Will tradition continue?
Will Gladiators continue to be the class in every MMO that's either 1) Overpowered 2) Sometimes better in tanking than a Templar themselves, or 3) Completely versatile.
I go for all 3. Edit: Which is why I'm going to be one.

I have to admit, watching that recent video on curse tempted me to roll a gladiator. However, I'm a caster at heart and will likely be cleric, sorcerer, chanter, or spiritmaster. Just waiting for more details about each to make a final decision.
They will certainly look flashy with their huge swords and polearms. |

I personally think gladiator might become the most frustrating class. When in a guild v guild siege that's got 100 people on each side, classes like Gladiators typically get sizzled pretty fast. They lead the charge, and are typically all gone by the time one side reaches the other.

![]() ![]() but i agree this could become a bit annoying, I was a warrior in WoW, and in the big battleground warriors would be told to "charge the enemy FFS!", we charge and died within seconds because of healers that didnt want to heal in PvP ![]()

I'm still undecided between Gladiator and Spiritmaster... I can just see some really disadvantages to being a Gladiator against mages whether in ground or flight PvP. I'll have to wait and see though.

Well, when you say it like that, it makes it sound like anyone can pick up a Glad and own with it. If that's the case then I'm going to be sad. A great tank (or tank support) is an impressive site, but reaching that sort of level comes from experience, and if people think they're going to dominate no matter what just because they're that certain class, then it's going to be rare finding a tank who knows what they're doing because of people ranking glads in the top tier.

I dunno about overpowered. Seems the heads on this game are looking at all aspects of what makes and breaks an MMO, and nothing breaks a game like nerfing constantly to equal things out. As far as tanking goes, in my eye, it always came down to play style, knowledge and capacity of the skills at hand, and good ol' equipment. If a glad is decked out in the right spots, sure, he can hang with the guards/tanks. But to me, I play the damage dealing class to do just that, and leave the tanking to the tanks, and those who want to do that.

If some of you have played L2, then a gladiator is comparable to a destroyer (in case we're talking about using 2-handed swords), which has it's cons and pros. It may have high pdef and lots of hp, but it probably will be slower than other classes so people can kite etc, but when you're near someone and you start bashing with your big sword it'll be bb for robe and light armor users. Atleast that's how I hope it's going to be.
