First off, I think the name Spirit Mage sounds better than Spiritmaster -.-. And also, WTF?? Fire Ranged? Wind melee? I think they made it that way to get away from the traditional role of fire actually being the melee type, but that just makes it seem a bit ridiculous..? I think they will switch roles by the time the game comes out, or something like that.

I like the sound of spiritmaster personally.. but maybe they might change them before release ,or maybe someone just got their info wrong on the appropriate fighting/healing styles each summon will have...?? to early to really determine any 'real' solid information, just the name is official atm..

But wind as healer? That just doesn't sound right. Water is the element of life... It just makes sense that it would heal. I could see fire going as melee or ranged, but I think wind works a lot better ranged, which would put fire to melee. However, I still like my original idea of wind being single target and fire being AoE. As chaotic as fire is it could certainly be the default AoE... wind/air always seemed really precise to me, so large single target damage would fit... either way, as long as wind and fire are both damage it won't seem weird to me, but even if it does initially seem weird I won't really care that much.

this vid shows that water is ranged and fire is melee. wind seems like some sort of melee too, but i am not too sure.

Well... as for water, it's just showing that it has a ranged attack. Of course it's going to have some attack, but that by no means means it doesn't focus on healing.

That's from August, though... Ayase is saying now water is healing, so I've gotta go with that. I'm just saying of course they're all going to have attacks (wind and water ranged probably and fire and earth probably melee), but they're going to specialize in different things, and the latest information we have says that water with specialize in healing. It's what I'm used to, so I approve, and it's the latest information we have, so I believe it.

Check the third page of this thread, Ayase wrote:
"There may or may not have been a mix-up there."

So (except this mixed-up press release) according to vids, concept arts we know that: wind:ranged healing, water: ranged attack, earth: melee tank, fire: melee dmg-dealer.

Yes, I saw it... I do read entire threads before I post (I know, we're a dying breed). The mix-up as I interpreted it was in reference solely to fire and wind being ranged vs. melee damage (fire was reported as ranged damage, but used a sword/shield), and neither of the other elements (earth and water) were involved in said mix-up.

Well i have seen how all 4 stages of Fire Earth and Water looks like, but havent you all seen the 4th creature as well? the 4th summon is a small creature that usual goes meele.
Of course i might be wrong and it might perhaps just be the starter summoner pet.
