So is levelling with a GS viable or is it pole (or dual wield later on) or nothing?

They are very dangerous with all of their fears but I find that I hit them harder than sorcs.
Today I used cleave and greater cleave and one of them hit him for 700dmg.
Just have to be careful and use movement buffs to always be whacking him.

I know you're an Asmo but even so, the question still applies.

Personal Choice. I wanted to hit 50 before others did.
Running Draupnir full clear gave me 1/3 of a level and I decided that was too slow for me!

When your nearing end game, as often as possible. Get the best of the best.

Draining blow is VERY worth it. I found mines, so I can't say how much I would pay because I am not in that position but it is amazing.

I have but I think you will find better answers in the various DW vs 2H topics floating around in this gladiator forum!

The difference is the same as its always been. Polearms dont magically get more stable and Greatswords dont magically get huge pattack. If your at lv40 or so and think greatswords are better you will probably find true at 50.

Being able to grind to 50 means nothing, there is no skill in killing an NPC over and over.
Sigh

Please go post your personal beliefs somewhere else. Also, i only grinded 3 levels yet you call me skill-less?

just... sigh.

Do not post in my thread anymore thank you. I am here to help people not get in a flame war with somebody of your low caliber.

Leveling with a greatsword is totally viable! Just make sure it owns, and keep upgrading to the best weapon within your reach as long as its not too expensive and it does give you a good boost.

Alright, thanks. I think a greatsword looks more elegant with a female gladiator, as opposed to a polearm.

i've got a question

since i'm pretty new to this game, i don't know much about how different classes stand up against each others in PvP. (all i know is that assasins, or melee classes have a hard time in air battles)

I'm lvling my sorc right now (lvl 29) and i'm worried, cause i hear they are not so good in end-game PvP. (most of our important PvP skills have long cool down, and we have "long" casting time, making it easy for others to run away)
So i made a Warrior, but dunno if i should go glad, or temp.

So my question for you is: Are glads any good in PvP? What are the pros/cons? what classes do we own easily? and what class owns us easily?

-thank you =)

I will dare to say that gladiators hit the hardest by far in pvp from any melee damage.
On that same note, a sorc hits even harder. I think if you go sorc your pvp life will be a breeze, they are very powerful currently and do not have alot of hard matchups.

You own any class that is willing to let you hit them longer than 5 seconds, and you will have alot of problems wiht ranged kiting classes. You need alot of dispell pots and running speed scrolls, etc.

Takes alot of work to defeat them but it is possible.

A guy in my legion who used to play on the chineese server claims it's better to have Attack+ socketed instead of Crit.

I would like to hear some more about this before I resocket all my gear.

Yeah as a dps class we need crit as much as possible to increase our dps.
A person with no crit socketed will have very very low crit chance, while a full crit spec will get up to about 44% chance to crit.
It can be debated that getting higher attack will increase your damage up towards near critical hit damage, but it fails especially since we are gladiators because we rely on critical hits getting us knockdowns.

I highly advise against attack until you reach soft cap crit.
Then spec whatever you feel is best.

Hi, I would like to find out about your view on gladiator tanking in the game, especially end game in particular as you have experience in it. How viable is it for a gladiator to tank, because in mid game (30s-40s), we seem to do fine in a pinch. Given the typical 2h crit build with decent gear, how is tanking (e.g. elite grinding, 6man instance bosses, world bosses, fort generals) like for us?

I understand that you run with a static group which should most likely consist of a templar tank, and might not have much experience in tanking. Still, your frank opinions on this will be appreciated. Will definitely give us an idea on how far we can go in this class role and clear up some ambiguity that the devs left us.

I killed the zombies outside of the Adma Stronghold. They rarely auto attack and always seem to charge up a "Strike" move, and then finally a "Curse" move. They also have low hp and I find that I knockdown alot on them though I am over cap crit. The curse reduces your max hp and mp and renders magic potions ineffective until it is over.

You need 43 I think to even enter draupnir, and to do the campaign content it requires you to clear the room right before the final boss which would make the instance if your running with like 43-45 lvl people take around 5hrs+

I think I will edit my original post!
I tank for our group most of the time, but I find that in Dark Poeta, which is the final instance is really the only place I have real problems. I have tanked it before though and just suffer a few deaths when I do but we never really wipe and I must honestly say its not because im a gladiator that I die sometimes. (One of the Dark Poeta Bosses crit me for 10,700HP which was my hp at the time, so it was most likely an insta-kill move).

The real reason why a templar is better is because they have skills that can save the situation if your cleric is unable to heal. Iron Skin, Empyrean Armor and other block skills can make you last a long time before you get drained. Also, Inescapable Judgment makes some instances like Draupnir Cave a breeze because you really can't pull efficiently any other way.

We can tank alot of things as long as our gear is GOOD. A gladiator is only as good as his weapon and gear in this game, so don't even try tanking without a few golds endgame.

Your character holds the normal combat stance, and your spear glows a bit red..
Then, your character glows golden, and he, using 1 hand, baseball swings the spear once, and then takes a step forward to do a second swing with the momentum of the first. Pretty cool.

I have not been fortunate enough to get an extendable weapon.
I really wish I had one however.

Click on my Character Link under my username and it will link you to my profile. You can see which stigmas I have equipped on the bottom right hand side.
