Where's Tutty? Here's what I think happened..

According to the guards, Fredge and Nier, Tutty often wandered as far as the Nymph's Pond. Located convieniently among other Bellepigs.

Quote:
...Along the way to speak with Pernos, I spoke with two of Poeta's wandering guard; Fredge and Nier.
They told me that they often saw Tutty and Pernos' other animal friends wandering down past the Mercenary camp and often out as far as the Nymph's Pond...
Would a Mercenary Temp-worker, hired only to kill a few wild Porguses, notice the difference between a Wild and Tame Pig all among each other?

The Mercenarys hired out by Ampeis killed Tutty. After bringing back the body, Ampeis sells the body off to Baevrunerk.

Quote:
We have people come through here looking for extra work and I give it to them. Kill a few bellepigs, earn a few kinah, then they're off and I don't see them again.
They're happy, and I'm happy. What's the crime there?
Tutty's body is then sold by our resident Shugo to the Dukaki, where Tutty is later found roasting.
He succesfully manages to not mention Tutty at all, only mentions he'd never go to Pernos' house.

Quote:
You see, Ampeis hires glorious warriors, such as yourself, and they kill those greedy bellepigs who eat all our tasty mushrooms, nyerk!
Shugo buys the mushrooms and the bellepigs from Ampeis and sells them to humans, dukaki
- you see it is a good good business. Much much kinah, akakak!
But never ever does Shugo do such terrible things as killing pets, no not such terrible terrible things!
Ampeis is a good partner, yes definitely good, but he is the one who hires and collects and sells such things to Baevrunerk.
You, wise Daeva, must know that this would be the fault of the seller, not the buyer, nyerk!
Fault lies on Ampeis' mercs, while Ampeis and Baevrunerk just dispose of the evidence!

Criminal: Baevrunerk

Reason: This is how I believe it all went down. Since the shugo was a partner with the mercenary to obtain mushrooms and bellapigs, he is in the best interest to receive them at a low price and sell at a higher price. The greater the difference, the greater his profits. In the investigation, it mentions that his Cube business wasn't doing all that great. Since Shugos are desperate for Kinah, he probably has to work part time to keep up with his Kinah goal. This part time job I'm talking about is the mushroom and bellapig business. If the Shugo spends sometime to go into the Dukaki area himself to obtain mushrooms and kill bellapigs, he could bypass the fees from the mercenary and earn a greater profit.

In the investigation it mentions that he lost his cube in there. He probably brought the cube to collect and hold the mushrooms and bellapigs. However, when he got there, he witnessed that Tutty was destroying his mushroom. In an attempt to save the mushrooms, the Shugo accidentally kills Tutty. Only then did he realize it was Pernos pet, Tutty. Since he has no use of a dead porgus, he quickly fled the scene before anyone could link him to the death of Tutty. As he was fleeing, he accidentally dropped the cube that contained the mushrooms. Of course, thats a huge loss to him, and so he would hire another person to retrieve the cube for him because he is scared of going back himself due to the crime he committed.

#3

After thorough examination of the various suspects I have come to the conclusion of who is responsible for the death of a Mr. Tutty Bellepig. You see, there is only one suspect who had sufficient access to the Dubaki settlement, along with motive. And that man, or should I say SHUGO, is Baevrunerk!

By killing the Bellepig, he could then offer his kill to Ampeis for the reward for bellepig elimination. After receiving his coveted kinah, he proceeded to the Dubaki settlement where he then sold the dead bellepig as food, thus receiving two payments for one corpse!

It is quite possible he has done this many times, and further investigation is recommended as to other missing bellepigs.

#4

The culprit is the shugo Baevrunerk!

Shugos live to make money, and Baevrunerk , who was unsuccessful in the cube expansion business was in the side business of selling mushrooms to make extra money. As a shugo, he does not show any loyalty toward any faction or race, and deals with Asmodians, Elyos, and Dukaki alike, all for the sake of money. Therefore, he has no moral obligations against selling Tutty to the Dukaki for profit.

He says he would never do anything as terrible as killing pets. Perhaps not but all he would have had to do was lure Tutty away and sell him, not necessarily do any killing. He probably used this to justify the act to himself. Such a devious little monster.

Furthermore, it is a fact that among the suspects, he is the only one that the Dukaki are not hostile toward. Any humans caught wondering the Dukaki mines are attacked on sight. There was no way for the other suspects to interact with the Dukakis to make the transaction.

