Yeah I agree the voiceovers suck it kind sounds like they got the wanna be American anime voices and dubbed it...FAIL
I speak Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English but I prefer speaking English. I live in Yokohama and English is my first language, but I'm still playing in the NA release because I get enough Japanese nonsense in my daily life, I don't want to come home to it as well when I'm trying to escape reality... __________________ ![]() |

Lived in Japan for 2 years and work as a translator of the language, but I will still play in English...
Back on topic though, if you can't speak Japanese, get to the English servers - its just not an MMO if you can't communicate with the populous. ^^ |

Ok, so new question. I am in the same boat: I am a native English speaker with limited Japanese living in Japan. I can speak it fairly well, but I can't read nearly well enough to enjoy the game's quests and understand the menus. I recently downloaded the US/EU Open Beta and installed it and am just waiting until Sept. 1st to receive my beta key. If I had someone back in the states purchase a copy for me and send me the CD key, would I be able to register/play with the Aion client I currently have installed now and use that CD key once the game is officially released?

Purchase the game digitally through Steam. You'll get the Key almost immediately (at least I did). Hope this helps! __________________

Steam... >.<
but I REALLY hate steam... Mostly because I hate 3rd party DRMs. If I buy a game digitally, I want to be able to play with or without an internet connection (obviously this requires internet connection, but I still need to connect through Steam). Not to mention that if Steam were to ever die for some reason, I'd be completely screwed over since you have to play the game through their online software.
So that being said, do you think I can just use the full version I downloaded for OBT with a key that comes from the game purchased in the US? I'm thinking it will work... |

the answer is yes.
but you are wrong, steam version doesnt connect through steam steam just provides the installer to you. and the cd key. the cd key you registered with NC soft, and linked it to an account. that account can even be used on your friends installation of aion, or a internet cafe, or anything like that. the account is not tied to the software, nor is steam aion tied to steam. |

really?
oh, really? That's very nice and would solve my problem right there. The other games I have bought through Steam all require me to run them through the steam software. You just made my night, thank you! ^^

In addition because this is NCwest they won't "Risk" it so they'll ban you probably and state Zero tolerance policy. So if you ask for a appeal they'll probably deny you and say we're doing this for the good of the community but in actuality they cannot confirm or deny whether the account is sold. Sorry this is a late response. Hope it helps! To clarify: To the best of my knowledge, there is NOTHING to block you from playing NA Aion in Japan once you have a NA copy of the game, BUT you will need help to acquire the serial number. Last edited by transrelativity; 09-03-2009 at 08:24 PM.. |

Hey TR, since you have experience with the same problems I'm having...
I had my Bro over in the states purchase the game for me through Steam, but I can't install it through Steam over here. That isn't a big deal at all since I have the full version downloaded from NCsoft, but how will I gain access to my CD key without having the game installed through Steam? There is an option under game Properties that says "You need an active NCsoft account for this game" and a link to the website. Obviously, the website is down atm due to maintenance, but will I be able to register my game that way from Japan or will I have to have my Bro install it in the US and register before I can log in? If you don't know, that's cool, but thought I'd ask since you did the same thing I did. Oh, and Spirit, sorry for posting more questions about this, but it's not working out as simply as it is supposed to I guess. Maybe different ISPs in Japan communicate with Steam differently? Who knows... ------------------------- ok, disregard my previous post here. I got my Aion account activated and everything's fine. After my Bro purchased it from Steam using a US computer, I was able to register and everything fine. Thanks for all the help though everyone. Kaedan Last edited by Kaedan94; 09-04-2009 at 11:32 PM..
