400 handi quest details?

I'm 99% sure that the quest doesn't care where you get the item from, the quest code is just written to check for it's existence in your inventory.

At a 20% proc rate, here's the average gatherables needed for the blue bow for this quest:

-- 6850 egrasi logs
-- 150 premium weapon fluxes
-- 1950 aether
-- 30 worthy premium weapon fluxes
-- 85 high-grade aether
-- 125 high-grade mithril

Currently, egrasi logs sell for about 25k for a stack of 15 -- so looking at over 11 million for those. Of course there is currently not anywhere near that amount for purchase, so gathering it will be. Even at an extraordinary gathering rate of 2 logs per minute you are looking at 57 hours spent doing nothing but gathering these logs. How many levels of grinding mobs would you get in the same amount of time?

The fluxes are a whole different story, especially considering that we get to compete with weapon crafters for the precious few of those around.

1) Join an organized legion with designated crafters who are sent materials by all members.
2) Watch your mailbox fill up with mats
3) Make items for your members in exchange for all their hard work gathering
3a) Make best friends with the Chanters and Rangers in your legion, having them send you all of their weapon flux drops in exhange for great bows/staffs.
4) Sell crafted items on AH for lots of money to purchase mats in shortage

Nobody else uses Egrasi Logs but us, to my knowledge. So if you have 10 people a day sending you a 20 stack, in addition to your personal farming it takes quite a bit of the load off you. And anyone in your legion asking you "hey man can you make me a physical crit necklace?" you say sure bud, start farming me egrasi logs and i'll hook you up with something leet. Then they do and both sides win.

Heh yeah, the legion does help a lot. But only a couple of them so far have the skill to gather egrasi logs (I'm the highest level gatherer at 382 skill). I get a very large chunk of the accessory fluxes, but all the weapon fluxes are going to our weaponsmith who also happens to be working on his epic right now. Money is not really the issue, it's the lack of egrasi logs... and the reason they are selling in stacks of 15 is there is a gather quest for them and right now the vast majority of players don't have gather skill up... so all the logs are getting purchased right away.

Actually, it's because of this quest that I'm currently selling all my logs. By the time the fluxes are more readily available for purchase I figure a lot more people will have gather up and will be putting up logs for sale (thus reducing the cost so I can buy back for a lot less than I sold for).

Yea I have over 5 mil kinah from soloing elites. Why?

It took me about 5 to 6 hours to get 1300 Salix logs. I can't imagine the kind of grind that is ahead for the Asvata logs....

I'm still trying to make the Noble Durable Ulmus Staff that this nyerkwad wants. I'm 0 for 16 and I've tried at full craft tables, empty craft tables, with 2k dp, with 4k dp and have so far not been able to craft a single one. Gathering 170 ulmus and 55 gems for each try nets me a good profit for the failures, even when I buy the fluxes. But it's a little ridiculous. I'm just going to spend all week gathering logs and gems, then try to make like 15 at once with the craft all button. If none crit, i'll just give up.

I typically like to have enough materials for about 5-6 combines. You have to be able to play the law of averages with these proc percentages. I don't just do craft all but I will craft them typically in one sitting as I believe you nyerk your proc chances if you do not. -nyerk me- I hear someone killing me in the Abyss....that's what I get for alt-tabbing while Aether gathering...

You're competing with alchemists too. Alchemist + Handcraft + Weapon uses weapon fluxes. Armorsmith + Tailor uses armor fluxes.

To the guy that said he couldn't get the quest.. I'm having this issue too. It's possible that it's because I still have the expert armorsmith quest open (on the last stage) so it won't let me take the alchemy expert quest. That's all I can think of. I'll worry about it if it still won't let me do it after I finish the armor quest (if I ever do, hah). Already failed twice on that to the tune of about 5M each try.

I think one of the main issues right now w/ the premium fluxes is that probably a large portion of guilds are feeding one of their own crafters and most of the rangrang bot crews aren't high enough level yet to be hitting these. The few free ones that do get placed on the broker likely have price jacked up by a few ppl that have purchased kinah and don't worry too much about pricing. I've managed to obtain a few @ 600k which I found fairly reasonable, but lately they've been even harder to obtain. The 600K ones I found about 2 weeks ago, instead of becoming easier to get they have become harder at least as I see it - I've seen some priced at 1M that are too much for me but get bought up by someone else within hours.