The final nail on the coffin is that Baevrunerk is the only suspect with evidence that puts him at the scene of the crime. The cube that he lost is right next door to the camp where poor Tutty was lured and slaughtered. Coincidence? I think not!

Apprehend this little culprit now before he makes a profit off of some other poor soul's pet!

#5

Ampeis' motive is that he needs to sell mushrooms for profit and Tutty was probably eating enough of his mushrooms along with the other bellepigs to affect his profit.

He admits to having his mercenaries "kill a few bellepigs." He could have easily had one of them kill Tutty. The evidence may have been even more obvious. So why not use some mushrooms to lead Tutty to the Dukaki settlement. The Dukaki kill Tutty and Ampeis looks innocent except for when he admits to actually having bellepigs eliminated.

Therefore, I choose Ampeis to be arrested.

#6

I believe Pernos is the culprit.

Both Uno and Ampeis have stated that Tutty gets into the mushrooms and potions. Ampeis has even seen Pernos giving potions to his forest friends.

As for motive, Pernos lives a solitary life by choice. He does not like dealing with people, easily getting flustered just talking. When Uno, Kalio's griffon, Baevrunerk and Ampeis are all bugging him constantly about Tutty, it's become quite bothersome for Pernos. After Tutty ran off on another potion+mushroom high, Pernos decided that noone can have have his friend, and let the Dukaki have it.

Perhaps as an afterthought, Pernos thought he could fool the investigator into blaming someone else for the crime, for surely it was their fault he had to let go of Tutty. If they get locked away, it's one less person to bug him about his other friends.

#7

I think it was tutty's own fault. each suspect have their own theories but not enough evidence to prove that they are at fault even tho pernos sounds more suspicious than the others 4. Why? this line caught my attention "It's a sad day when a man's pet cannot even live it's life without being thought of as dinner or a mushroom theif or being chased by griffons or worrying about which potion he shouldn't... never mind that" so it should be his own fault. let's imagine tutty going through perno's potions and he drinks it..nothing happens for awhile...then dear tutty just goes around the forest probably eating or playing with other animals and suddenly the potions starts to have some sort of strong effect he starts feeling dizzy, he can't breath and can't see. Then his heart starts beating fast and then stops and die. One of the Dukaki Brawler sees him there dead..and he thinks he'd be a nice dinner for tonight and picks him up and rost him. and that's when we get there and see him dead. In the end it wasn't dukaki brawler or the cooker or the shugo or the chef or the griffon but tutty's own fault. and probably perno's for not watching his own pet :]

#8

I'd like to arrest Ampeis.

I believe that he never indicated to his workers that there were any pet porguses. Pernos said that Tutty was a very curious Porgus and often times he would nearly kill himself with a potion, him wandering off to eat some mushrooms is very likely. Without any reason not to an adventurer killed Tutty and brought the body to Ampeis, expecting his reward.

Ampeis immediately recognized Tutty though, and knew he would be in trouble, he had to get rid of the body. He decided it would be best to try and split the blame between two possible criminals though, and that's where his plan failed.

Not being known for his cooking skills, he still attempted to create a meal that would point to Uno. That didn't pan out as he had planned, so he went with a backup plan to mix the blame and attempt to confuse the investigator. Going into a Dukaki cooking area while they were distracted by his mercenaries gave him ample time to sneak in, set up the scene, and get out of there with plenty of time to spare.

X - Uno - A renowned chef known for winning cooking contests yearly would never give up a meal like that.

X - Kalio - He said the griffon only chased wild porguses, but I don't really believe that. I do however feel that he would only chase Tutty, and perhaps that's the reason he ran into an adventurer.

X - Pernos - The owner of Tutty and had already had plenty of accidents with potions already, but truly loved his pet and wouldn't leave him for the Dukaki to eat.

X - Baevrunerk - A somewhat unambitious Shugo who can only do basic cube expansions. The middle-man for sales between mercenaries and the Dukaki. If he had killed Tutty he wouldn't have sold it to the Dukaki, Uno would have surely offered more than what scavengers could pay.

O - Ampeis - The criminal. A mercenary who hires aspiring adventurers to blindly kill any porguses interrupting his business and then sells the bodies to Baevrunerk.

