The FPS is what you see in the video. When you fraps on a fairly ok system, the fps is lowered while frapsing - but the actual video is unaffected. My FPS is around 25ish with all settings at max.

I just installed new graphic card drivers and managed to max out the settings completely now. With full AA and everything else. That lowered my FPS even more. Hehe. Basically, if you want to run Aion at max settings, you need a pretty decent PC. Mine is behind times.

If you play with medium/low settings, most pc's that can run Lineage 2 etc will have no issues. I use to play Lineage 2 on an old PC and it went just fine.

Aion is pretty well optimized already for still being in beta.

I experience no lag in the game. (lag is latency, if you refer to fps; frames per second, see what I said previously). Which is pretty surprising since the server is in Korea.

Again, please do not confuse lag with fps. Lag is your internet connection and fps is your frames per second, affected by your ram, graphic card and cpu.


By the way, I've played Lord of the Rings (last weekend) and I run it at max settings without any issues. I'm afraid your PC probably suck.

2 Gb RAM
NVIDIA GEFORCE 7600 GS,512 MB
375 GB HDD ( about 180 Gb free space )
fast DSL connection .

That's well above required specs ( it's well above recommended specs as well )


I have no fps issues with pretty much any other MMO ( including L II ) or any other recent game so it's unlikely it's the PC . Could be I have to switch server,I'm on Eldar .

Server doesn't affect fps and load times. I just explained how it works. Your bottleneck would be your graphic card. 7600 GS is a budget model.

There's also numerous other reasons that certain games might perform poorly, all from spyware to unoptimized registry or that you don't regulary defrag your hdd.

However, those things are better left for another thread. Let's stay on topic . If you want help on how to optimize your PC, you can post in 'the basement' and I will be happy to help when I have some time to spare.

I don't lag in LOTRO o_0 I played it during Beta, 8 months after that. Left, played WoW for 5 months, just returned to LOTRO and there is no lag at all. The little bit I DO get is because of my computer not being up to standards.

Zyuu, what's the hard drive you are running fraps in? Low speed hard drives affect fraps writting a lot, so does if you have a lot of activity on them while frapsing. I, thanks to some tips in this forum, purchased a fast HD (western digital raptor 10000RPM) just to run games and fraps, and to renderize 3d/encode videos and I noticed a huge difference in performance, the writting speed of that HD doesn't slow down my computer at all.

And Livvy, what kind of lag are you having?

There are 3 kind of lags i know of:

1) Graphic lag: Due to computer specs, your screen blocks for a moment completely, you can't see people moving and your char is stuck in the same position as where your lag started.

2) Upload lag: You see everyone moving normally, but you just can't, that's cause your upload speeds can't let you send packets at the required time.

3) Download lag: nobody moves, server won't send you packets, but the charks keep making the basic animations like breathing, trees moving, etc.

If someone doesn't lag in that game, the problem is yours. It would be your computer for option 1 or your ISP for options 2 and 3.

I have a raptor, 10k rpm. I know what I'm saying . Also, I fraps to a seperate HDD. That decrease load a lot. I suggest you do that too. I have 2x raptors.

I hear peeps with such problems once a week, and it's mostly due to bad cooling
add a fan in your case, use the vacuum cleaner and clean your fans with it, it all helps

you might want to try a fresh install of windows too, some peeps manage to totally f* up their windows (I format every 6 months)

I'm loving this game more and more, especially the interface is very important for me and this just looks beautiful, slick and functional
for me an mmo hits or falls with it's interface, I've seen so many bad interfaces, ugly, tiny buttons, unresponsive etc...

I can't wait to get my hands on this game, and I really hope it does better where WoW fails (yeah another WoW player, tho I quitted for the second time now), seen the raiding but went into the wrong direction (the no-lifing direction, if you want to get somewhere in WoW)

dunno if I can ask this here, but I read somewhere that there are solo dungeons/instances
how true is this?

Most of the unstability problems in Lineage came from GameGuard. NCSoft should get rid of it and other rootkits.
