More about Staffs?

Hey there fellow Handicrafters.

Since some of you have the honor of playing on the chinese/korean client. Iam just wondering about staffs.

1. Is there any point choosing Handicrafting for staffs at all?(As seeing myself rolling a Chanter)
2. Tell me a little more in-depth about Crafting Crits.

Thank you.

To my knowledge this is the best staff in game:

Shining Wise Dragon King's Staff - Items - Aion

It is from Handicrafting.

Now there are stave's that are from Abyss Points which are close to that but that is better than the all the Abyss stave's...for PvE. Looking through the crafted stave's there are creatable stave's assuming you have the recipes that are comparable or better than any of the stave's that drop at each main leveling upgrade stages...like 14/15, 17/19, 22/24, etc...

I haven't looked much for bow's and I should since I think I will be playing a ranger now...was playing a chanter...still uncertain.

Did you check the armory?
Every* crafting pattern has an Elyos version and an Asmodian version

* may not be "every" pattern

The Asmodian version is called Shining Dark Dragon King's Staff I think.

you can make your first basic staff at arround 30 hadncrafting skill.
Most of the mats are easyenough to get with the exception of the grinding stones, which are world drops.
Expect there will be a good market for selling thouse from the many that do not craft.

I crafted a few staves early on, and they were much better than what I could buy/loot for my level. It seems like every crafting profession makes better gear than the comparable drops.

It must be insane to get all you need to craft a gold weapon. Starting on having blue weapons to crit on, or at least that's how it worked with jewels. Guess I shouldnt make assumptions, but be sure it'll be easier to drop weapons then craft them.

What annoyed me most was that every decent craft needed a not so decent craft first, shinings included.
As far as jewels go I got 1/3 of shinings every try so I'd say its worth a try. Normal ones sold pretty well but thats not a fact in NA

To be able to have the skills needed to craft a weapon for your level 30, I do believe you need around 220-240 ranks in handcrafting. I know that there were some lvl 26 or 28 (I don't remember which) items that required 199+ skill rank.

Getting up through the first 150 ranks or so isn't terribly difficult. Things really seem to start slowing down in how often you gain ranks once you start to get closer to 200. If I had to guess at a figure of how much coin I spent getting to rank 205 or so, I'd say I spent around 350K+ easy. Paying the NPC to get to level from 2 (max rank of 199) to work on level 3 ranks (200-299) cost about 125k.

In beta the costs for getting some of the mats needed to try and craft the level 26-28 staffs and bows was costly if you couldn't gather them on your own. A larger selling community when the game goes live should bring down prices dramatically - at least I'm hoping so - from the Broker and private shops.

Both "staffs" and "staves" are (according to most dictionaries) acceptable plurals of "staff," though most spell checkers will tell you "staves" is incorrect. "Stave," however, is a different word with a different meaning that also has as its plural "staves." "Stave" is a 13th century synonym for "staff" that is still in common use, too. In short, both "staff" and "stave" are acceptable words to describe what is commonly known as a staff, and "staffs" and "staves" is each respective word's popularly accepted plural.

You'd be absolutely correct if it were still 1264 (because back then the plural of "staff" was "staves,") but at present, you're wrong. Go away.

Craft white staff, crit it to green
Use green staff in another recipe thats usually a drop. craft and crit it to blue.
Use blue staff in a final recipe that is also a drop, probably rare and requires raegents off of raid mobs... crit to gold.

It is NOT easy to get a gold weapon from crafting. If you do, congratulations on your millions and millions of kinah =). Or shiny new beat stick.
