Race: Elyos

Need help from a Japanese speaker (reader)...

so, I keep getting two errors during my ncsoft account registration: "苗字(フリガナ)を確認して下さい。" and
"名前(フリガナ)を確認して下さい。".

I can only google translate them to what I assume is the hiragana first and last names. Problem is that I just can't figure out what the hell they want (I've entered them every way I can think of).

Any help would be great. Thanks...

what I did was enter my first and last name in katakana, copy and pasted the symbols off a website and it ended up working.

Holy crap, thanks. So it was katakana... kept translating it to "furigana". Oh well, glad that's over.

Japanese names are usually written in kanji. Because there are many possible readings for kanji names, including special name-only readings called nanori, furigana are often used to give the readings of names. On Japanese official forms, where the name is to be written, there is always an adjacent column for the name to be written in furigana. Usually katakana is preferred.
