Not meaning to be picky but I would like to point out to people that the only official download sources that have been provided by NCSoft are via FilePlanet and their BitTorrent. If you choose to download the CBT to OBT patcher, or the full 1.5 client, via another source (i.e. Rapidshare or Mediafire) then you will need to be careful you are downloading a legitimate file.

If you are unsure whether the zip file you have downloaded is legitimate then you should follow the instructions provided by NCSoft below to verify that your zip file is a legitimate match to theirs:

1. Download the Windows MD5 checksum tool here. Full usage instructions can be found in this Microsoft KB.
2. Copy the MD5 tool to the same directory as your AION zip file that you downloaded.
3. Press and hold the Windows key and then press the R key on your keyboard. A Run dialogue box should appear.
4. Type in "cmd" without the quotes, and click OK.
5. Navigate to the folder that you have the Aion zip file downloaded to.
6. Now run the MD5 tool to check your Aion zip file by entering the following line at the command prmpt where (filename.zip) is the file you downloaded: fciv (filename.zip) Example: fciv AionFullInstaller_1.5.0.1.zip
7. The checksum will take several minutes to compute. The results should match one of the strings below. You do not need to use this specific utility, you can pick any md5sum utility you decide, but the results should match the results below exactly.

I did upload to those sources myself, but I suppose if you want to check go right ahead. I also zipped the files myself as well, so I doubt it's going to match since I used the store option to make unzipping faster, and to split the folder in pieces in order to be uploaded.

Can't even do a nice thing these days =/

I live out in the country a ways so my options for internet are limited. Been on dial-up and satellite in the past. Currently on Verizon mobile BB. Started to d/l the patch @ 1000 yesterday and it finished at 0300 this morning. At the start it was d/l'ing @ 120 K and said it would take 8 hours (this was from file planet). Frequently dropped to 50 K or so. Ended this AM at 150 K. What I wouldn't give for DSL or cable. Now that it is done I am afraid to install in case it's corrupted (lol). Guess I will wait until after the 31st so all the planets are in alignment.

I was about to download AION and install it....but how do I know if have it updated? I downloaded it from FilePlanet. But I still have a few questions...

-For the first time I launched Aion I got to the login screen, I saw that It worked so I exited. I try to launch Aion later, and it says that Aion is not available in the country. How to fix this?

-If we get a key for the OBT (6-13th) do we have to pay for that time of playing?

-Whenever I try to launch Aion (if it works or not) a gameguard window (internet explorer) pops up and tells me to download it....even though I did download...

And could someone please tell me the system requirements to run Aion? It's awfully bad on my Vista Laptop :S Any advice?

I'm probably forgetting some questions but I'll be back if that happens....

Yeah several people seem to be getting this right now, it seems to be just a random bug. I'm sure it will be fine once the OB starts.

You "should" be able to use the same disks to install on both systems but, if I understand things correctly, you going to have to pay twice for the game no matter what if you want to run 2 accounts. By this I mean you can buy one hard copy that has disks but you would also need to at least buy a second digital copy from NCSoft or another store of the game to get a second key. You won't, to the best of my knowledge, be able to just buy an account - you will need to buy the whole shebang 2 times one way or another and then a subscription for each key. Thats how NCSoft makes their money

I can't help with this one either, it's an unknown for me. I suggest taking the issue straight to the NCSoft Technical Team via a support ticket.

Just a thought: This isn't really a questions and answers thread for all things Aion lol (just scrolled up and read some rather random posts in here) this is the news section. If you have questions about the game then I would say you'll get a better response if you head to the Q&A section of the forum. I don't mean to be picky but there are some active trouble shooters that check the bugs and Q&A sections, so you'll benefit from posting in the right place. Likewise with bugs and issues, there is a section for that too....but above all, your best friend is the search facility on the forum (I don't know how I would survive without it )

Having the same problem. Aion setup locks up and doesn't pass install shield.

I have this same problem, just got the full client installer downloaded and it locks up everytime the installer opens. I can only close it by going into the tast manager.
