The tans are a family of cute software personifications. ME-tan is the most popular because like her real world counterpart, she tries really hard but still phails all the time. So she's adored. The other popular tans are XP-tan who is kinda ditzy with a usually semi-short skirt and has big ****s representing MS's first efforts to make an attractive OS and the greatly increased memory usage of XP over previous Windows. 95-tan is a traditional girl in a gi ( martial arts uniform ) with a wooden sword who tries to be very calm but ends up violent representing how MS muscled into the operating system industry with 95.

My favourite is 2000-tan who wears glasses and a lab suit over a bathing suit. Since 2000 was the most professional, highly capable and good on resources, she's pretty tall and slim with smallish ****s and is the smartest of the bunch.

Vista-tan wears a lot of transparent clothes as a nod to the glass Aero skin :P

But anyway, yeah, that's the quick and dirty.

Gong xi fa cai btw. I was late for New Years by about 4 days so this time, I'll be 4 days early for Lunar New Years! Balances out in the big picture right? If you don't know what "gong xi fa cai" means, it's roughly analogous to happy lunar New Year ( the literal meaning, however, is actually closer to "I wish you increased blessings and prosperity ).
