why bring DPS glad over sin or sorc to PvE?
I'm very fond of PvP but it alone can't level you to max level
let's say there are no shortage of templars so you'd always be DPS this makes plate obsolete so why should a party leader chose gladiators over assassins or sorcerers to the instance? __________________ ![]() |

depends on the instance each one is different, one of them is even timed where the faster u clear the better rewards i believe so on that one u wouldnt even take a templar when i heard a glad can tank it just fine and have faster killing speeds. For the others u more than likely cant only take one mob at a time in the dung and if you do its gonna take a long @ss time to finish so glads are there to off tank the other mob/mobs and still deliever DPS and AOE

Survivablility is key i mean if u have a DPS in plate that can dish out almost if not as much as a leather DPS then it would make sence to take the plate so that way ur healer dont have to work so hard healing the MT and the squishy DPS that might happen to take some aggro

Ideal group make up: 3 glads 2 clerics. You read it here first.

Sounds like a War burn party in FFXI. This could work really well. None of the DPS needs to hold back to avoid getting hate, none of them are MT yet all of them are tanks. This seems like the best kill speed vs survivability group.

Hate to break it to you but 3 glads 2 clerics is a pretty poor group :\
In particular, why would you bring 2 clerics when you could bring one cleric, and one chanter, and get a very nice DPS boost? Chanter mantras and wishes, plus their extra personal dps would add a lot more to a group than a second cleric. I've even heard of chanters solo healing endgame, once people begin to get better gear, the cleric's healing prowess is no longer necessary since people take less damage and deal more damage, and people often opt to bring chanters instead of clerics for the extra killing speed. Then again it all depends on how difficult these new dungeons will truly be. Note that the faster you clear, the harder the end boss is. Gladiator could have serious troubles tanking some uber boss if you clear super fast, same with the chanter maybe not being able to heal for a super hard boss. We really have to wait and see how hard these new dungeons are before we know for sure. Maybe you will be able to hit the hardest boss with a templar and a cleric in your group, maybe you can only get to the hardest boss with a super dps group, but then can you kill it without a proper tank and healer? We just don't know yet. |

Honestly speaking though, 3 Gladiators, Cleric + Cleric/Chanter is a great party, considering that the Chanter rarely does any damage and that you need to figure out who the Master-DD is so the Cleric knows who to heal during boss fights. Also to add to the discussion of why to bring a Gladiator. High DD output on single target when Dual-Wielding, AoE damage in hard/dangerous situations that will otherwise wipe you out, Decent/Good Off-tank. __________________ ![]() Aion CN Region 2 Azurian - Gladiator - 42 |

Gladiator = damage dealer with survivability. This is the reason why you would choose a dps Gladiator over an assassin/sorc.

Why to you specify "DPS" gladiator ?
Do we say dps sin or dps sorc ? I mean even the tittle bothers me. Versatile class the gladi can fit two roles. The first dps, easy one since he was made for this purpose especially for AoE like a few people mentioned it here. The second as an off tank for badly handled pulls/adds/help ... In resume, you (of course) don't "NEED" one absolutely, it is a great help and you shouldn't base your group selection on a precise pattern. That's ridiculous. |
