Scaming
i havent see if someone else have post allready a similar thread but i want to put a matter on table and it has to do with game scamming and how NC soft resapwn to that. i know from L2 so many people that their acount got scammed and they never took the items that lost back. the only answer from NCsoft in their mails was that we are going to take care of your issue and bull**** like that.and if you went to ask them a IP from pc that the last trade took place their answer was: O sorry but we cant provide you with this information , you have to speak to your local authorities . alltime this kind of crap. i dont know someone that took his items back after he got scammed and i play L2 3.5 years.
so what is going to be in this game? are they going to act like this also? wi5th that arrogand attitude? thay dont care the hours that someone spent to lvl and make his items. is it gtoing to be safier and not possible to get scammed? anyone have a clue? if the issue that i post is borring and not important plz let me know. ![]() |

Getting scammed when trading or such is really stupid. Either the scammed person is a noob, or he is an idiot or just too lazy to do some research before selling/buying. Noone can take anything without you accepting anyways, so why should GMs help.
As for the scammer, he is obviously an asshole, but its his choise to be one if he wants to. Its not a crime that warrants a ban imo. Just talk crap about him in general and /ignore ![]() Same goes for getting hacked and such. Be careful with your acc/pass and stuff and it likely wont happen. Just dont be an idiot and youre fine.. ![]() I think the GMs feel the same way and thats why they ignore such complaints.. |

Truly I would side with NCSoft if this issue was brought up.
You gave away your acc+pw your fault. You didnt research prices and then got scammed, your fault. There is no way you can blame NCSoft for your incompetence or stupidity. Safest way not to get scammed is not to be a total moron... |

Oh wow. OP, your sentences scare me. Use proper English please. Your text is unreadable, but it seems to have to do with having items stolen from your account. The only way that can happen is if you give your password away, right? I'm not impressed.

He was asking about if he got his entire account scammed away from him(as in he gave away info in a trade of some sort and got scammed) and lost everything. He then contacted the support for L2 and they told him that they couldnt give him his things back. So he is now asking if they will be assholes in Aion too....
He is also saying that it is complete and utter bullsh*t that they didnt give him his items back after he gave away his info in a trade and got scammed, AND that when he asked for the other person's IP (the one that scammed him) they refused to give him that information. Lol, he is a funny person... Quote:

Keyloggers would only really matter if you shared your computer. And if you do share your computer, it's often with friends and family, right? Would they steal your L2 password?
Perhaps you think you got a keylogger from some malware/spyware. Most hackers or viruses that would infect your PC with a keylogger aren't looking for your L2 password. They want credit card numbers. Anyhow, for the record, I shared my GW account with my little brother. But he's family, I trust him. Who are you sharing your accounts with? People you never met in real life? People you think you know? That's a bad idea, and it's not really NCsoft's job to clean up behind every player with bad ideas.

If your account is stolen by some friends knowing your password, tough luck. If you lose your account because of a keylogger (or any other loggers and password readers), DAMN!, you're stupid bud. In both cases, demonstrating with hard rock proof that it wasn't you or some friend of yours that willingly transfered the items to try to scam the GMs is very hard. + it's hard to track all the petitions of stolen items every day from like 100 players and act accordingly for each one.
So follow 2 simple (+1 optional) rules and you will avoid all the trouble: 1. Get Kaspersky Antivirus to kep those keyloggers away. 2. Don't play from internet cafes, if you go to the same very often, some administrator might steal you account through a keylogger. Optional rule: don't share your password with anyone. My 2 cents. |

