Pre-order and pre-purchase got into the beta, in pre-purchase you don't get the box, just the key and you have to download the game from the web.

I pre-ordered the CE too (got the key the next day), with 50 000 I have the feeling that everybody will have it, which makes it less unique... bit still

You need to pre-order the CE edition to get beta access, don't think the standard copy pre-order gives you beta acess.

Is there anyway to try the game without having to spend the money to play it? I have heard some mixed results from people who have tried it and want to try the game but I don't want to spend $50 bucks to do it.

I believe any pre-order will get a beta key. Standard as well as CE.

Yes. It's called open beta. If you don't want to wait about 6 weeks you can put down 5 bucks somewhere that still has the pre-order kit.

I tried to pre-order the CE edition from gamestop. Unfortunately, I was told that NCSoft wasn't accepting any more pre-orders

. Just my luck I guess

Gamestop cut off their sku to reserve Aion CE because they had sold their alloted amount. The people who keep referring to their local Gamestops must only be talking to part timers who have no clue and don't have access to emails. If you want to know something, ask to talk to a manager or 3rd key.

I haven't pre-ordered the game yet, but I did get a beta key by subscribing to fileplanet. I think it may be too late for that though.

Edit:
Went ahead and ordered the CE on Amazon since it was still available. Will I be able to use this beta code along with the Fileplanet code? Maybe me and my Son can play together.

It depends. I work for GameStop and we've been giving the keys out to everyone who preordered because we had a lot of keys. Unfortunately no one can preorder the CE anymore but we still have about 15 keys to give out to regular preorders.