#9

I think Pernos should be arrested. He had mentioned that Tutty liked to get into his potions and that he had close calls with Tutty and some of his concoctions.
I think Tutty was killed by one of Pernos potions and instead of ruining his reputaion as a kind old man that tames animals, he left tutty in the woods. There is a path to the settlement close to Pernos house, would be easy to dump the body up there for the Dukaki to find.

#10

Kalio's Gryphon did it. It is obvious that his love for the animal makes him wish to believe the best for his pet, even though many around Kalio speak of the animal's knack for getting into all kinds of things. The excuse that he only chases wild porguses gives the animal too much credit considering his nature already shown by previous actions. The animal is not watched and opportunity is a fundamental element of crime.

#11

Baevrunerk is the guilty suspect. Evidence from the suspect interviews shows that he had means, motive, and opportunity to commit the crime.

Means: Baevrunerk admitted to trade dealings with the Dukaki. Of all the suspects, he is the only one that could safely travel in Dukaki territory. According to Pernos, Tutty had a curious personality, which would make it easy for the shugo to lure him into Dukaki Territory.

Motive: Kinah - the driving force for all Shugos. By bringing Tutty to the Dukaki, Baevrunerk would profit by trading Tutty to the Dukaki. He would also profit by eliminating one of the bellepigs interfering with his mushroom business

Opportunity: We know that Baevrunerk engages in trade with the Dukaki. We also know that he has travelled to Dukaki territory, as his cube was found deep in Dukaki territory.

Arresting:
Baevrunerk & Ampeis

In the end greed always takes its toll and this is just such a tragic case. With the recent cooking contest coming up, Uno had contacted Baevrunerk for delivery of a fresh young bellepig which he could use to prepare his entry. Baevrunerk of course getting his bellepig from Ampeis passes on the word and before long they have a healthy young porgus delivered to them by and ambitious young adventurer. At this time the victim known as Tutty is still alive as Uno only takes the freshest of ingredients for the annual cooking contest.

Baevrunerk takes the bellepig to Uno whom imediately recognizes it from his dealings with Pernos and turns the pig away. It is about this time that knews of the pig's absence is stirred up, Baevrunerk returns to Ampeis with the pig. Afraid of prosecution for the theft the two decide it is in their interest to make sure the pig doesn't re-surface.

Ampeis is left to kill Tutty while Baevrunerk must find a way to dispose of the evidence. As Baevrunerk is already on his way to the Dukaki settlement he conveniently arranges a deal for the spare porgus. Ampeis is notified and later delivers the porgus to the dukaki during his regular errands.

A short trail of evidence should be enough to convict both beginning with the testimony of Uno. Having seen Tutty the day of the disappearance when Baevrunerk and Ampeis came to deliver it he conveniently left out any reference to knowing either of the two. Although he may be guilty of obstruction Uno is not guilty of the killing.

Baevrunerk's testimony is also very telling along with the cube left at the dukaki settlement proving his presence there. In his last statements he sets the ground for his defense by blaming the seller and not buyer, again setting up a defense should Ampeis be caught. Baevrunerk also does everything he can to cast blame on everyone except his partner.

Ampeis doesn't give away as much in his testimony but does a very good job of trying to setup Uno. He unfortunately corroborates Uno's story of going to see Pernos multiple times. The reason for setting up Uno is quite simple however, if he does mention them and the pig him and Baevrunerk can simply say they left it with Uno, alive. Neither Ampeis or Baevrunerk provide details of where they were or what they were doing and so the story is easily put together without any contradicting evidence.

Well... This was a hard case.
You could actually blame anyone for killing Tutty.
But luckily you have a genius like me solving the problem.

You see, after few minutes of reading and Paint™ing, I found the reason ,why Tutty was murdered so brutally.

The murderer is:
Ampeis

As I read what he said first time, it seemed to me that he is a descent fellow, who wouldn't harm even Gumi.
But my genius mind said otherwise.
I started to read what he said. Again and again.
After few minutes of that I noticed this:

Ampeis is a lepharist!

Even that image contains enough information to get him into jail.
But I won't stop here. There are another questions to be answered before I can end my case.

"Why and what would a lepharist do on Poeta?"
As you know, Lepharists do anything the can to overthrow the current government (and they seemingly have a poison fetish).

