Why chooose SM over Sorc?

SM is a DOT class. They are very efficient at solo pve at mid levels. In group pvp they take on the "control" role primarily. They strip buffs off opponents, disarm, silence, fear, fear, fear. In solo pvp they can survive a jump and win the match if played well. DOTs do a lot of damage if allowed to tick through their full duration.

I agree with you, I personally play a sorc and consider sorcs to be better than SM's as much as having a pet is appealing to me I would rather not rely on it and atm since pets cant fly that is a big hit to any SM in PvP in the abyss for example where Sorcs are very powerful whilst flying.

I would say that SMs are better at PvE and good for solo PvE

Anyone who knows how to play a sorc effective I personally think will kill most SM's 1v1 quite easy.

A SM and Sorc of equal level and gear, a Sorc would lose 100 times out of 100.

Since i got my silence spiritmasters characters appear to be played by retarded kids who just stand still while getting killed.

u clearly know nothing of SM.

Sorc dont have the CC in PvP that a SM has (instant slow and knockback, FEAR)

they dont have nearly as many effective dots as SM.

the method of killing crap is totally different. and even though pets dont scale, theres more to the class then just the pet.

SM and Sorc are really different, and 2 totally different play styles.

and PS. at lvl 50 1v1 a SM will pwn a Sorc, instant fear ftw. not ez to get out of fear lock and silence

Really? I would say it's quite the opposite... In most pve situations fear will do more harm than good, and a Sorcerer's cc would be much preferred. Also, in groups, mobs are usually killed too fast for dots to fulfill their potential, leaving the pet to account for the dps majority--which doesn't quite measure up to a Sorcerer's burst dmg.

It's pvp where Spiritmasters truly shine, and it's for pvp reasons that people say Spiritmaster is op. xD

Some people want to have a badass looking pet following them around and others like to see big, pretty numbers.

Both classes have their strong points, but if you want people to want you and love you, be a Sorcerer. If you like being a bit of an ousted loner who knows he can kill everyone around him, be a Spiritmaster

Well, ive played a WoW Warlock for three years and i have to say i love it and the playstyle!

My yr 12 exams finish in a week and the second it does, ima buy me this game, ive been researching it for two weeks. What i can tell is that the SM is so friking uber. From all the character polls ive seen, it is the least played and one of the most difficult, what more could i ask for?

its in your game as well, press H, go to help to begginers, scroll down to the altered stats and read fear description, not working as intended

The only reason that I can see to play SM is if you like pets. Everyone talks about PvP but lets be honest, what matters most in PvP is being prepared and being higher level. There is still no evidence that PvP is a major and important part of this game as Lvl 50's are still grinding PvE let alone all the sub-50's. Sorc provides CC for group PvE and is the only class to do so. Cleric, Templar, Sorc, Chanter...the only classes that really matter.
