Advice for non-Japanese speakers in Japan
Is there any way that non-Japanese speaker that lives in Japan can play Aion in English?
I don't care if 99% of the players are talking in another language, but I can't deal with a GUI or ingame NPC text in Kanji.... |

I salute to your perseverance for this game. Is it enjoyable to play a MMO with ppl whom you can't understand their language?

1% of 7000 accounts per server is 70. Way more than needed to enjoy group PvE and PvP content. If you enjoy mostly solo content or crafting then nobody speaking your native tongue is needed.

That said. It's possible that, in the release version of the US Aion, you'll be able to connect to US servers even from Japan. |

I asked Ayase a similar question not long ago since I will be moving to Japan for my job, but will want to play with my friends on the NA servers. His answer was that as long as you register the game from an NA or EU IP address you should be able to access the servers perfectly fine from Japan.
Long story short: If you're living in Japan and want to play on the NA/EU servers, get a friend in NA/EU to register the game for you and play as normal. The post in question. Last edited by Tadrith; 08-11-2009 at 12:50 PM.. |

nah, that was when the IP block was still active. now theres no IP block at all, all you need is the NA version of the game to register for the NA servers or EU version for the EU servers. you dont need to set up your account in the states/canada or europe anymore. |

I have a question for Transrelativity, I'm in the same situation as you (living in Japan) and I'm curious about purchasing an English NA version of the game digitally. I've never bought anything from Steam before. It seems like purchasing Aion from Steam using a Japanese IP address won't work correct? If I have a friend in Canada make the purchase from Steam, is it then possible for me to download the game off that site using the same account, even though I'm still on a Japanese IP? I'm just trying to figure out how I actually get the game onto my pc, without having to ship a copy here lol
Cheers. |

Just out of curiosity, is the serial number/cd key sent through email or is it shown on the Steam account? I might try and pull in a late birthday present from my Dad (6 months late hah!) and I'm not sure if he'd know what to look for if I didn't explain it first lol ![]() |

You don't need a friend to buy it for you if you use paypal
you can't use a US paypal account tho. You must make a new paypal account set up for japan/international customers. It's really easy then you send money from US paypal account to this new paypal account and purchase through steam, and it passes all IP checks. I do this for everything I buy online in japan |

Japanese version is so much more expensive than the NA version. Secondly, I'd rather play games in my mother tongue thankyouverymuch. I have plenty of friends who are bilingual and each-and-every-one of them has their own preference for which language they play games in. I prefer English. Although, I'm putting the voices in Japanese come release. Majority of the English voiceovers BLOW |