Apparently he was sent in undercover mission to Poeta.
He was doing the usual lepharist stuff: Manipulating things, causing chaos and doing some sort of poison research on Qooqoos (And polluting the nature while doing that, turning the elims into some sort of awesome penguin throwing laser rangers).

Could there be even better way to cause chaos on small island of Poeta than killing a bellepig?
Of course not!
So he sneaked to Perno's place at night. Stole Tutty.
Took it to he's home. Tortured it brutally. Slew it.
And lastly gave it to his shugo partner(just some sort of business partner), Baevrunerk. Baevrunerk, typical shugo who just tries to gain profit, sold the bellepig to kobdolts without knowing the horrible background that the bellepig had.
And so everyone could blame kobdolts for murdering Tutty.

And:

I "end this case" with one more picture

Ampeis
is

Suspect Arrested: Baevrunerk

Reasoning: As mentioned by many people the reason for a Shugo is to earn Kinah, that is it, and Baevrunerk was of course struggling due to his lack of skills and what the skills he did possess were worth. Due to this, and several other factors that will be mentioned in the oncoming explanation I have reason to believe that Baevrunerk was the culprit in the case of the stolen porgus, Tutty. Now when during the questioning of the Shugo he openly admitted to trading with the Dukaki on many occasions and was also very sketchy about the fact his Ancient Cube was found in the mines, deep in the mines at that. It is said, by Uno, that on the day of Tutty's disappearance, Pernos was not at his home, and Pernos being the only reason Baevrunerk was scared to venture there it left him the perfect opportunity to take Tutty and sell him to the Dukaki to increase his profits. In conclusion, I believe Baevrunerk was struggling for money and decided to steal Tutty and after hearing Uno mention Pernos being missing the day of he went on a normal mushroom trade, stole Tutty, and sold him to the Dukaki with the mushrooms to cook him with, and of course dropped his Ancient Cube in the process.

#15

Everything really fell together after I spoke with Ampeis, but the story begins with Baevrunerk...

The problem with Shugos, you see, is that they are nowhere near as cute and cuddly as they seems. Our particular Poeta profiteer -- never satisfied with above-board dealing with humans and Daevas -- had taken to dealing with the Dukaki to earn money. To be more specific, he had found out a certain secret about a certain mercenary named Ampeis (the nature of which I am still investigating) and had leveraged this information to "convince" Ampeis to sell him wild mushrooms at a deep discount. Our furry friend would then pack bushels of the delicacies into his Ancient Cube and head off to sell them to the Dukaki for a massive profit.

There was only one problem with this plan: the local bellepigs were eating the wild mushrooms, and in turn eating into Baevrunerk's supply. This led to some angry Dukaki, who chased the Shugo out of their strip mine when he tried to mix in some dry, tough Eltnen desert mushrooms with a short order of the favored Poeta variety; in his haste to escape their wrath Baevrunerk dropped his Ancient Cube.

Angry at the loss of profits and even MORE angry at the loss of his Cube (which would require spending Kinah to hire a mercenary to retrieve it), Baevrunerk started to put pressure on Ampeis. However, the bellepig population was completely out of control, especially since so many of Poeta's mercenaries had unexpectedly Ascended within the span of a few short weeks.

Ampeis had a solution: Kalio's Griffon. It was known to wander off, and it was a simple matter to lure it into the forest and let nature take its course. Given how accustom Kalio was to his Griffon going missing, Ampeis probably believed he could pull this stunt on a daily basis, which is exactly what he started to do.

But then came what can only be described as the perfect storm of events.

One fateful day Uno traveled to see Pernos to learn the technique of taming the local wildlife. He had no intention of asking the old man to teach him anything; he instead hoped to observe from a distance and try to learn the technique himself. Uno noticed, however, that every so often an aspiring mercenary would approach Pernos and both of them would appear to enter a deep trance for several minutes at a time.

This was finally Uno's chance to get his hands on Tutty! Patiently he waited for Tutty to wander too far from his master, and then for Pernos to mediate with a mercenary. However, when he chased after the porgus, Tutty recognized the danger and ran into the forest.

Unfortunately for Tutty, Kalio's Griffon was proceeding down the path looking for a large bellepig to devour. Caught between a clever-wielding cook and a ravenous Griffon, Tutty went the only way left open: into the Dukaki strip mine.

...We all know how that decision turned out for the poor porgus.

So who is at fault? The answer to that is simple:

Everyone.

