You claiming that Aion goes offline in a year? I'll take that bet.

At the moment there is a huge influx of new players subscribing because of the new ad campaigns. CoX isn't getting canceled anytime soon.

I played TR on a trial and I have to say I really liked the game. Sad to see it go down.

Even as we speak deployment 15 is going to to go to live server soon for TR too : that is a huge update which will enable us to go back to earth , no less. The amount of updates doesn't mean anything in NCsoft-land. Even the fact population is growing doesn't mean anything.

And they did in fact pour a lot of resources into TR ( including a new head developer, new staff etc. ) just a few weeks ago . I wouldn't count on their information being correct .Just last week we were assured they'd never pull the plug on Tabula Rasa . They apparently even didn't inform the dvelopment team of their plans until maybe 1 or 2 days prior to the decision . TR's numbers are growing as well, so that fact is also by no means a guarantee . Like I said : it appears to be a new policy of cutting loose western market based studios . You can even pinpoint when this started ( with the restructure and the creation of NCsoft-west ) . Rumors are sugggesting they created that entity to now get rid of all MMO's which didn't live up to their expectations .That means none of those titles can be considered safe because we have no insight in what accountants' expectations were .

My suspicion is they planned to cancel TR when they created NCsoft-west and subsequently lied to both the player-base and the developers . But I'm beginning to wonder now what the mood is like at NCsoft west and what all those other developers are thinking . I wouldn't want to work for NCsoft at this time ( or ever ) considering how untrustworthy they are . That is now visible for all to see.

I truly hope Anet gets out of NCsoft rapidly and either goes on independently or finds another publisher . Else we might never even get to see guild wars 2 .

Livvy, I have to agree with you on that. I've always liked NCsoft's games, but the company seems to be run by the financial department. The people that are behind the games, the devs, are cool. Ayase and Atreid and Amboss & co. are cool, Rockjaw & co. were cool too, heck even the people I never knew before but met at GC08 were cool like Moxie (Jen) and community guys from other games. But that's not good enough for NCsoft Korea, which probably has the final say over NCsoft West's actions. They put a lot of money into TR and didn't see a return fast enough, so I'm guessing they're butthurt in Korea and want to make an example of something. Not nice, not fair. But that's NCsoft: good games, good people, but run by other people who aren't in contact with the fans (or don't listen to the people who are, like community guys) and couldn't care less even if they were. I don't think NCsoft West is a sign that this is going to change. I think NCsoft West is a puppet of NCsoft Korea. That's all. Especially since the CEO is now an import from Korea anyhow.

Not to be disrespectful or anything, but this is how an intelligent, analytical fan will probably see the company. I don't have a personal vendetta against NCsoft at all. I'm just stating the obvious. I wish NCsoft's high management would prove me wrong, but they haven't yet. Those interviews with the new CEO/whatever of NCsoft West right after the company was founded? Rendered false by TR being shut down. I don't believe what he'll say anymore. NCsoft's people on the ground, like Ayase & co., are doing their job the best they can. Even their immediate managers seem to know what's best for the fans. I applaud them for doing the best they can.

Oh well, Aion should be safe since NCsoft Studio 5 in Korea made it. :l
