Well, Ncsoft, will not have real competitors at its release. aoc and warhammer are already getting their bad reputation...
I think we can say it.. Aion have great chances to know a big boom!

If you want a very strong marketing hit, release a character generator before launch so people can play around with character design options. Western MMOs can't compete with a solid, diverse character customization setup like Aion's already got. It's one of the BIG things missing from nearly every major western MMO.

CoH anyone? Not that I'm promoting the game or anything on purpose but they do have a pretty wide range of customization you can do to a toon. Whether it's as expansive as Aion have yet to be determined. Speaking of which, is it just me or is the amount of hairstyles very limited? Maybe it's just what people think are cool or whatnot, but there seems to be only a few out there.

I also had to tell my friends about Aion and show them the recent videos of gameplay because they haven't heard of it either. I do wonder if there will be commercials though .

good to hear. since WAR announced that they were dropping some of the big features in order to meet their launch (ie they are running out of money and need subs) that game has fallen down the charts. AION has had a consistently high hype level on MMORPG for several months. maybe not top 10 all the time, but top 20 and lately top 5. I actually think that SGW's could give AION a run for their money. with the backing of the scifi channel they are going to get a lot of exposure that just hasn't happened before even with the WOW TV ads, SGW is going to get more exposure. that said i think SGW is crap and is going to be an utter flop, mostly because they've limited what can happen both in the past and in the future as far as lore goes because of the time frame of the game.

It'll be nice to get info straight from the horses mouth, rather than having to translate it all.

Yep, nearly, not all. Besides, Cryptic developed it, but it's now a NCsoft game. Vanguard and EQ2 also had quite a few character creation options, too bad 95% of them suck and are total trash.
