how complex is a hairstyle anyway? surely they can start off with some sort of template, and just manipulate it a bit? it's hardly gonna break the game surely?
I reckon that one or two guys (one for 3D model? one for texture? maybe one for animation?) could do a hairstyle in a couple of man hours. there wouldn't be any need for testing surely? so they could make several new styles in a day, and then sell them in game a dollar a piece? and they'd have easily made a few thousand dollars, if not more, off that one days work? Am I missing something? is it more complex than this? cos at the minute I can't see why there can't be dozens of hairstyles to begin with.... (alternatively....what about releasing some sort of editor? and let us make our own? like spore, but simpler and just for hair ) |

Pay to play, not even a discussion. Not that I would normally turn down a chance to get something for free (who would? lol), but judging by the quality of the free MMOs out there...eew. And like someone else mentioned, $15 a month really isn't that much, and Aion most certainly seems worth it.

Quite simply, if aion uses micro transaction payments, I won't play it. Micro transactions where you buy in game items are simply unfair and ruin the entire game econemy, and take away any point in actually working on the game to get the stuff you want if you can just buy it, or everbody else does. Just as bad as buying in game currency imo.

forgive me, I'm new to MMOs, but imho:
Do you play the game to try to get stuff that's better than other peoples? or do you play the game cos playing the game is fun? If the reward of the game and the hours I put into it is nothing more than finally getting something that takes an age to be able to afford/acquire, it's not a game I'll be playing. The way I see it is; the game should be fun, levelling and earning new stuff should just help keep it fresh and interesting. this stuff shouldn't be the purpose of the game. So, if some people are willing to pay to skip several weeks of play time, where's the harm? it's their money, and their game experience, if they wanna do it that way why not let them? surely your sentence about the "point in actually working on the game" should read 'the point in actually playing on the game'? and the point of playing the game should be that you enjoy it. The fact that you see it as work shows a serious flaw in the game design. This is why I've stayed away from MMOs until now, it all looked kinda boring and pointless. Aion looks FUN. (sidenote: as stated earlier, the microtransactions could be for things that are purely cosmetic.) |

defo p2p. P2P tends to lock out all the immature and young audience. What makes games more mature. As well it is less ruined by scammers, hackers, flamers as they got their acc at stake, and would cost them bit sum of money. As well servers tend to be much better as well the game content.

no moar free to ghey. incentive = money = effort = progress = fun
If F2P games would get the same support as P2P (generally speaking) then sure, go F2P. But, I don't think we'll see it in this lifetime ![]()

Very surprising. Guild Wars made me very happy. Stop wherever I liked, come back whenever. It made everything so simple, and NCsoft kept everything going well.
However, the more I read, the more converted I come to P2P. I don't like the idea of paying, it really truly turns me off. However, with the added income NCsoft is surely to use it to maintain this wonderful looking game. The better it is, the happier I am! So, I think eventually I will fall to choose P2P IF it is necessary. Pay Cards FTW! They make everything easier...
