I've seen a player killing what looks like Air Elementals, so I'm not sure.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they put in some kind of elemental mobs, but they would probably be different than the summons. Another thing for the wait-and-see list

+ the article at off. eu site says "they are found mostly in strong windy areas" for wind spirits and "they are often found in heated or volcanic areas" for fire elementals, so i think theyre mobs too, not just summons.

Amagawd what!? Thank you for posting that. They got that idea off of FFXI. Everytime I see a new element cloned from FFXI or L2 I get more giddy

And about the elements being mobs or summons, I strongly believe it's both. Like WoW, you fought the same mobs warlocks can summon. And FFXI, the elementals you fought could be summoned.
