The best wow guild in the world are leaving wow for a game not even released yet? Tells alot about wow. A guild like Nihilum have spent untold hours practicing on the same bosses, Aion will be totally different. Respect for grinding 100 hours on Illidan but Aion will be a different story. Did you see Nihilum's pvp results in the world tournament? Pve gods do not equal pvp legends. Keep to the mindless boss strategies

For example, they downed the hardest boss (until patch 2.4 comes) in the game two weeks after he was patched into the game. They've gotten innumerable world first kills along with that. But I'm sad to see them spreading Aion to their fanboys. |

Hugh, I don't give rat's bum how worshiped this guild is or what ranks they have and how much fanboyism or hate these people get, I'm just happy they have such a lovely article on their site and hopefully that means more people will be less ignorant about Aion.
Great job Arkhaal! /sigh... |

Howl, and anyone else who wonders, Nihilum is basically the top raiding guild in WoW. They've had world first kills on most bosses, and usually put dungeons on farm status before anyone else. To get into the guild is very hard and they get sponsorships for playing as well (I think). It's an EU guild btw. The top NA guild is debatable, though many would say it's the guild Death and Taxes. But worldwide, Nihilum is pretty much on top.
I usually trust their articles -- their info seems to be valid. It's true though, that many players in WoW look up to their guild and its players. EDIT: And I didn't even notice there was a second page to this thread. -_- Good going me. Yeah, if they really are switching to Aion, then it's likely they'll be some of the biggest competition. However, they don't know anything more about it than we do (many here probably know more, actually) so it will definitely be equal ground, at least at first. I think the caliber of players they'll be facing in Aion will be much higher, though... >=) __________________ How to know if your mission here is finished: If you're alive, it isn't. I'm playing WoW, and probably don't have the same level as Nihilum but I'm pretty sure to be near their and I'm playing 7/7 when a new content is released during months.
And you think the same thing about me as you do for Nihilum ? I'm too dumb to play a NCSoft game with more than 2 keys and I've got the mentals of a 15 yo ? There is 9 Millions subscribers on WoW, what do you think the population in Aion will be ? 70% of new people never played a MMORPG, 20% of Lineage 2 and 10% of FFXI ? Of course not, It will be like 50% of WoW players, 30% of l2/ffxi and 20% others (fps,rts,new,f2p...) because there isn't the place for 70% (or even 20%) new players to a mmorpg like aion (less noobi/casualfriendly than wow). If RFO was released/adapted to the EU/NA, it's because WoW opens the way to the MMORPG massmarket, and so Codemaster can grabs some subscribers to them, and this will be the same for Aion, the majority of the players will came from WoW, you can't do anything to that. Few days before, there was a thread talking about the "hype" and the fact that aion got less popularity than WAR or AoC, and now that there is some articles poping on WoW websites, everyone goes 'oh noes, not the wow population'. Next be sure I'll be writing articles for huntingandfishing.co.nz, the best website for hunting and fishing information and equipment in New-Zealand. I won't talk about Nihilum, I'm not a member nor a fan, I'm just writing stuff cause I like that, that's all, and if Nihilum was a bunch of kids, I wouldn't do that, believe me. Final point : what makes you think that readers from aionsource is more intelligent and mature than readers from nihilum or other wow website ? Your threads with 200 ppl answering over 5000 subscribers ? :/ Check elitistjerks.com for exemple, there is a bunch of game mechanics analyzing, mod coding (I'm not talking about designing UI, but writing addons) and other threads prooving that WoW players can be intelligent and mature. Repeating rumors and nonsense without any proof probably show that you can be at the same level as those "kids" playing WoW. I like aionsource & WoW community, and I like plenty of games, I'm just open minded (probably). Of course there is a part in the wow community that makes my eyes bleed, but its the same thing in E V E R Y games, it's just cause the WoW community is 9Millions big, that makes you feel worried, but i'm sure that the Aion community won't be only made of the dumbest players of wow, there will be a percentage of kids, like other games, that's all. PS : publishing an Aion article doesn't mean that nihilum is leaving WoW for Aion... it's a community website currently extended to do more articles about games, hardware... P.S 2: About the PVE/PVP part, and the transition PVEWOW = NOOBSKILLPVPAION, I LoL'D. It's not like doing the transition pacman -> starcraft korean skill level. |

