Ranger VS Price

It seems to me that Ranger is the most popular class so far among boys and girls. I know i'm a dork for worry about this (since I think i'm going ranger as well), but when there are too many rangers in the game, will the price of ranger gears and the rare items that's good for ranger price go crazy? After all everybody wants to be a top player with godly gears
Also when you are in a guild, I guess the wait list for a ranger item will be long~

Well, any dualwielder class is generally populair it seems. And considering there's always plenty of archers, it does seem like the Ranger will be popular. But as I just said, there will be people going for melee and others for ranged. Atleast if there's a system for that, which I'm simply assuming there will be.

About the price of ranger gears, we don't know how gear will be obtained yet. But I don't see why a class would have to pay more for the gear that's equally good. Maybe a warrior would pay more due to his armor being heavier, costly with materials or so.

Edit: If you meant the "price" of an item as in the stats it will have; my guess would be that there'd be 2 different kinds, one suited more for ranged combat and another for melee combat.

I think I saw a post about the same gears may have different status on different class, but I'm sure there will still be some class only gears. Either these gears will drop from mobs, crafted etc the price will go up when the needs of these items are greater than what's in the market. From looking at the class poll, ranger class out numbered other classes by far. =(

i think it's a little early to worry about this, since we have no idea really how the drop/item shop/crafting systems work, and most of these types of issues get worked out in the various betas

in general, though, even if there were many more rangers than any other class, their crafted gear wouldn't cost anymore in the end. higher supply then demand would create a price spike at first, but once people realized they can make more money by crafting items for rangers, they'll start producing more gear until the prices level back out. in other words, supply will increase to meet demand needs as long as enough raw materials are available, and the items sell for increased profit.

It really depends on how the economy is. The top levels in a game are usually balanced in quantity of each class. So there shouldn't be a problem for rangers getting gear at the top. Then right under those top levels where a large amount of hardcore players are, there usually isn't enough gear for them. If most of them are rangers than the ranger gear price would skyrocket, but by the time the casual players get there, those items would be worthless. Anyways depending on how the economy goes you can always make a ton of money just playing around with the market and economy.

It entirely depends on how Aion is doing they economy. If almost everything is crafted, with some being dropped, then you can expect a very big Supply and Demand reaction to be going on, but like osiric said new items always spike in price b/c they're new, rare to be seen and usually last as long as it takes people to farm the profitable material in large quantities, then to have people undercut them to sell their own materials faster, until the undercutting gets to a point that people will stop undercutting each other in a large way and prices will even out. Rangers especially if arrows will be limited (I hope they are, I never liked LOTRO's infinite arrow system) then Rangers will be a fairly expensive class, and depending on what types of gear they will need, rarity of it vs other types, but more than rarity is how many people supply the materials for it, the fewer the more expensive usually. But as was said before we don't know the rate of item drops, what NPCs will sell what if there will be an auction house in only certain cities, or if auction houses will be connected or not, which will be a huge factor of price, or if there will be no auction house at all (very wide price variations).

if you want to be a to play with godly gear why worry about there being lots of people on ur class. if you want to be the best ranger why worry about price. grind up some cash and buy ur crap or craft ur crap

no point sitting there thinking there are hundreds in ur class when u can say im in the top 3 of my class.

Yeppers, some of us, make that most of us, really don't have the time to grind eternally for hours at a time just for gear.

I'm personally trying to get far, far away from any system that promotes this, so hopefully the economy will be smart and so will the obtaining of armors.

I don't mean to sound all anti-ranger and all but...if you have wings why worry. Like the main reason rangers are so strong in other games is because it takes forever to get close to them cause you gotta walk(By then=swiss cheese). So if you can fly then you can cut down the distance easily and that takes off half if not most of the rangers power(range+r=ranger ).

On the other hand, if you are fighting someone and he tries to fly away, a ranger could throw a few extra shots whereas a melee user cannot =P Then again, I dont work for ncsoft so dont take my word =]
