The first and foremost is our focus on adult gamers. By adult I essentially mean gamers that understand common-sense etiquette, are not offended by general adult conversation, and are willing to contribute to a community. Our legion type is "casually hardcore" because casual guilds in today's games sit around not doing anything together. We are flexible, but organized as well. Think of it like a family vacation. A lot of careful planning goes into ensuring an enjoyable time. For more information please see the vision.

Rules are as follows

We do enforce a loose age requirement, generally 18 and over, but we're willing to make exceptions on a per player basis. Our environment is a laid back one, think "Irish pub," but don't be too rowdy or you may find yourself bounced.

Please apply here if interested. We are taking applications, but early application does not guarantee membership in the first phase. We ask that if you are not invited that you remain patient as we gather resources to grow. We appreciate variety. The greater we are in number, the greater variety there will be. Seeing as how the game limits the number of members until we are promoted to the next level, the more dedicated players will take precedence in stage one. That way we can quickly build the resources to expand, and then invite others to join.

Questions

Will there be an EU division of Elysium?

Currently there are no plans to initiate an EU division, however, anyone interested in leading such an initiative may contact eidolonnight@aionelysium.com

Are you pvp or pve? Hardcore or casual?

Although these extremes may classify some players, they do not accurately describe most. Most players enjoy varying amounts of both pvp and pve content. Therefore, Elysium will actively engage all content that is offered by Aion: The Tower of Eternity.

The hardcore vs casual debate is even more convoluted. Each player has a different idea of what the meaning of hardcore or casual is. Most commonly hardcore legions/guilds are those that play frequently and achieve high ranks or progression. Casual legions/guilds play to simply enjoy the game and socialize. As with the pvp vs pve classification, many legions/guilds cater to the extremes of this issue. Hardcore guilds tend to treat the game as a business. Casual guilds tend to treat the game like a chat room. Elysium is somewhere in the middle in what I call the "singles night" model. When someone goes to singles night they generally expect three things:

1. Have fun.
2. Meet interesting people.
3. Get things done.

Despite the blatant innuendo, this model ensures that players get the most out of the game.

Why create a countdown widget before we have a release date?

It took two days to code the countdown widget. It's not the simple crappy javascript that most countdown widgets use. Most forums don’t allow javascript and many free hosts don’t allow it either. So we set up an uber little hamster with l337 skillz with a direct link to our server. Every night he updates the image to display the days left until the launch of Aion: The Tower of Eternity.*

* Elysium does not employ slave hamster labor. There is, in fact, a cron job and php script that edits the image each night.

What's up with all this "stuff"?

Imagine complaining that after getting a long massage you got "a little extra." I don't understand why anyone would complain about getting more than they asked for. These features are here for entertainment, and to make Aion life a bit easier. If you don't like one or more of them then simply don't use them. We here at Elysium don't believe in using our supreme mental powers to force people into clicking our links.

Isn't all this stuff happening too soon?

Again, would you complain if you got your paycheck early this week? The truth of the matter is, things such as the countdown timer took 2 days to code and waiting until the last minute would be chaos. Besides, who can say this:

"We do it first. We do it best."

Please note:

• Legion structure will not be formed until more info is acquired.
• Loot distribution will also not be decided on until more info is attained.
  • update: recent info about abyss points suggests that loot distribution may not be an issue, but if necessary a looting method will be devised for pve content.

YuP, great to have you with us, Genjimaru. For now our application section will also act as a loose guild roster. For now, we're actively recruiting on a few forums: Aionsource and mmorpg.com. I'm also doing my best to convince guildmates from other games to make the switch, but it's difficult to do when we don't even have a due date yet.

I suppose this is a round-a-bout way of saying that recruitment is wide open so grab your friends.

Also, the site should be running even faster now that caching and optimization is enabled.

Thanks Kat! Actually, much of Elysium's design is based around being the polar opposite of Noble Phantasm. No point in creating a guild/legion if it's not unique. I saw an unoccupied niche and grabbed it As for help, how about sending over a few bumps from your massive recruitment post? lol GL and let us know if you ever need anything.

I actually like what you've done here a lot. There's been a lot of "clone" guilds, as Celestin has tagged them, I've seen pop up over time. I personally don't believe in creating the same guild twice if it can be helped. I'm really amazed you came up with a fully unique guild with it's own niche. I'm interested to see how you guys do, and I sincerely wish you all the very best luck!
