Chanter a very offensive class !

hi you chanters i found this interesting video which is a very important one for those guys who might have thought that chanter are stupid buffers with no actual pvp chance.

Yup, classes are balanced well so it seems. Your chance of survival will eventually depend on your own skill rather then what class you choose.

Thanks for the effort it took to find the video, but you don't need to spam every class forum with a thread and/or video. We have a whole forum dedicated to videos, you should use it next time.

i know that i did this so that it will be easier for each class to find some usefull videos if needed than meaby some could tranfer them but i do not think it's necessary

the video was god but that kinda how cleric/healing classes work they outlast there enemy. =^.^=
The dancer was healing for quite a bit 400+ in some cases

how does that show the chanter is an offensive class when it was clearly keeping itself alive the whole time? doing little dmg to the glad and at the end obviously loses.

just because the chanter can spam one nuke and heal itself decent enough to withstand a couple barrages doesnt mean is going to own at pvp or be a dps class...the video clearly shows the opposite.

it was also a 1v1 video in a group pvp game, the game is not based off 1v1.
sure being a healer in 1v1 has its advantages vs a bad to decent player but once you fight someone thats better then you or you just plain get out played, you lose.

it looks like a weak offensive class to me and supports theorys that I have (which have been argued in another thread) that this will not be a dps role class.

This is true. However, he obviously blew some sort of cooldown achieving this and once the Glad gets down to it starts to rip the chanter a new one.

I'm getting seriously ticked off at you. You barge in on all of the Chanter threads and insist that you are 100% correct. I'm sick and tired of it. I'll admit that in real life I am a bit of a know-it-all, but even I don't claim to be the master of all Chanter knowledge. Aion is a game of firsts, and Chanters are in no way meant to be a healer as you so ignorantly claim. They are a swiss army knife. You may hate the idea of a hybrid. Most of the people playing Chanter love the idea. We will play the way we want to play and enjoy crushing the team you are on because you are too specialized to help them out when they get in trouble. If you want a one trick pony go play a cleric.

Oh really? Aion a game of firsts huh? Sure you dont wanna take it back and edit that post before I rip you apart like I've done to everyone else this far?

No way its a healing class huh? Even though in the video that was just post he healed the crap out of himself, or was that just an over-powered bandage skill they get?

Swiss army knife ill agree with, they're going to have heals and buffs with a small amount of DPS skill and some CC to solo and group with...thats it....thats not exactly a swiss army knife type at all but close. gj chief.

They are in no way going to have a main DPS role in a group, I guarantee this. People(like you) who think otherwise are blind to the fact that the rest of the classes are dps except 2, the templar and cleric. They dont need this class for DPS at all...it doesnt make any sense in the game mechanics. They need a class to buff and support either the tank or the healer in a pve situation and have survivability and support the group with CC, hot's and buffs (im assuming) during a pvp fight. Much like the prophet did in L2, the chanter is an OBVIOUS play off that class, its something that was well liked utilized and praised about in Lineage 2 (you know that other MMO NCsoft made) and they are brining it to Aion in the form of a chanter.

You saying Aion being a game of firsts is like a mentally challenged person claiming they can go to the bathroom without someone having to wipe their ***. So far (and this is comming from beta tester reviews ive read) the game is like a cross between world of warcraft and lineage 2. I havent seen anything dramatically new in any video ive watched thats made me go "wow thats a lot diffrent then other MMO's ive played". It looks like WoW with realistic graphics. Theres nothing "first" about Aion, it might be the first graphically genius MMO with great playstyle..but thats it and thats something we've all been waiting for. So good job claiming that.

I think people like you who picked the chanter are hoping for it to be one of two things:

An underplayed class that no one plays so you can have the "least played class cool factor"
or *shudders*
You wanted to play a healing class to DPS with..which really defeats the purpose of playing a priest archtype class, thats not why people are going to want you around in a group with 5 other classes to choose from who can DPS plenty more then you.

If you look at a game like WoW, which was ruined by hybrid classes you will see why NCsoft will not follow that.
Everyone who rolled a druid, shaman, paladin and priest picked the DPS trees to be for that class. Very few smart and skilled players that were left chose to play those classes as healers. I can recall thousands of times grouping where ive looked for a healer and gotten a reply from one of those classes that they were down a DPS tree...rendering them pretty much worthless. The only good hybrid DPS class in WoW imo was a shadow priest and it was only good for being a mana battery, which is a lot better then what the other hybrid classes could do in their DPS trees. Granted, there were exceptions but very few, only the good players stood out. NCsoft will not make this mistake.

When it comes down to it though in all realistic vision and the way the mechanics of this game are set up I cant see this being a main form (or any form) of DPS in a group, if you are choosing this class to DPS, please go roll a REAL dps class. Or play AoC, the mechanics of that game allow the healers dps skill to heal the group..its real cool but its not whats happening in Aion.

I have seen no video or statement about this class from beta testers that say this class is for DPS, its clearly not.
The video the OP posted above proves it. If you've never played a healer before and pvp'd thats exactly what it looks like.