You've got a point, arkhaal. I don't know much about these guys, other than what people just told me, but all I've said (personally, can't talk for everyone else) is that it'll be hard for them to adapt.
Personally, I don't like clans or guilds, no matter who runs them or makes up most of their membership. They're glorified mindless gangs to me. Mindless with a mission, like zombies with shotguns under the command of some dude with a bloated ego on a quest to rule the world, kill all the bosses before everyone else, and own the phattest loot. I often make a guild for just myself in whatever games I join, such as GuildWars ([GWN], GuildWars Nation, was mine). I don't like taking orders and I don't like having to take the blame for failure. I don't like being beaten in 6v1 combat. I like playing on an even field. I don't expect a game that'll cater to my wishes to come out any time soon, so I'll do the best I can: make a ranger and run around perpetually cloaked, sniping the **** out of parties and ****ing people off. They shouldn't be partying in the first place. Fight like a man, even if you aren't. Hit me with a staff if you must. |

Well i'm positive Nihilum is a multi gaming guild which means they've got divisions for alot of game, like one guild in one, one in Aion for example. So they don't really need to leave Wow for aion. As for the Wow community it can really tick me off, so many players seem to be people who's not neccesarily kids like you say, but people full of ego that flame others and act like they're better due to the fact that they've got better rating in PvP, got the better gear, or the best guild.
Arkhal has a very valid point though, there will be people like that in every game, the fact you notice it so well in Wow is because alot of ppl play wow, bound to be alot of idiots around. Still I don't like the Wow community, I can't speak for the entire game but I sure as hell can speak for my own server, where i've been for 2+ years. On my server, everyone who's in a hardcore guild acts c o c k y, rude and thinks he's better then you. Proof is that they take advantage of their rep by acting "i'm the best", they flame others if they feel like it and they totally ignore the people who is low level / not as good as them. If you're less skilled then them, then your opinion ain't valid and if you dare argue with one you'll have the whole guild on your azz. They don't neccesarily need to be kids, just idiots which I think is what we should blame, not kids because they might be nice. And there will be idiots in any game. __________________ People live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true. That's how they define Reality. What's with all the haters?
Best MMO communities in my opinion are ones that offer the most diversity, in both game-play and players. Asking for a game with only mature, serious and friendly gamers will not only result in a small community but a boring one. And Mark if you want an even playing field, the more people the better. Smaller communities tend to yield more dominant guild/clans anyway. And for all you who can't see it let me illuminate the fact that when NCSOFT says "Westernize" Aion it means "WoWisize" (can you think of a more successful in EU/NA MMO or for that matter anywhere). Their taking the GOOD aspects of L2 and games like it, some really good graphics, and applying it to the WoW formula. The fact is, WoW is successful, despite all its immature players and mindless easy content. It's not the game for me, and I know alot of WoW players who feel that way but just can't find anything better. I hope Aion is a good fit for all of them who feel that way. Love, Daft. Thanks Nihilum for bumping the game. The more people the better the developers will work to please us =). __________________ If you can't join them, kill yourself. |

Oh well, no reason to worry about something that hasn't happened yet. Game's not even out, don't know why I'm getting worked up over imaginary guilds and whatnot. Whatever.

Very good write-up, enjoyed reading it.
As far as all the hate towards Nihilum goed, I don't get it. Every game will have a clan/guild/whatever who will be the "best" (most kills / first to kill everthing / etc.), it's just human nature. As long as others still get to play in their own way, let them. I hope this game attracts all kind of players, from the most casual to the most hardcore ones, and let's them co-exist and work together in one vast world. |
