Are you serious? I've been playing MMORPGs using voice chat 'cause it is the easiest way to communicate with your party and clan members, it really helps out because you spend less time, and while in PvP, time really matters.

I think that communication methods used in-game need to be the easiest because it takes only a few seconds for everything to get screwed up
That guild I was in at guild wars folded due to the constant babbling going on over voice chat ( they used it for everything ) . Since that experience I'll use voice chat for one thing - and one thing only - and that is PvP. Some folks like to get totally oblivious to what's going on outside a game, I'm not one of those .

Dunno what have you guys seen, but it didn't look like that to me reading jamein's translation O.o

It looks like a file with a not so accurate name, which is used in other NC games without voicechat. I might be wrong tho, nothing I rca.

Before I got my laptop I would have to alt tab to talk to friends so integration with MSN would be cool. But isn't needed.

OTOH voice being integrated would be a very handy feature, but not needed since as already mentioned there are available third party products. It would just be a lot easier.

from personal experience in game voice chat tends to suck in comparison to TS or Vent.

Interesting. In-game voice chat is not all that bad depending on how NCSoft applies it, and also on the user's connection speed.
CoD4, Team Fortress 2, etc... have all in-game voice chat, and it works great (not that great on 13 years olds though...it's like a screech lol )

I personally prefer Ventrilo, it's customizable, very light, and keeps people that you want in there, not the whole bunch

I actually prefer ventrilo since people in Teamspeak sound like robots. Not to mention that you never know who joins your channel, unless you open the window.

After working with WoW's Voice Chat, I am heavily against any VC client in a game unless it is basically incorporated from quality existing software, aka packaging Teamspeak 3 into the game (or one of the many other quality alternatives).

I'd probably just stick with Vent anyway...

Lotro had in game voice chat for groups only, which worked ok-- It certainly wasn't as good as Vent, etc., but it did the job when you needed to listen/speak to others in a group, but didn't really want them spending a lot of quality time on your vent/teamspeak server. As a bare bones, just get the job done addition to a game voice chat is a nice perk, but it seems sort of unlikely at this point that any games seem interested in creating something with enough quality to replace the real deal.
