Seems you missed my question:

In the very first trailer I saw climbing is that still ingame? And is that wing flash light thing the lvl up animation (Don't mean that thing which you see when you activate your wings). Could you tell us a bit more about the foliage how it looks feels and stuf like rippeling the water with your wings. That would be awsome thanks in advance you guys are the lifesource we feed on right now xD.

So I put it on again srry if I'm wrong thanks for info in advance

Sorry, I have no idea about the climbing thing, never watched the very first trailer. but then again, since you can just fly up if it's not a flight restricted zone so I don't see the point of climbing, at least I haven't seen anybody climb anything so far.

About the wings flash light thing, yes it's the animation for the level up.

and.. I haven't tried flying low over water yet since the only lake that I could actually go right now (flight restriction + my char's level isn't high enough for other lake zones) got invisible wall.

I believe he means climbing like in this E3 2006 Trailer.

Also notice the word "dodge", I bet they already have it fully translated and everyone's happily playing internally, with swimming and no flight timer!

Oh.. that kind of climbing.. well I haven't seen it YET. That might be a higher level zone

Btw, I am pretty sure that this is not Korean Aion server trailer. cuz currently if a char dodge an attack, instead of showing the text such as "DODGE!" it just shows "REPLACE ME" lol, even for critical attacks or miss and resisted, it's all "REPLACE ME" for now.

hey, got another question that I'm suprised hasn't been asked yet. Drive by buffing. An example of this is in the game World of Warcraft, say you run past a priest and that priest buffs you with Power word: Fortitude as you run by, and then you run past a druid who randomly casts Mark of The Wild as well as Thorns. I think this is a realy good system and it works great, just a random act of kindness I suppose. Does Aion have a buff system similar to this? (assuming chanters arn't the only one who can buff others)

Not sure if other classes got buffs too, at least sorc doesn't, or maybe it's because my level is too low. Anyways, yeah it is possible for chanters to buff random people while running.

my fault for posting about chanters, i shoulda read the entire thread first hehe.

but there is one other thing that concerns me. from all the vids i've watched of flying pvp...it seems to be hectic. how smooth is flying? i mean it seems awesome with the free range of movement but i'm afraid that melee classes (esp assassins) may get screwed over by this especially since it seems some skills are positional. How position sensitive are skills? If an assassin is fighting a class 1v1 and it takes off in flight, is the assassin SOL? because it seems with the flying element, it'll be a lot harder to find the "back" of a person in pvp.

Ok, so Ive read the thread as thoroughly as I can muster and I have yet to see these answered. If these are repeat questions, I sincerely apologize. (also, after playing both WoW and FFXI, I loathe FFXI, and love WoW, so in effect, I wouldn't mind one bit if this was a "near wow clone" in mechanics anyway...) =P

1. Crafting system: is this similar to the nice simple wow crafting in that once you have the mats, you're guaranteed to make the item, but an increase in skill level is "optional"? or is it more overly complex and convoluted like FFXI?

2. Can you make macros a'la Wow?

3. How similar is the combat system to wow? Is a significant amount of the dmg you deal (as melee) from auto-attacks? or is it almost all special moves? and, as a caster: is there any version of auto attack, or is it pure spells like wow?

4. Partying/Soloing/Leveling: Is the Exp gain system similar to FFXI in that if you dont have a party, you are seriously screwed on xp? or is it more like wow where you can easily solo level if you feel so inclined? (I understand that you may prefer to party for certain benefits, but in FFXI you were pretty much forced to party or you would never get anything done - bleh).

5. Also, roughly how long does it take to gain a level in game time wise? What sort of time difference would you see if you were to gain a level solo versus partying to do it?

hmmm... flying is pretty smooth I'd say, but about your other question as in if melee could fight ranged such as sorc or ranger on the air... well we haven't tested abyss yet and people tend to duel on ground atm because of 1 min duration of flight timer. But.. well from what I've seen on some video before, gladiators or assassins didn't really have trouble beating sorc in aerial combat duel. Sure sorc can attack from few yards away but they have casting time and while they are casting it's not hard for melee classes to approach them and attack, unless you got snared or slowed by frost attack before hand.

Yes they can. Some asmodian assassin sneaked into Elyos' fortress and tried to gank a sorc then got killed last night. He later posted on forums about how he got in with out being caught, he flew over the wall while in stealth.

cool! It seems every answer brings up another question. Apart from the stigma system is there any other way to make a class unique? I mean for example say if you're a sorc and you're fighting another sorc, if you where to win why? would you be spamming the same skills? Would win win entiarly due to luck or is there another factor that infuences a fight of two of the same classes?

I have to say it's somewhat similar to WoW. Your playstyle, how you chose your talents (in this case Stigma system), somewhat luck yes, and how you use your skills obviously. Unless the 2 sorcs fighting think exactly the same and both chose the same stigmas and use skills in the exact same way, in which case luck would be the main factor, it's usually just a combination of playstyle and luck :P.

DP skills would be a determining factor yes, since for every class, the two races have different DP skills. And it would also depend on what they're fighting.

Remember when 2 priests use to fight each other in WoW, say one's a dwarf (with fear ward) and the other's a blood elf or something? Well the dwarf has the upper hand cause he can just fearward himself out of an extra fear. Same thing =p.

1. I've never tried FF11 so I have no idea how it is in there but I can say that Aion's profession system is pretty similar to WoW. You have to have certain skill level to learn and craft items.

2. Yes, there is a macro menu.

3. Again, auto attack is pretty similar to WoW as well. But uh, in assassin's case, have to plan out your skill sequence well to kill the target fast. Their auto attack's kinda.. meh? with daggers that is. Casters do have auto attack. Sorc's auto attack is.. rip off the page out of the book and throw it to the target.

4. Never tried FF11 so I don't know how bad it is in that game but atm in beta at least... people have been complaining about how hard it is to solo as their level is getting higher and forced to form a group to finish quests. Well, this is not surprising since these quests are like elite quests from WoW. You can still solo and kill mobs on your own and grind to level up with out doing elite quests but.. that might be slower than partying with others for the hard quests.

5. This question is... something that I don't think I can answer during the beta test, I mean with limited mobs due to slow respawn rate and tons of players.. it's kinda hard to level either way, whether you solo or group.
