Mage or Spiritmaster?!?!?!

I have been looking at different videos on the two classes but i dont know which one I want to choose. I dont know the main difference between them (besides spiritmasters can summon) and I havent seen that many vids of mages or spiritmasters in-game. Can some1 help me out here? maybe post links to as many vids of mages or/and spiritmasters in action (PvP and PvE)

I am hoping to decide by release.

Mage - Typical nuking class, they cast spells, probably lots of AoEs and big damage.

Spiritmaster - Has 4 summons (Wind, Water, Fire, Earth) that they use to attack the enemies for them.

That basically sums the classes up to be brief..I voted Spiritmaster

I predict it will be easy for Mages to kill Spiritmasters any day. Yes, Mages are the classic nukers in all elements, spiritmasters summon's will attack, and defend for them. Maybe use some kind of magic, because water spirits are ranged users but they also heal people.

I just predict spiritmasters will be a versitile class, good at many thing, but not as good for 1 thing as the specific class that does the same.

They are great if you want to do things on your own, solo a lot...but imo they wont be as good as other classes for any applications myself or my clan is concerned with, but who knows...we wont know til we get to play open beta...they might have some benefitial party buff like in L2

They will be Calindor, expect all their summons to have personal and party buffs, allowing them to be 2nd rate healers, but also do damage both elemental and physical. They will be needed everywhere, although I doubt they will excel in just one category like other classes

Actually... I was quite sure the mage was the basic class that can later promote the Sorcerer and the Spiritmaster.

Anyways, my assumption is that the Sorcerer will have more burst damage, and heavier ranged damage overall, but be a very sensitive class, while the Spiritmaster will not have as much ranged power, but because it can also heal, tank, or choose extra damage, it becomes a good versatile class to fill different roles. If this game is like WoW, they might give the Spiritmaster some forms of CC too.

I believe spiritmaster will be able beat Sorcerer most of the time I've seen a Sorcerer and Spiritmaster duel and all and overall a Sorcerer is pretty weak, even when grinding for levels a monster damaged a Sorcerer for ||||| that much damage from one attack.

Now imagine if a Sorcerer had to fight a class that could do damage from two ways and healing and more, can you say interruption like crazy for a sorcerer casting.

Sorcerer will be a glass Cannon while Spiritmaster will be a beastmaster from FFXI and we all know how 1337 they were in FFXI.

I'm picking a sorcerer myself unless my friends need me to be the cleric or chanter since they all hate it.

Hahaha, I read this and thought... like emotionally sensitive.

Awww, that player who you thought was a girl turned out to be a guy? Here, have a shoulder to cry on.

But only this once. Next time, man it up or at least go get some ice cream or something.

As we said Spiritmaster is a beastmaster in cloth armor, they can adapt to any situation based on the summon they use.

They have four summons for four different situations: Melee Damage, Ranged Damaged, Healing, Tanking and the summoner with Magic damage each summon probably having a personal buff for themselves and the spiritmaster that further enhances their ability.

Mage on the other hand is just a ranged magic caster that does a good source of outburst damage, but are very fragile and will probably be one of the main targets in a PvP situation.

I forget for the life of me where this one vid is, but it's a spiritmaster PvE'ing this orc-like mob that reminded me of warlock's in WoW, but not without healing/buff capacity. While the pet was eating the mob the spiritmaster would shoot these awesome looking orbs of differing colors and at one time it seemed that they were "charging" them for a fuller effect before unleashing them and they seemed to pull the mob away from the pet many times. again, I wish I could find the vid but it definitely looks like a fun class.

EDIT: also, I think I may have seen a slight MP drain in that same vid while pet is out for spiritmaster similar to SMN in FFXI. but I can't remember for certain ><

They will be more like SMNs from FFXI Kentaro, not BSTs. BSTs weren't about adapting to their environment/fight, they were just able to summon a pet to help them solo. SMNs had many summons (using MP, like a Spiritmaster) that had all sorts of attacks, and also a buff here and there. BSTs really have nothing to do with Spiritmasters lol

And in every MMO I've played, a Sorcerer never is "weak", they are actually always more deadly than the majority of classes. They do large damage in a short amount of time. They are the "Magical Assassins" They will be absolutely VITAL to any endgame content, and deadly in PvP if they can learn to kite/stay ranged from their targets
