The journey is not what's important to me. Leveling is never fun, it's boring and basically a race to the end-game. End-game is where it's at, where the real lore takes place. Sure, you uncover things while leveling (except in the case of the Missing Diplomat), but all the really game-changing lore is done at the final level.

Two months sounds really good for hitting 50. I've got five 70s in WoW, and now I just can't focus when I try to level something else. It's so boring. Then again, with my end-game bias, of course I don't find the leveling process fun. It wasn't fun the first time, and won't be the next five times for the rest of the classes.

Yes, grinding rep sucks, that's true. Grinding instances sucks. But since I started with WoW, there was never a very big roleplaying faction, so character development in an MMO, to me, is gear. Now, if I'm playing AD&D, or World of Darkness, etc., then character development is life development, their experiences and such.

If they could combine the two, that would be great, but the online community is less adamant about the latter than the former, unfortunately.

Anyway, as long as I can hit end-game in a reasonable amount of time, then I'm all for it.

I doubt getting to 50 will take longer than 2 weeks

I don't quite think it will be that quick, even if you stay up through the weekends.

whats the reason for having so many lvl 70's if its all about the endgame. Why not just make 1 char and get #1 in arena rankings or get some really good guild istead of rerolling all the time
and especial when you dont like leveling at all why even bother rerolling?

Marty, you're not thinking 4th dimensionally!

Eventually, I'll have a max level character of every class. Then I'll be able to focus on one or more in end-game content, because I'll have truly finished with the beginner content. Because, let's face it, leveling up isn't so much about the grind as it is a chance to learn how your class works as you go.

And, besides that fact, I'm not just leveling one right after another. I'm spending time on my current end-game favorite during raids/heroics, and then going to another character to level it up in the off-time. I'm never on one character for long (except that time I had to farm 16 Primal Shadow, boy was THAT fun x_X).

Anyway, the point is flavor. Choice. The more characters I have at end-game, the more and different flavors of end-game I can taste. I despise healing (yet my Priest and Shaman were roped into it, Priest because pre-BC 60 meant you HAD to heal, Shaman because that was the only way to get a raid spot), I love DPSing (Mage, Rogue), and I have yet to try tanking (though I have a 70 Druid).

So, yeah. So I can experience different styles of play.

There are 2 ways to look at lvling: A means to an end or a journey.

The way people look at lvling will be primarily determined by the game itself. For instance in WoW, capping out was easily obtained and therefore it became the main goal of most of its gamers. In L2, most players including hardcore ones could not easily cap out, if at all, therefore you were forced to enjoy other aspects of the game on the way up. Both are fine although I preferred the L2 style b/c each lvl actually meant something when you finally got it but it just depends on what the game is about.

Since Aion is all about the end-game PvPvE it will likely fall more along the lines of WoW in the fact that getting lvl 50 will be easily obtainable with some effort and once you get there the focus will be on the faction war and possibly raiding although I don't think the raiding system will be quite as consuming and tedious as WoWs.

As long as the PvPvE system is well constructed and provides secondary objectives and goals within the PvPvE system (which it seems to) then it should keep us occupied for a while.

It was fast or slow (depend the beta time ofcouse.)?
don't forget there was content omitted in the betas that may enhance leveling times (they had better!).