Baevrunnerk's greed led him to blackmail Ampeis.

Ampeis' dark secret and unwillingness to do his own work led him to lure Kalio's Griffon into the forest.

Kalio's inability to control his Griffon gave Ampeis the opportunity to exploit the beast to his own ends.

Uno's foolish pride as a cook and complete disregard for Pernos' wishes led him to chase Tutty away from safety.

Pernos' wrathful nature and careless attitude towards Uno led an otherwise good man to try and steal Tutty. His rather irresponsible nature and failure to put a leash on his pet could also be partly blamed.

Arguably the only party that can be held innocent are the Dukaki themselves. They did little more than act in accordance with their simple nature. Nevertheless, I understand that Pernos hired several mercenaries to visit untold suffering upon the Dukaki in return for the loss of his companion.

In the end, everyone gets what they deserve. Uno still has no porgus for his cooking competition. Kalio will be forced to better control his Griffon after this report is published. Baevrunerk no longer has a customer base in the Dukaki because mercenaries have decimated their numbers. Ampeis will have to get his hands dirty thinning the bellepig population without the assistance of Kalio's Griffon. And Pernos... well the poor man will have to live with the knowledge that a few simple measures that he didn't take would have ensured the survival of his friend.

It would seem that Justice has already been served.

#16

Baevrunerk caused Tutty's disappearance. The shugo sold the Dukaki some mushrooms. Bellepigs and porguses love mushrooms. What are the chances Tutty will get lured to the Dukaki settlement if the Dukaki can cook one heck of a mushroom soup?

Pernos and the Dukaki are practically neighbors. A mercenary camp is nearby but there is a route between Agaric Spore Road and the Kabarah Strip Mine which is rather unregulated by the mercenaries unless they scout periodically, which they don't. The only thing keeping the Dukaki at bay is the constant appearance of fungi/flora researchers and soon-to-be daevas.

Provided the Dukaki have the elevation advantage, the scent of boiling mushroom, with some spices of course, could easily find its way to Pernos' house. Let's add the fact that Baevrunerk supplies the mushroom, is a shugo, and from the way he talks of business with the Dukaki, sells them mushroom in large volumes. Here's where the elevation advantage come to play again and now with loads of dispensable mushrooms. The Dukaki are hunters but can't cross borders so why not use the mushrooms as bait; a trail of mushrooms to lure Tutty towards the settlement.

Would any adventurer suspect randomly scattered mushrooms on the forest floor for anything? Hardly. Now, would the mushroom theory conflict with the case of other suspects? Not really. Uno basically has his own story; Uno could have done it if he was chasing after Tutty while Pernos was gone. But what are the chances of fat Uno putting up a challenge? The griffon couldn't possibly wander farther than the mermaid area; there are more than enough games there for his appetite. Pernos is as careless as Kalio with his love for a pet. And Ampeis couldn't possibly have hunted a bellepig nor a porgus past the wolf infested area of Daminu Forest prior to the small mercenary camp; the same could be said of Ampeis' mercenaries since I was a part of this group myself and I never received credit for killing a porgus. Tutty could not have gone beyond the mercenary camp near the Deforested Area without Pernos.

So in the end, it was Baevrunerk's fault why Tutty died.

#17

1)It was the Shugo Baevrunerk

2) reason: AMpeis payed kinah for poeple taht would kill Bellepigs. Shugos can't resists the urge to get Kinah. He probably even used the tamed Griffin to lure Tutty into dukaki settlement and killed it probably not even knowing that it was tutty.

3) Proof: his cube was found in dukaki settlement. and during whole interview he concentrates more about selling to the investigator some mushrooms then actually talking about the case.

End
THanks.

#18

I would arrest the Shugu Baevrunerk and Ampeis
Facts:
On day 1 Uno said thet when he was wisiting Pernos he wasn't there and Tutty was gone also.
On day 3 The guards that the investigator was talking to said they saw Pernoses pets walking around alone even all the way down to the Nymph's pond (where the other bellepigs are eating mushrooms)
Day 4 Baevrunerk is trading the mushrooms and bellepigs whith Ampeis, he also trades whith dukaki.
Day 5 Ampeis is highering pepole to kill the bellepigs becouse they eat his mushrooms

Explenation
Pernos didn't take much care of his animals so they were hungry. So Tutty was looking for food, and when he found the mushrooms by the Nymphs pond he started eating them like the other bellepigs. Ampeis was mad about it but knew it's Pernoses pet. So the next time Baevrunerk came to him he asked/or payed him to lure Tutty whith the mushrooms to the dukaki and sell him to them, this time a bellepig that is alive They would then eat him (the shugo was trading mushrooms and the bellepigs that Ampeis got rid off with the dukaki). So this way Ampeis got rid of Tutty whitout blood on his hands. Baevrunerk is guilty as well as he knew and helped whith the crime.

