Please don't be offended by my comment but I have to say this:

I have read the lore for both sides, and I dont see how elyos are cowards. Did you seriously agree with the actions of the asmodians? If so, would you also agree on having war in RL when you actually could have peace? I mean I totally understand that this is a game and that there's people who prefer to play the "evil" race. I know asmodian nor elyos are entitled to be "evil" or "good" but when you read the lore for both the races, it's clear that asmodians are the more barbaric race and more into bloodlust. But be honest, if this was RL, wouldn't you have chosen peace just like the "coward" elyos?"

Elyos wanted nothing more, nothing less than peace. And it all went according to our plan, the balaur were invited to the tower, they DID NOT do anything offensive. THEN it was one of the shedim lords that just killed one of the balaur leaders. It is more than obvious that the balaur wouldn't just sit around and cry and not do anything. So they destroyed the tower, yup. So who made the balaur do it? Not the elyos. We never actually know what would've happened if you all would've just given it a chance. We don't know if the balaur would've attacked us during that peace conference. But it might've worked. But you guys screwed it up, so you provoked the balaur to destroy the tower....so yeah, the planet split into 2 parts and we got arrogant, because our half is thoroughly beautiful.



Anyway...apart from the lore...I don't see how asmodians or elyos look better or worse. I have tried both, and they BOTH can be equally beautiful. I never found myself thinking that one race looked better than the other. But to me, it seems most of the asmodian players dont even want to look really beautiful...it might just be a difference in taste, but most of the asmodian females especially (in this thread), looked ugly to me. but thats just my opinion, so no offense please.

Also, I know that both parts of the world have beautiful spots, in fact when I saw the videos from the zone tours of asmodae, I really loved those maps where it was night, and you see those glowing purplish trees and those kind of glowing lilypads in the water, as it was shown in some of the scenery screenshots here. But overall, elyos has MORE of those beautiful spots than Asmodae, IMO. Then again, have you guys ever checked out the highlvl maps of elysea? Heiron etc. Those maps could easily be mistaken for an asmodian environment.

I used the last beta weekend to teleport through all the elysean maps and then use the flight transporter to check it out.

I wrote someting very similar to the following in the Elyos more beautiful than Asmo thread.

A character is only as beautiful as the person controlling the slider makes him or her.

The prefabricated faces for both sides are the same. I'll be going into character creation during the next beta and taking some screen shots.

If the pre-fab faces are the same, aren't both races equally beautiful? Yes, Asmodians have claws and manes, but if we're talking just beauty, most people look at the faces and not the hands, feet and back.

Yes, I'm Asmodian, and yes I happen to think my characters are pretty, but I also happen to prefer Elyos. My guild voted on which side, and Elyos lost. Therefore, I'm playing with my peeps and who cares if I have claws and a mane.

You guys and gals really should admit that BOTH sides are pretty damn beautiful. Oh, and to the poster above who put a wall of text about lore....this is about what's on the outside silly, not what's on the inside. Yeah, I know, beauty is only skin deep and whatnot, but this seems to be a beauty contest instead of an "ethics war" or whatever

Yea uhm i have to agree. Elyos wanted a diplomatic solution, and asmos went and killed the baluar leader before the sit down. So basically, Asmos were hasty and THATS why the tower fell. cowards my ASSmodian.

i didnt go looking for your post, i stumbled upon it. and see what i mean? you just gave Leon the wrong idea. now hes following false lore granted to him/her by none other than you. he now thinks its all the asmos fault that the tower fell when indeed it is not. all you're doing is brainwashing people with your lack of facts.

And a quick lore insertion to follow the thread's recent tangent. -- If you read the "Books" of each respective side's lore on the official Aion site (or the Wiki here), it seems that the NC story-writers were deliberately vague with what happened in that instant that started the cataclysm.

From the Elyos recount:

Then, in a moment's breath, it happened.

We still speak of the events that followed that day, of the sudden shouts of panic, of the sickening certainty that gripped us all: the warmongers would have their way, even if they had to sacrifice all of Atreia to achieve it. We saw Asphel move swiftly and suddenly, and the Dragon Lord Vitra collapse. The Balaur did not waste time with words. In an instant, there was carnage and chaos.

From the Asmodian recount:

I turned to my most trusted centurion, and went to speak with him, when, as quick as a click of a finger, everything changed. There was shouting, confusion, a rout. One of the Balaur had fallen, and Lord Asphel was standing ready to fight, his eyes blazing.

Note that in neither case does it *specifically* state that Asphel struck the Balaur lord. Each is appropriately leading in their own point of view. When I read the Elyos book first, I came to the same immediate conclusion that Asphel instigated the conflict, but upon reading the Asmodian book I started to wonder. From the Elyos point of view though, Faliandra has the story correct (according to these Lore bits).

On the "hmmmm" side of things: The conspiracy theorist in my head is nudging me to wonder whether one of the other Balaur lords, or some other "4th party", dealt the blow to Vitra in order to start the events leading up to the destruction of the tower (now that the Balaur had been allowed inside the shield). Probably crazy/nothing, but it'd make for an interesting twist.

I maintain two Asmodian characters (A female sorceror and a male ranger) as well as an Elyos chanter. Though if I'm honest, artistically the Asmodians are SLIGHTLY less cliched than the Elyos.
