Games Convention 2008 (GC08) in Leipzig is coming up soon and I still don't have a plane ticket. It's time for me to ask for something I haven't asked for in nearly two years: donations. Insert dramatic music here.

All I need is airfare, which has become extremely expensive recently. I'll take whatever I can get and then ask relatives and friends for the rest. The goal is the cost of a ticket from Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) to Leipzig/Halle Airport (LEJ), leaving on August 18th and returning on the 25th, which is currently around $1600 (USD). This number may change. I've got a press pass and a passport, I'm all ready to go. Prolific AionSource.com member lyankyj has even extended a very reasonable room offer I can afford without any extra financial help.

What will you get out of this? If you show up at the convention itself, you'll get me (and I might have some AionSource.com goodies with me). If you're stuck at home you'll get many, many pictures, as many videos as possible, plus interviews and colorful commentary. If at all possible, I'll try to take home with me something special from NCsoft, whether that be swag or preview passes. Basically, I'm going to GC08 to ensure every active member stuck at home surfing on AionSource.com gets to feel what the convention is like and to spread the word about our awesome little community.

What say you?

I can't contribute until I get paid next Friday, But I'll definitely help out. I was happy to pay for a subscription back in the day, so I'll be happy to help what I can here.

For you other people, think about the hours of entertainment you get from perusing AionSource.com and how much those hours of entertainment would cost you in another form. In other words, DONATE, even if its a small amount, you'll directly be contributing to your own entertainment in the form of a great coverage of GC08.