Poof: Maybe the nimph is an eyewitness, capture a krall or dukaki for iterogation, or for enough kinah Baevrunerk would admitt the crime, tracies from Tutty on Baevrunerks cube

#19

I think Uno did it for one main reason. He lived in another village but knew way too much for not having actually lived in the village. He knew its name how it was killed etc. He knew details he shouldn't have if he was innocent which convinces me that he is the culprit. On top of that he had most motive. He wanted to buy the thing from the hermit but the hermit wouldn't sell. Also to add to the motive Tutty was cooked as well and he wanted to win the cooking contest very badly. So all in all, this sums up why I think Uno is the one who committed the crime.

#20

I believe it was the Ampeis and will make that arrest. Ampeis had motive and means to kill Tutty.

Ampeis has began his own side-business of collecting mushrooms to sell from the forest. Tutty and the Hermit's animals wandered around and passed through that area on more than one occasion, providing Tutty a chance to eat those tasty morrels.

As for what happened here is what the facts lead us to find. Tutty had wandered down and found itself in Ampeis' mushroom patch. Ampeis' had given his men orders to kill any pig they seen eating the mushrooms, and Tutty would have been no exception. To attempt to cover his deed Ampeis convinced the Shugo to sell the pig to the villagers, once the pig was eaten all evidence connecting Ampeis to it's death would be gone.

There could be reason to arrest others, the Shugo and Ampeis' mercs, since they also played a part in Tutty's death and the cover-up.

#21

After talking with all the suspects I believe
the culprit of Tutty's death is a simple choice.
It was Uno, because of his inablitiy to resist the taste of suculant pig.

Uno was seen several times harassing poor old Pernos,
and is within ear shot of Baevrunerk's stall. Knowing
that he does business with the Dukaki and is always losing
his cube. Uno is the only one that had the opprtunity to create
this tangled web of suspects through his knowledge
of everyones business endevours. Heres how it happend.

One morning Uno was on his way to again beg Pernos
for Tutty, when he saw Tutty searchng for some mushrooms
near by. Uno slowly peaked around the cornor to see if Pernos
was out of his house yet(he wasn't to Uno's own admition). With luck on his side he grabbed Tutty and ran to the Dukaki settlement to make an offer to the cooks there. In exchange for allowing Uno to cook the pig Tutty at their camp he would use his ability to get mushrooms cheap from Ampeis and would give them 5 pounds of free mushrooms. Of course the
Dukaki cooks could not resist such a great deal.Once he got back to town he saw that everyone was in a panic over Tutty's disapearance and had to quickly make up a story so that he could divert attention away form himself. He was also sure to not mention the business of Ampeis and Baevrunerk to me so that I would waste time on Kalio and his griffon. Yep Uno is the culprit alright, I better go arrest him quick!

#22

Hello, imo i belive Baevrunerk was the one that sent tutty to his doom. The first clue is that he deals with the Dukaki, the fiendish nyerk's that gobbled him up.

The second clue is that he is merchant of mushrooms, and from my personal experience, shugos will stop at nothing to make a kinah or two. This being said im sure that if he saw Tutty on his way over to the Dukaki that he would see this as a barganing tool and snatch him up. I have a feeling on one of those trips over there he ran smack into Tutty seeing how close the Dukaki and Pernos live to each other.

My third suspicion is that Tutty and Baevrunerk's cube both went missing around the same time frame, meaning that Baevrunerk was definitely in the area at the time of the crime. Also tutty and Baevrunerk's cube turned up in the same camp not more then a couple hundred feet away from each other. Could the proof be any stronger?

With all of the clues put together Baevvrunerk is without a doubt the culprit in the disappearance of Tutty.

#23

I believe the murder was committed unknowingly, by one of Ampeis' sellswords. We arrive at this conclusion through a process of elimination.

