Making an account

5. Once received, it will be in Chinese. The certifying link is the first one in the mail.

Email not received:

• First try adding sdo.com to your allowed addresses and/or make sure it's not in the blocked addresses.

• If that didn't work, repeat steps 2 and 4 here (1 and 3 in the picture), check your mail again.
Spam the button on step 4 here (3 in the picture), check your spam folder.
Repeat that about 10 times.

• If still nothing, give it a least 3 days and occasionally check your spam folder.

• If your excitement level is over 9000, make a new email account. You may even have to make multiple new
email accounts till one works. (Try Yahoo; avoiding
numbers in your email. Once again, make sure your using Internet Explorer).

6. Once certified, do step 1 and it should look something like this

If you must download through HTTP, you can download the client files from here(this client will be in Korean) only if the main site isn't working out for you. I recommend downloading all the data files one by one if you choose HTTP download and rename each to their proper names if necessary (see Verify client section for how to do this) before resuming the next data file download. Installing Aion (v1.0)

English Interface/Checking remaining time (v1.0)

2. Aion and its launcher should not be running. Place the enu.pak into the L10N folder together with chs.pak

3. Set your regional settings to English(US): Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7 or Alternatively download and apply this registry; Click yes when prompt. Make sure to set/apply them in the Administrator accounts too. Vista users may need do this in order to access their Administrator account. Usually you can access it on the log in screen after restarting into Safe Mode. Here's a picture that shows how your regional settings should look like in XP, maybe similar in Vista/Window7.

Remaining time will be displayed in game on the lower left side of the screen; in the chat box. However this may only appear if you've already purchased time/units for that region.

The time your spend at the character creation and selection screen IS subtracted from your remaining time.

Errors/FAQ

Before anything, restart your computer to see if it fixes things, ugH I know right?

? Your screen may not look exactly like the pictures due to Language Pack differences.

? If you want to be able to read certain parts of the game launcher and some of its error messeges, download this. Place it in the Chinese Aion folder and choose "Yes" if prompt to overwrite existing file.

? Slow patching? First, if the blue bar is trying to fill, your downloading files. Your verifying files if the blue bar is filled, but the orange bar trying to fill. If it's the download that's slow, the problem lies either on the server or you. Obviously if it's the server, your going to have to wait it out or you can download most of the needed files here(v1.2) or here(v1.0). And incase it's you; try restarting and then turn off all firewalls, protection software, unused programs, mouse drivers, external hard drives, speakers, cell phones, and pretty much anything you can possibly think of that's not required to download from the launcher. If verifying is slow, it's your hard drive you should look into, and it's also probably something you can't do much about...

? ENU.pak not working (v1.0 only): Delete the enu.pak, download and run Aion_Restore_113. Download these files. Unzip and put them into the Chinese Aion folder yourself. Launch the game, click Start, and I'll begin verifying and downloading the rest of the files. Once you can get into the in-game login screen in Chinese, close the game. See English Interface/Checking remaining time (v1.0) section for rest of instructions.

? Not English (v1.2 only): Delete the chs.pak, versionInfo_AION.ini, and fileListInfo_AION.dat. Download these files. Unzip and put them into the Chinese Aion folder yourself. Launch the game, click Start, and I'll begin verifying and downloading the rest of the files. Once you can get into the in-game login screen in Chinese, close the game. See English Interface/Checking remaining time (v1.2) section for rest of instructions.

? Grayed out regions(game zones) --> Aion_Restore_113

? Ariel = Azariel, and are both in North China(2nd region on list)

? Trial? Trial times range from 5-8 hours depending on the region. All you need is an sdo account for the trial. Also, not all regions use the same patch. If you accidentally downloaded a different patch and want to revert back, use this.

? You can switch regions(game zones) anytime through the launcher.

? 1st region listed on the launcher = 1st region listed on the cn-usa.

? No monthly or box fees, just download and pay for the time you play.

? The time you spend at the character creation and character selection screen IS subtracted from your remaining time.

? AFK will result in you being kicked from the game, this is probably to prevent one from AFK-ing there time away.

? Random crashes back to the desktop with no error messeges usually means that Gameguard encountered something it didn't like. These are usually stuff like your mouse drivers, any protection software, firewalls, etc... Disable and/or prevent these things from launching at start up. Basically, disable anything not required to run Aion before launching the game.

? Crashing after splash screen could mean you need DxDrivers

? Download interrupted --> This will happen if you have a slow/unstable connection and usually happens during the patching process. Close anything that might be using bandwidth and keep trying or get a faster/stable connection.

? "directx9 required" --> DxDrivers

? Game not launching (v1.0 only)--> Aion_Restore_113, run it, then try launching the game a few times.

? data errors --> 1. Go to Run > type "control folders" (no quotes) > OK. Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" 2. See Downloading/Verifying client section of your particular version.

? Gameguard errors --> Do this or this

? Display problems --> First, re-install video drivers. Then, post in the Basement if your still having the problem. You can also try searching the forum or Google for a solution to your problem.

? Missing shortcut for v1.0 --> Go to your CN Aion folder > create a shortcut of PlayNCLauncher.exe > right-click shortcut > go to properties > add a space after the last quote in the target field > add following code to the target > apply and your done

Actually, each region (game zone) lets you play for at least 5hours free with some that give 8 hours. There's about 12 regions, so that's 70+ hours of play time. You get 12 chances to test out classes for 5-8 hours.

Yea, it has its ups and downs. You can't really set up shop or anything. Time is counted when at the character selection and creation screen. Right now I'm loving it since I barely play, so 10 bucks will probably last be a good 2 months lol

You can switch from the launcher. Although I won't be able to tell you which one it is, since I don't read chinese lol. I guess you can go with trail and error. The one that displays your remaining time when you log in is the right one.
