I do agree that some of the people who are shouting "ZOMG BOTS EVERYWHERE!!" probably just assume everyone they see grinding is a bot. I haven't seen many bots but I'm not very high-level. I'm not sure if people run bots in the abyss but if so at least they're easy kills.

I actually had to log in because I wanted to respond here lol..

Are you kidding!? How high have you taken a character? I just made a new one last night, and even the starter areas have them.. although it gets MUCH worse the higher you level. The bots haven't been banned, so now the bulk of them are in their 30s to 40s or so.

You must not have seen much of the world at all if you haven't seen bots. As someone (possibly more, I didn't read the last page of the thread), outside of Beluslan, and branching out well past the next 2 quest hubs, are absolutely covered with bots. On an average night, I might see 50 people, and only 5 are real players.. it's amazing.

They have even formed legions now!!! They are so confident in NCSoft's lack of counter-botting, that they are actually wearing tags to identify each member. I saw one group of 6, all on auto-follow, who named their Legion <Robots> ... seriously? Robots? It's turned into an absolute joke.

I've noticed that lately, they are farming gathering nodes now too.. and they no longer don't attack mobs that you go after, they rush over and try to out-kill you.

The bots are bad.. and if someone actually hasn't seen any, you must not have done much in game.. because they are everywhere! o.O

Here's a simple concept you might understand. If you are looking for something, you will usually find it. If you avoid it or engage in activities that take you away from it you are less likely to encounter it.

To stick your head in the sand and ignore reality will not solve anything. Should people be forced to change the playstyle they prefer to avoid the bots?

I avoid bots easily by going to the abyss, but I enjoy the abyss in general. Morheim's bot count in Vaizel has gone down though.

I see bots all over the place post lvl30. That's not because I'm paranoid, that's because I know how they work, how it looks when they move and attack mobs. It's very easy to identify them by just looking at them.

The easiest way to identify a bot is to aggro an agressive mob and pull it within the target area of the botter and let the botter attack it. Then you pull the mob and thus the botter away from you, do that a few times and I guarantee you that's a bot if he/she follows the mob you've aggroed. No player would constantly do that over and over again. You can do it with non-agressive mobs as well, not all bots have killsteal detection. But for those bots that do have it, you just use agressive mobs. Doesn't count as kill steal for the bot then because it hasn't registered the mobs hp as less than 100%.

The reason you haven't seen many bots is just that, you're not very high-level. It's just as you say. Most of them are in the lvl30-45 bracket. Mostly post lvl35.

I try to ignore them you know, but they downright kill steal you and its hard to ignore 7 of them running around killing all the claws.

Also your character is level 18, you havent seen the worst of it yet.

Agreed, but I have not changed my play style and do not really plan on it.

I have seen far worse than having to deal with a few dozen bots running around. That's a rather trivial problem TBH and there are areas the bots cannot go to, so that's where you head if they are thick in the areas you needed to go.

The Mosbear Habitat comes to mind, and I am sure there are plenty of other areas like that in every region. A human player can easily navigate the multiple pats and high spawn rate, but not a bot.

You shoulda seen the first few zones for two months after TBC dropped, you couldn't kill a named quest mob to save your life without being either A) ganked or B) ninja'd, and those were all (seemingly) human players, and no that's not my only reference nor game to refer to but TBH I'm tired of reading forums for fantasy MMOs.
