If you read and understood the lore, then you would understand this. The Elyos were thrust into a beautiful world, full of sunlight and warm. Sunlight helps the plants grow, your streams sparkle and everything to be gleaming. We Asmos were thrown into a world of darkness. That means : no bright and colorful plants, no sparkling streams, no gleaming. On the other hand, we do get a lot of glowing structures, plants, and animals. If you don't like Asmodae, you're more then welcome to stay out.

Really, it's each to their own.

I didn't find Asmodae to be that dark or depressing at all, it had many places full of light and colour, perhaps a bit too much for a world dressed in dark? I particularly liked the snowy areas, but then I have always been partial to snow.

But the Asmodian's have their own beauty. It's a different kind of beauty to the Elyos, more subtle in a way, but its there.

Personally I think the Asmodian world is more vibrantly colored than the Elyos areas. The colors are richer and deeper, whereas the Elyos areas seem to be more "normal" I guess. More toned-down. I guess it doesn't help that I'm not a fan of beaches & deserts either though. And yeah I've seen the non-sandy places in zone tour...still seem kinda dull to me.

I've been watching the Zone Tour vids and stuff since I missed out on the last beta (Ordered CE on the 3rd, never got a beta key), and from what they've shown, I definitely find the Asmodian areas to be more colorful. While yes darker, I prefer darker and snowy areas anyway! And the areas that aren't snowy or volcanic look really pretty too. :3 The Ishalgen Zone Tour is a good example of what I mean.

Note that in neither case does it *specifically* state that Asphel struck the Balaur lord. Each is appropriately leading in their own point of view. When I read the Elyos book first, I came to the same immediate conclusion that Asphel instigated the conflict, but upon reading the Asmodian book I started to wonder. From the Elyos point of view though, Faliandra has the story correct (according to these Lore bits).

On the "hmmmm" side of things: The conspiracy theorist in my head is nudging me to wonder whether one of the other Balaur lords, or some other "4th party", dealt the blow to Vitra in order to start the events leading up to the destruction of the tower (now that the Balaur had been allowed inside the shield). Probably crazy/nothing, but it'd make for an interesting twist.

It is just as likely that the Balaur sacrificed one of their own to prevent peace as it is that Asphel instigated the conflict - The Elyos account stops short of blaming him, just saying he was ready, and the Asmodian account definitely implies he was ready for battle but had not struck yet... Also, it was not just the Elyos seeking peace, but BOTH Elyos and Asmodian. The Balaur were cunning and ruthless and knew the best point to strike would be when they were invited to close to the heart of the Tower of Eternity. It would not take much to shatter the resistance to them when give such unparalleled access...

The point where Elyos start to look very ugly in the lore is when they meet up with the Asmodians and reportedly rape and pillage. Not so good there.

I really like the fem Asmodian cloth-armor look with the pulled aside hair (like Akirina and Gear's). It just looks so classy, yet deadly. ;D
