The difference are best noticed at the login screen. Keep the settings window open and just apply with each one. I think 3 looks the best. Off is sort of boring. 1 just looks like contrast bump. 2 is just too strong. 3 seems less powerful than 1 so it's a nice balance imho.

type 1 is so bright it hurts my eyes in a long run
type 2 is far too blurry, i feel like i'm playing without glasses on
type 3 is purrfection!

I just set type 3 based on flicking through them briefly in the starter area, and finding that type 3 was the only one that looked pretty without giving me a headache.

Yeah, a most scientific method of choice, I know.
