New crafting video

Someone called sunshineaion posted this video up on youtube yesterday;

Its a crafting vid which shows the success/fail part of crafting.

I have already put a translation request in for the text that is appearing on the bottom.

Crafting sound kinda interesting finally (better than EQ2 / Vanguard / Lineage2 one), just have to wait the game now

Yeah I kinda figured that is what the lines were about. The thing that concerns me, I am not sure how many people here have played L2 but in L2 you have these things called Soul Shots, basically the double the damage of your weapon.

If you have to craft them like this it is going to be a real pain in the ***

The Aion craft system seems very similar to the craft system in EQ2 for any people who have played EQ2.

I guess you are talking about the revised crafting system cause the original one was a nightmare ...

nice video, thanks!

seems fairly straighforward in its implementation... i wonder if the crafting system employs the "you fail at upgrading X item, with Y upgrade, and both pieces are desctroyed" concept... certainly adds more risk to the process, but should yield greater reward...

oh, and i love the NPC sound byte at the end... lol...

LOL the original made me want to take my eyes out with a spoon, but now it's much better, this vid also reminded me of the newer EQII crafting and LotrO to a degree. Nice stuff ^_^

Yeah I was talking about the revised one. The original EQ2 crafting was ... umm how to put it, like taking a hammer and pounding a nail into your skull.

I hated it so much.

I do like the emote when he fails all the emotes in Aion seem quite good.

I really hope it doesn't incorporate a "both items are destroyed" system... I mean, if you do all the work to go out and gather the mats (say some are boss drops that take multiple people to get just one of) you shouldn't have the chance of losing everything. Honestly, the "more risk for greater rewards" I think is a flawed system from the start in that the quality of rewards should be based on other methods of gaining items (PvE raids, abyss), and then their difficulty adjusted accordingly, not vice versa. It wouldn't be a game breaker I guess, but I would think you'd see a smaller market for crafted goods if there was a chance on breaking, 'cause I just don't see them being "better" than other items with or without the chance to break.

But if theres no loss then whats the point of a fail in the first place? You'll just try again until you succeed. I hate it when it happens to me, too, but its necessary.

Well depends. In L2 you could work for months and months for a craft, and fail, and have to start over from the beginning. And if you were really unlucky you could fail several times. Which could easily bankrupt you, or demoralize you.

I don't mind failing bits and pieces, but I'm with march, in that if I put in a boat load of effort, I want the effort to be rewarded. I don't want months of work to disappear in a second, and have no guarantee it won't happen again, and again.

From the video:

I wonder if there is anything you do to influence the blue and yellow bars. Or if it is just a visual device for a random chance system.
