 30-35% of the population on both sides playing tanks, healers, and buffers, and the other 65-70% will be the dpsers. That's just how it goes. lol

I voted asmodian gladiator but I'm torn between Asmo or Elyos, haven't really decided yet, but I'm pretty dead set on having a gladiator as my main/first character and see how the game progresses for a month or so and then decide whether or not to reroll.