The Chef Uno did not have his interests served by seeing Tutty fed to the Dukaki; indeed it was something of a sin in his mind. And Kalio's griffin, while it surely would have given chase to Tutty, is not likely to ever have met him - by no account has Tutty ever wandered so far as the Village.

We might consider the possibility that Tutty got himself killed by sticking his greedy snout into one of Pernos' deadlier concoctions. Was the whole thing a coverup? Unlikely. Had Pernos not made such a fuss over the whole thing, no one would have given a second thought to the old hermit's pets. If Pernos had been the murderer, it would have suited him to stay quiet.

This leaves us with the two business partners - Baevrunerk and Ampeis. A Shugo conducts business but not violance. While he may well have sold Tutty's body to the Dukaki, Baevrunerk was not the murderer.

This leaves only Ampeis or, more specifically, one of Ampeis employees! We know that Tutty often wandered. Tutty escaped his warden's care, wandered into the woods where he gave chase to the native Fungie, just as any Bellepig would. That is when he came to the attention of a young warrior hired to kill just such creatures, under the employ of Ampeis. All bellepigs look alike in the wild, especially when they are hunting fungie.

Thus I do not believe this was a sinister act, but rather a case of friendly fire. According to local law, since Tutty was neither leashed nor under the care of his master at the time, Ampeis' company may not be held liable. However, in the name of good will, I shall suggest to Ampeis that he consider donating a bellepig to the old hermit, in an effort to replace his beloved companion.

#24

It was that greedy Shugo Baevrunerk, His obession for making the next dollar caused him to commit such a thoughtless crime. It all started when he was selling to Dukaki, The dukaki love to eat Porgus so typically they ask for more and more every time he visits, so the shugo sees a business opportunity, and being a shugo he jumps on it.

Baevrunerk knew that tutty was always roaming around eating mushrooms so he decided to sell tutty to the dukaki, this was a no brainer for him because he loves money, and besides he did not like pernos because he was afraid he would turn him into a ribbit, and the more he prevent the pigs from eating the mushrooms, the more he could sell.

Baevrunerk also was jealous of the success of Ampeis in his business, he wanted to take the business as his own. He was also mad at Ampeis for attempting to hire Kalio's griffon, because he did not like the griffon. So he framed Ampeis for the crime.

#25

Where's Tutty you ask? It starts out on Poeta, a small, peaceful island with a crazy chef desperate to win the Sanctum Cooking Contest. His name is Uno. But how would such a gentle Chef get away with this crime? Uno hired some friends to do the dirty deed in exchange for a few thousand kinah. He had hired the krall to find the biggest, fattest, and juiciest Porgus around and cook him over a fire pit. You see, the krall has a backround for this kind of behavior and Uno knew that nobody would suspect him. But I did. DUN DUN DUN

#26

Baevrunerk is the person who got rid of Tutty.

The evidence shows that Baevrunerk has links to the Dukaki, he even admits to selling them Bellepigs in the past for Kinah.

Another piece of evidence was the fact his cube was found in the Dukaki settlement so he had been to the settlement recently.

Which means he had the means, motive and the opportunity when Pernos left the house.

None of the other suspects fit: Unos wanted to use the pig to win a cooking competition, Kalio's Griffin: even if it had killed Tutty doesn't account for it's appearance on a spit in the Dukaki settlement, Pernos was a friend to the animals as stated by other people and even if Tutty had taken a potion it doesn't explain his appearance in the Dukaki settlement, and Ampeis has no direct link to the Dukaki so it couldn't have been him.

#27

The answer is quite simple, however, I will begin by proving the innocence of the other characters before I reveal the culprit.

Any of the suspects would have needed a motive except the griffon, as animals do not have our intelligence, so that is where I will begin. The griffon, although it did not need a motive, could not possibly have committed the crime. Why? Tutty was cooking at the settlement. Griffons do not need to cook, nor could they start a fire.

All the rest of the suspects had the ability, but who had the motive? At first Ampeis might seem like a viable candidate, with Tutty out of the picture less mushrooms would be eaten. BUT, remember again that Tutty was being cooked. Why would Ampeis cook Tutty if all he cared about was the mushrooms? Ampeis did not do it. This eliminates the Shugo as well, because the only motive he had was money, which he would get by delivering tutty to uno, who would cook it. If the shugo cooked it, uno would not be able to cook it, which would diminish it's quality and hurt uno's chances of winning the cooking contest. The shugo is clean.

