Actually, I rolled most of my toons on Siel as Asmodian, and I did not encounter a single bot. It was only when I rolled an Elyos on Azphel that I saw a bot in the starting zone pounding away on mobs.
But seriously, I've been through almost all of the first two starting regions, and not seen a single bot on Siel Asmo side. __________________ ![]() [...and they will respect a line drawn in the sand more than forgiveness] |

prolly because the bots either reach lvl 5 in 10 mins then start spamming, or because they out level the starting zone in an hour and never have to restart cause they dont get banned.

Yes, but if that were the case, since I have played 4-5hrs per night on the last 13 out of 14 days on toons under level 20, you would think I would see one pass me by, no?

Regardless though, in the starting area, it hardly matter which class it was. Actually, to be technical there is no level 1-9 Assassin or Sorcerer...haha, but who cares. My only real point was that level 1-10 is quick enough to negate much benefit to botting, so it seems alot of people dont bother to bot till later. I have seen one or two bots in Poeta but nothing like I see in Verteron and Elten so far, and as I understand it, the bots get even worse in the higher level areas. |

I assume Blog Monster has never been outside Beluslan Fortress. Either that, or he's completely blind. Bots are extremely easy to identify. We have LOADS of them on Telemachus.
Both gold selling farmer bots and normal players botting. |

Nope, there are 10 channels for a player's bot to be hiding in and they're only going to be in that zone for 2 days tops before they move on. Luckily for you the gold farming bots, which are the biggest problem, are mostly lvl 35+ and you'll never run into them at your speed

I suppose, but there's only five channels in the region with Altgard in it, and I frequently have to swap between them all to avoid other questers... still never seen a bot on that faction and server, >.<
I am trying to be encouraging here, but it seems even on this forum (came here because the official one is full of people spamming pictures with content inappropriate for a work environment), few people seem to want a gleam of hope on the botting issue and would rather point out the worst rather than the best, even when someone points out how they've leveled nearly a half dozen chars to nearly 20 and not seen one bot on that particular faction/server. Oh I am sure I will not be lucky enough to avoid or somehow miss them once I get into the higher level areas, but at least a player who rolls a new character on my server and faction, has a higher chance of getting to enjoy their first week or two in the game without running into bots. ![]() __________________ ![]() [...and they will respect a line drawn in the sand more than forgiveness] Last edited by Mendolus; 10-23-2009 at 12:13 PM.. |

Alex Sadkin (Florida 1949 - 25 July 1987) is best remembered as a record producer in the early 1980s, but actually got his start in the music industry as a saxophonist for the Las Olas Brass in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Sadkin grew up in Fort Lauderdale across the street from Bennett Elementary School, and played saxophone in Sunrise Junior High School and Fort Lauderdale High School. He attended Florida State University in Tallahassee where he played bass guitar with childhood friends Lyle LaBarbera (rhythm guitar) and Jim Hendee (drums), and singer Phil Turk. He eventually received his Bachelor of Science degree in geology in 1971. After graduation, Sadkin worked with Jim Hendee at a sea turtle farm called Mariculture, Ltd. on Grand Cayman Island, where they both lived on Seven Mile Beach, a few miles from the town of Hell. During their six months of living and SCUBA diving there, they got their first taste of playing reggae at several clubs around the island. When Sadkin returned to South Florida he began his recording career. He was first trained as a mastering engineer but eventually moved into recording studio work as a "tape-op" (Assistant Engineer) at Criteria Studios in Miami, Florida. He got his first big break after impressing Neil Young with his mixing ability, and he eventually became head engineer at Compass Point Studio in Nassau, Bahamas. He worked alongside Island Records boss Chris Blackwell on many of the label's projects, most famously with Bob Marley & The Wailers, including the seminal Rastaman Vibration. A full member of the Compass Point All Stars from day one, he began producing artists for Island Records (Grace Jones, Marianne Faithfull, Robert Palmer, Joe nyerker), while doing mixing work for other labels (Talking Heads). Among the other artists he produced in the 1980s are James Brown, the J. Geils Band, Thompson Twins, Classix Nouveaux, Foreigner, Duran Duran, Simply Red, Arcadia and Paul Haig. Alex Sadkin was a mentor to engineer and producer Phil Thornalley, who would go on to work with The Cure, Johnny Hates Jazz, and Natalie Imbruglia. He had a special gift of being able to sense and analyze an artist's inner creative abilities and talents, even if the artist couldn't. Composer-keyboardist Wally Badarou had this about Sadkin: "His dedication to maintain genuine 'mixes in progress' from the word go, was a great lesson. I made it a system for my subsequent production from then on." Sadkin died in a motor accident in Nassau at the age of 38, shortly after completing production work on Boom Crash Opera's eponymous 1987 album, and just before he was due to begin working with Ziggy Marley. The Duran Duran song "Do You Believe In Shame", Robbie Nevil's "Gone Too Soon" and Grace Jones' "Well Well Well" are dedicated to his memory. Also Joe nyerker's album Unchain My Heart (1987) is dedicated to the memory of Alex Sadkin. |

Just to clarify for anyone who might be confused... bots are not the toons you see out there grinding incredibly efficiently. They're the toons doing stuff so incredibly stupid (and sometimes inefficient) that it's highly unlikely there's a real person behind the toon.
A bot will ignore any mobs outside their programmed area and just stand there. Some bots will try to killsteal when it's completely obvious they don't have a chance in Hades but other bots will back off the minute another player starts attacking their mob regardless of whether that other player is likely to successfully killsteal. Bots will not say anything, or even target you out of curiosity, when you follow them around or jump up and down in front of them. TL;DR: Bots aren't being confused with efficient grinders, and I'm tired of people saying: "ZOMG I bet everyone thinks I'm a bot cuz I'm so awesome!" __________________

This is because bots almost always bot in places where quests don't take you, or in places where only unpopular quests take you. Gold selling spam bots only bot in the 1-10 area. Normal botting players usually don't start botting until they release they need to grind to level (usually past lvl30). Gold selling farmer bots are not below lvl30 anymore. The bots have waypoints designed specifically to avoid as much contact as possible with other players (unless the person behind the bot is stupid). Bots don't quest, they grind. So they don't need popular mob places, they don't need easy mobs either, clerics/chanters are **** easy to bot, so are templars and to a lesser degree gladiators. There's a reason why you barely see any ranger bots, there's no ranger who either doesn't jump shoot or at least move when in combat. There are **** ton of bots around... Check out beluslan fortress. ALWAYS at least one bot there, as that is the best place to bot at lvl30, considering there're no aggressive mobs around that fortress. So if you want to find botters to report, go there. |
