For a game that places a large amount of focus on the aerial aspects of the world, I hope that the detailing is evident.

To clarify, I hope that there is a decent amount of ambience placed into the sky. I want this detailing to be comparable to that which we will see while walking on our feet. Of course, I expect and hope that a larger percentage of detailing is placed in those areas that we will walk through, as we have already seen, yet I want a decent percentage of time to be placed into the creation of a beautiful road of transportation--the sky.

I long to see birds, butterflies, bats, evil-flying creatures, those huge things that we see flying in various trailers, and more. I want to be able to fly through a sky that isn't simply devoid of life and imagination. I do not want want flying to become a bland and boring adventure. I do not necessarily want realism, I simply want more than a 2-dimensional sky that one can only look up at and see clouds yet never touch or experience them.

They are giving us the ability, so why not give us the enjoyment?

because it causes more load on the server, and on people's computers. During large-scale PvP as they mentioned on fortresses where people would be hitting lag walls and have choppy lag as your computer tries to render people on screen as well as keeping track of everything that everyone's doing, it'll be an excess amount of lag that no one would want. It would also be more time until Aion is released =((((

you really can't push them too much. You gave us flying, but we want free flight. You give us free flight so we want aerial combat. You gave us that, but now we want environment as well!

While I understand the perspective of being anti-this due to lag, I do not really believe it. The things that I am speaking of do not need to be millions of polygons in size. I just want something to be up there.

My goal of this thread is to spark interest, see other views on the topic, and hopefully get notice by the NCSoft peoples and perhaps have our ideas relayed to the developers. Even if they wish to pursue this, I am not asking for it at release, just simple consideration and possibility for its appearance later on.

There may be lag, but I am not asking for anything that would cause more lag than what would be found on the ground. We aren't going to be playing with our cameras constantly pointing up, are we?

Well we've seen big floating things up there already? So surely you can fly to them right? And about lag... if you lag too much upgrade your comp or something, if anything's added to the game itll create lag. So if you're against aerial content you're against expansions and pathces?

I was thinking, if they are flying around in the sky and we have the abilitie to fly what stops us from walking on it? Imagine it like a huge pvp platform?

Not if your fighting on its ase, then it cant! Maybe the chosen or fallen even use it as a transport, kinda faster than flying.

Mounts seem slightly worthless in a game such as this. I also hope that we do not have teleportation, as it would take away flying time. Regardless, that is all another thread... that I may start.

I dont mean mounts, something similiar to the goblin zepplin in wow, a transport that can hold at least 100 people at a time and is quicker than bog standard flying. Allthough i would actually love to see those dragons in my sig as a mount! You dont think they are the 3rd race do you?

Man, I hate to do this to a guildee...

They gave us flight, we asked for free flight...they gave us free flight AND aerial PvP.

As to lag...guys...there comes a point where the game makers can't be held to support equipment that's 2-5 years old. If they don't continue to improve on the games noone will want to play them. At some point it is reasonable for people to have to upgrade their computers. Lag sucks, yes...get more memory (2 gigs is the RECOMMENDED now) to deal with it. Turn down your video card. If you want the eye candy, invest in a better video card.

I don't want everyone one to have to have my system..but hell..I paid good money to have top of the line stuff and I want games that it can be used on.

Environment when flying...HELL yes! They've implemented weather...now why not clouds...OMG could you imagine aerial combat while swooping through clouds...or hiding in one to ambush someone or being ambushed from one. HELL ya!

Whats the specs on your rig? I suggested clouds before. So they are putting weather in as well, just imagine traverssing through a storm, black clouds, the rain and the forked lightning! That would be immense!

did all of you completely miss out the entire point of my post? My computer can run any game just fine Core 2 Duo 6700, 6 gigs of ram, and a 7950 KO which is gonna be switched out for a 8800GTX in 4 days. That still doesn't negate the lag wall when you have hundreds vs hundreds in large scale pvp. But whatever I'm gonna go back to lurking now since most of the speculation posts just seem pretty nonsensical to me. Anyways I'll see everyone in-game and be sure to look for the massive amounts of hate comments towards our griefing as well as the screenshots will be posted up on either the official forums or our clan forums. You can always count on us to break the game.
