Okay peoples. Here's the deal. If the OST does come out with the CE, I imagine what will happen is that NCSoft will package them as .mp3s as a cost saving method. Furthermore, they'll just rip at whatever standard they want, likely 128 or 192kbbps. A .mp3, track for track, is not worth as much as a track straight from an actual music CD. You cannot re-encode a .mp3 to a different format while straight from the CD, you can encode to whatever format you want ( after converting to .wav ). Now if they actually give you an audio CD with your CE, then what I'm saying is moot. But I doubt they will.

Just get the CD. You will:
a. Get it sooner ( AION release date = ?? )
b. Get more use out of it ( Encode to whatever you want, works in standard CD player )
c. Enjoy higher quality ( Source material is highest fidelity )

I have to say, this OST has some of the most ridiculous track names ever. They are so generically epic! The Wings of Knight? Forgotten Sorrow? Come on! My friends and I always make fun of it.

Well, there are American Bands that have ridiculous names and get away with it...Limp Biskit? (huge WTF rock-wannabe), Blink182? (Oh I wanna be an elementary school rebel), Slipknot (We'll hide the nonsense behind hideous RAP lyrics, Yo!)....at least Koreans have the "language barrier" excuse.

What makes you believe they wouldn't? They have to put the game on discs anyway. Vanguard's soundtrack was a separate CD. CDs are cheap to produce.

Now if you have instances where companies releasing games with a soundtrack have only offered them in MP3 format, I'd be interested to hear who they were and draw some comparisons.

if you haven't noticed almost anything translated into english sounds retarded. But I'm sure if you read it in the native language and understood the idiom it would appear way more epic. English ftl.

I don't know a single instance where an actual audio CD was given.

That said, all that comes to mind is Flagship Studio's Hellgate: London. Promised OST was all .mp3s. I was ****ed. Initially. Than the OST sucked anyway and I didn't care.

Hmm, I think I still have my GuildWars OST that came with the CE of the first game. I think it was an Audio CD and not just a dump of MP3s.

The thing now though is everybody includes bonus DVDs right? CD players can't play DVDs yet you promised an OST. So the logical thing to do from a business perspective is to combine the two by putting the audio CD on the DVD as .mp3s. Two birds with one stone and since a ripped OST is like what? 100MB? You've used a tiny fraction of your DVD and chances are you can still stick on that DVD everything else you wanted to stick on it.

And most people, say what you like, cannot distinguish between high quality and medium quality music. Everybody likes to say they can, but you know what? You're going to tell me you can truly appreciate and understand the nuances between 128kbbps and 192kbbps .mp3s on your twenty dollar Apple cheapies? ********. So the companies aren't loosing from that standpoint neither.

Alright, alright... It isn't bad. The first song I heard from Aion was a long time ago, and it was that song done in accapella. (Except it was in crappy synth.)

Actually all of the Guild Wars campaigns included separate CD albums with their CE's. Given that it was NCsoft who published them, I don't see why it's such a stretch to think they'd do the same to their next upcoming AAA-title aswell.

Geez, NCSoft got Jeremy Soules to do the music for GW. I'm impressed. Have you heard the music he composed for IL-2 Sturmovik? If you haven't...

I looked up the contents of the GW collectors editions and I can't find any mention of a bonus DVD. If I'm wrong, please correct me. But if they didn't previously include a bonus DVD, then they decide to include one, well go back to my previous post. CD players can't play DVDs so you wouldn't put normal audio tracks on one... and so on and so forth.

I listen to L2 very rich music in term of content... what I've heard on their website so far... I love all composition... now I want to see it "in game" music is to bring emotion to the player... I wonder of good it'll be
