Just out of interest, what is your aim with questioning our policies? Would you like us to say something like this 18+ policy is pointless, or won't work, and that you were right all along? Or that our presence as a guild is not needed because noone's interested? Either way you're wrong.

You'll recognise in a few years that there is a point to the policy, and it is effective. And you never know, you might even be looking for a guild like ours when you qualify for it.

(and don't say that you're something like 18+ years of age, because if that was the case, this wouldn't bother you in the slightest).

As for the comment about "Family Guilds", we're not a family and never have we stated such (so i'm not sure where you got that impression). We're friends, who like to chat, have a beer/glass of wine. Talk about whatever's on our minds, and have a proper laugh. Sometimes this is based around adult themes, sometimes it isn't. The point is that we know we can do it and feel comfortable in knowing that we won't have a whining child or an enraged parent to deal with.

In all seriousness, I barely care, I was just curious. This guild perks my interests a slight bit more than every other guild ( yes, the wording is correct there, every ), but that level of interest is still abysmally low.

So you're just going to wait it out. I guess that's the only real option you have and that's fine.

But don't quite start acting like I need to be good enough for your guild yet. Your guild, like every other guild so far, has accomplished just about squat, and until you have, well, beggars can't be choosers. There's no double standard here; just the way I see things.

And in what way do you mean perks your interest? because from what i can decipher from that statement, You're interested in joining but you don't qualify for the age restrictions?

IF that's the case then your going about it the complete wrong way, lol. If not then i have no idea what that statement means.

I think you and i are on a different planet. We are far from elitist, and where in "Friendship" and "Socialising" did you read "Uber people only" and "No Nubs". By arguing the way you are, you are becoming more of an epitome of why our policy even exists. Somehow our age requirement obviously offends you in some way.

If that's the case, don't whine, be mature and ignore it.

Maybe English doesn't work the same way over in the UK as it does stateside, but here, you are implying that I'm not 18. Therefore implying that I am not qualified. Which is synonymous with, "I'm not good enough for you." Yet you have no way to prove either way I'm not 18. Sure I could tell you I have one class to go before I graduate from university, but I wouldn't expect you to take my word on it neither. Not that I would want to be bothered to prove it anyway. It's a wonderful equilibrium.

Anyway, that's getting away from the point at hand. Since it seems a bit of perusal could go a long way in this thread, I was just curious about how you'd figure out if I was 18 or older. Only curious. Yet you were so anxious to defend your guild or make some kind of statement about your guild, you leaped onto the offense. In the end, you said you'd wait it out to figure out age, which is what I essentially said, "okay" to.

Chill out dude. I say the same thing to every guild. Don't take on any airs until you've earned them. There was a very thinly veiled compliment in that post too ( "This guild perks my interest more than any other guild" ), but again, reading comprehension has been thrown out the window.

On the point of 18+ I think there's a few things that people don't take into account in a clan / guild which is age restricted:

Firstly however, under 18s DO tend to be the irritators in online games of all forms. Thiis has totally been proved, and while I am not saying that this is every under-18, it is, relatively, a much higher proportion of this age-group.

Secondly, in contrast, the reason a lot of groups are 18+ is because older people have less time constraints: if you're over 18 and play these games, you are more likely to set aside time for it on a regular basis. Those people who are at school or University tend to have less of their own time.

Lastly, groups that are over 18 are a lot more liberal with language, actions etc. A lot of younger people are intimidted by swearing, general abuse etc. Therefore these groups are effectively making sure the members have automatically passed through some kind of vetting, and that not too many people will be offended.

So, far from being a 'you are a pain in the arse young newb', these gamers want an edge of seriousness (with time being spent) while being able to be pretty liberal with actions and language on forums and in-game... so some of it is FOR the under-18s safety.

This is an offensive statement towards our entire guild, hence why you received a defensive reply.

We don’t check ID’s at the door. We don’t ask our members for proof. We simply ask if they are over the age of 18 or not. If they say yes. Happy Day. If they are not 18 and manage to sneak in the back door and noone ever notices, even better. Yes I mean Good. That’s one more under 18 that we’d happily deal with. If they do get noticed, it’s probably because they were being immature, and people get annoyed with them. In which case we boot them. Hope that clears it all up.

Besides, you can’t say that we “perked your interest”, claim it was a compliment, and then couple it up with “but my interest is abysmally low” in the same sentence. I don’t know how it works Stateside, but here that’s like slapping someone in the face and expecting them to say thanks.

Beggars can't be choosers. It's the truth. Right now, you're just searching for any old member. There's no reason why a "superior" member would come to you seeing that AION has not even come out yet, leaving you with zero notable accomplishments. You want to be kings? Earn it. You have a problem with any of what I just said?

Stop being hyper defensive. I just have no interest in guilds atm.
