NCsoft released Q1 earning report.

NCsoft released it's Q1 2009 earnings report today. Contained within it is some very interesting hard data about Aion. Did you know Aion "only" has 41 servers in Korea but 113 servers in China?! I didn't. What's even more intriguing, though, is the new projected launch windows for Aion in North America and Europe...



So now, instead of Q3 or Q4 2009 we're looking at 2H 2009, the second half of 2009.

I've attached the .zip file that includes the report (in .pdf format) to this newspost. The quarterly investor conference call was also released to the public, available via streaming or direct download. I haven't listened to either version yet, but they might be something worth listening to.

South Korea's leading online game company, said Monday that its first-quarter earnings quadrupled on-year on strong sales of its new flagship game title. Net income amounted to 33.5 billion won (US$27.2 million) in the January-March period, up 315 per cent from 8.1 billion won a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing.

* Sales increased by 51.4 per cent on-year to 133.4 billion won, with operating profit climbing 128.34 per cent to 42.5 billion won, it added.

* The company attributed the surge in the bottom line was attributed to a rise in the sale of its fresh game title, 'Aion'.

So instead of having a more specific 'Q3' or 'Q4' we now just have a very vague 'Last 6 months of 2009'.

Not exactly the best of news, infact it probably signifies a few details still need to be ironed out for the NA/EU release - details which could take a while to get sorted causing a vague release date to be necessary.

Good to hear the Japanese and Taiwanese releases are still shaping up well though.

It seems we will be Q4 anyways, if taiwan and japan are in Q3. I don't suppose they will be jammed packed together, despite the fact that it is different companies.

lol, 2nd Half of 2009. Tells us so much we don't know already. As they already said 2009 and the first half of the year is about over. Aion will be with us at some point, some where, some day. Looking forward to it whenever it does though.

By saying 2nd half they mean late summer-december
By saying Q4 they mean October-November-December.
So, 2nd half is not worse than Q4..2nd half also includes a game launch at august-september (lol i hope so)
If it eventually launches on December its not a "loss" cause it would be in the deadline of Q4 too
So 2H>>Q4

Make it more vague why don'tcha?
Naw, but, it would be super nice if Aion somehow ended up being released in August or September. I won't get my hopes up though, because that seems way too optimistic. If anything they'd be more vague about the date because it's going to be later than expected.

Either way, as long as it comes out relatively on schedule I'll be happy. I need to get my game on!
