Correct me if I am wrong as I have gone over the list of classes and races and I am kind of sad that they have no monk class. From what I've seen over the class choices, they are very MMO-standard and nothing sets the classes apart from the other run of the mill games out there. I wish they'd add a more unique class like a monk, in my opinion they're a very unique type of class that would go well with this game. So far, EQ2/EQ1 are the only places I've seen use monks/bruisers as classes. Plus, wouldn't it be cool to have wings AND be able to fly down and do a twirling kick on your enemy? I loved Monk Fae's in EQ2 Do they plan to add more classes with upcoming expansions? Last edited by baylie; 07-10-2008 at 10:22 AM. |

I believe they would add more classes, just adds more interest and keeps people playing. Not sure about a monk class, but Chanters have a really cool attacking style I would think of a monk using (at least a monk with a staff).

Yah, that's what drew me to Monks in EQ2 was how they attacked. It was so pretty. This game will pretty much be a replacement for EQ2 for me. I'll have to dig up chanter videos.

They shouldn't add a monk class or any new classes. I they do they better make sure the original classes are balanced and that the new class is balanced with those classes.
If they did add a monk class I guess it could be in the warrior tree. It has to have an incentive to play it besides melee dps because there are 4 other classes that do that as well as SM pets. I do not think it should be an advance class either. FFXI had a monk class as well so EQ isn't the only one. |

I think adding a sub branch to each section (i.e warrior, scout, etc) would possibly be as diverse as we would need it. So at the same time there's a good selection but not too many. I don't think we want to see another L2 thing going on (lol).

I know. My point is that the concept is already in. Most classes can already fit in any of the current achetypes. It's just that they went for the most generic styles at the moment. A monk is really either a chanter or an assassin (depending on how you see monks) with a weapon that looks, but does not necessarily act, different.

There is nothing wrong with the monk class but what would it necessarily ADD to Aion as a melee class? I could see it maybe doing skill chains with other classes for bigger effects like FFXI but that is it since all the other classes have things covered.

I say no to more classes, but talents are welcome. Now I'm not too sure what category monks fall into, I know of the FFXI one so I'll just have an example here. Priest -> Chanter -> Monk as a better melee-oriented priest and perhaps another tree to make the buffs better/more buffs. Hopefully you get my point

) I didn't read much into it because it was pretty self explanatory, or so I thought. I see chanter and instantly group it with mage/enchanter. EQ1/EQ2 native thinking I guess. If a chanter is more like a monk then I'd say everything as far as class choices seems fine as well. I guess I should have read their descriptions instead of assuming. Sorry guys. That was completely my fault. :/ Baylie ![]() P.S. Now I am superthrilled and know exactly what class I am going to be!!!! Thanks so much! I'm downloading a chanter video right now.. and this is the only text I could find on aion's main webpage:The Priest | Classes | Aion: The Tower of Eternity .. but I like it:Quote:

I'm sure they will find a way to add new class or even new race in the futur. Hay, they did it with Lineage 2, added 1 winged angel race. Never saw that one comming o.o |

I'd say monks also usually use light/cloth armor... relying more on training their bodies for combat (high vit and hp). Throw in some self healing abilities too.