I know that Blizzard restore items and characters if you delete them or you get hacked. So maybe we might see the same thing for Aion. While I feel sorry for the people that get hacked, I have to say it's their own fault. 100%. No discussion.
1.) If you get a keylogger you've been most likely looking for hacks, cheats or bots and fell for something stupid like www.downloadlineagebots.com.kr.cz 2.) Do not play from an internet cafe. Just don't. Nono. 3.) If you get your account scammed cause you bought gold and the goldseller told you he'd pack the money directly into your account or something along those lines... sorry. Your fault. 4.) If you fall for things like "Hey, you can participate in Beta! Send me your account and password and I will unlock you!" you should go outdoors and get some life experience 5.) and so on... The only question NCsoft has to ask themselves in this regard is "Will we loose the player if we don't restore his stuff" and "Will it be more expensive to restore his stuff or to loose him as a customer?". And if it's more expensive to restore, I fully understand if they don't. The only time they "have" to do something is if accounts got hacked cause of their fault. |

Having played L2 for around 3 years, I have seen a lot of different scams. The Price / Quantity scam. The Item Icon scam (think A Crystals and Soul ore). The Let me OE / try on your gear scam. This list goes on and one.... Most scams prey on new players, but even a veteran get's fooled once in a while. The name scam can be the easiest to fall for. They will create a toon with the same appearance a very similar name to your Clan/Guild/Legion leader. Then try to get you to give them money or gear. The 'I'm your friend's alt' is similar.
I got burned once by one of these. I was not a noob. I was tired (long day at work, combined with a long grind session took its toll). In addition I swear the scammer was from my clan. He/She knew too many things about not only my clan leader, but myself and the clan. Scammers are low-life bottom feeding scum in my opinion. Part of the problem is in-game economy, as well as RWC trading, gold buying, etc... Given that rarely more than a few days go buy without news of a scam of some sort on your evening news (I live in Florida and the elderly are often targets for scams), it is no wonder that NC Soft (and other gaming companies) take the positions they do. While some would blame the victim (in-game or RL), I do not. I blame the scammer. Simple scams can be easy to avoid. But some are more complex and use multiple toons or scammers. Not all of them a easy to spot or avoid. Especially if you are not a suspicious or cynical person. A naive, honest, good natured person that believes in the goodness of humanity make the easiest targets. I was a Master at Arms (Navy version of an MP) for almost 4 years. I saw a enough RL nastiness to last a lifetime. Bad things happen to good people. Games tend to emulate real life in some aspects - crime included. Thieves are another aspect of the problem. These are the ones that take the items from your account. Never let a 'friend' or clanmate use your account. They say they will power level your toon while you sleep or go do something else. You get back and you are wiped out. They take everything that can be sold or traded and vanish. This is the one where I place at least some of the blame on the victim. No matter how often it is repeated - "Do not share your logon and password with anyone" - some people do it anyway. This happened to a clanmate in L2 - in the end we found out he was using a power leveling service, and when they were done power leveling him, they cleaned out all of his toons on the account (on every server he had a toon on). And he PAID for it. There is a god, and does he/she have a great sense of humor or what... Just my take on it. Your mileage may vary.... |

I think people are a bit to quick when using the words "scammed" and even "hacked". 99% of the cases I've seen over the years are always the players own stupidity, if you get a keylogger on your PC, that is NOT NCsoft their fault but only YOURS for not protecting your PC enough (there are TONS of free protection softwares available, it doesn't even cost you anything), all you need to do is a bit of research, you don't even need any other knowledge for it.
If you lose items because you gave your account info to a "friend" then all I will do (and what Ncsoft should do) is have a good laugh at you ^_^ Quote:

theres a simple technique to use if you dont want to be scammed.
STOP BEING SO F*@#ING STUPID ive never been scammed in my life, had many people attempt it but just PAY ATTENTION to trades and the like and its so easy to spot if you get a keylogger on your pc, the chances of the hacker stealing your game account is so unbelievably low, its almost non-existent, generic keyloggers go for credit card details as mentioned above by Mark, if you actually get a keylogger on your pc and someone steals your account, you must have been looking at hacks/cheats/exploits for said game, in which case you deserve to be keylogged. but 99% of the time its becuase you were stupid enough tell someone untrustworthy your account details. Quote:
thinking about it, i may have just come up with a equation for scamming... (STUPIDITY / SCAMMERS) x NAIVETY = % PROBABILITY OF SCAM ![]() |