So it is down to Pernos and Uno. Uno wanted to win the cooking contest, while Pernos wanted Tutty to stop messing with his potions. At first glance, Uno does seem like the obvious culprit; a porgus roasting on a spit far from where anyone will be able to find it, while Uno has one of the strongest motives. Pernos even sent you to find Tutty, which seems to prove his innocence. However, things become clear once you examine the evidence more closely. Pernos obviously has a deep-seated hatred for Uno, referring to him as a "butcher of a chef," although it is unclear why (possibly because Uno kills many of the animals in the forest). So maybe Pernos did have a hidden motive, possibly to frame Uno. Let's examine.

1. Porgus in a Dukaki settlement roasting on a spit clearly indicates it was done by a cook, which points to Uno, like Pernos wanted. However, the spit is so crudely constructed and does not exhibit the work of a master chef.

2. Pernos himself sends you to find Tutty, which would clear Pernos of blame, unless Pernos knew that someone else would be the suspect and he would not be caught.

3. Pernos was absent when Uno went to his house. Although this clue is more obvious, it is vital to proving Pernos' guilt. This also helps prove the shugo's innocence, for although I imagined Pernos might have paid off the shugo to do the dirty work ("that shugo will stop at nothing for a few coins"), Pernos would have been able to remain at his house.

4. And Pernos' final mistake: the location. Although the Dukaki might not be hunters or cooks, they are scavengers, and will eat food, such as a roasted porgus, in their settlement. Uno would never take such a huge risk, however, as Pernos simply wanted to frame Uno, he did not realize this, and thoughtlessly made this mistake.

Pernos is extremely smart; he thought he was smart enough to frame Uno. But not even Pernos could outsmart the enlightened Daeva. Take him away, boys!

#28

The disappearance of Tutty is confusing, indeed. To simplify my reasoning I will go through all involved, so as to show how I deduced how the events must have transpired.

Uno had his reasons for wanting Tutty barbecued, and he tried to buy the porgus from Pernos, however he also knew that Pernos wasnt exactly careful with his potions around his 'pets'. Since Tutty had often gotten into Pernos' concoctions, Uno wouldnt risk poisoning his precious entry with tainted porgus meat.

Kalio too is unlikely of the crime. While his griffon did chase around towns peoples pets and often kill wild animals, there was no evidence from the townspeople that the griffon actually killed any of their pets. More of a nuisance than actively aggressive toward the townspeople and their animal companions, he is an unlikely suspect. It is also unlikely that Kalio, who seems so well-liked and trusted by the townspeople, would lie.

Pernos is also an unlikely candidate to have killed Tutty. While he did seem to 'experiment' with his pets (or at the very least not keep his potions under tight enough lock and key), hes far too self righteous to have killed the porgus, and sold it for profit to a shugo, especially considering how much he hates the shady dealings of Ampeis. He is guilty, however, of not keeping a close enough eye on his pets due to being so absorbed in his research.

Next we have Bauvrunerk. As a Shugo, it is highly unlikely that he would have actively killed the Porgus, no matter the profit - and especially not lie to a Daeva about what transpired. It is, however, quite clear that Bauvrunerk sold Tutty to the Dukaki, though I believe he did not tell the difference between one Porgus or another.

This bring us to our last suspect, Ampeis. With all his mercenaries roaming about, and coming and going, its unlikely that he knows what transpires in the forest - and less likely that he cares so long as he makes his profit.

For this reason, I give a multi-fold blame for what occurred. Firstly, Pernos went off on one of his walks to study, leaving Tutty unattended and free to wander off. While Pernos was gone, Uno arrived at his home to inquire again about purchasing the animals for his recipe. Seeing Uno and knowing that he had bacon in mind - Tutty wandered off into the forest. This explains Uno's presence at the home at the time that Tutty disappeared. While wandering through the forest, Tutty and the other animals came across Kalio's griffon, who saw good sport in chasing the animals around the forest. In their terror, Tutty, Shroomer and Shroomin were separated. The griffon continued to chase the Shrooms, while Tutty ran off separate and ended up farther away from home. Tutty wandered, alone, into the area of the forest where Ampeis' men were hunting wild porgus. Without the other animal companions with him, Tutty looked just like any of the other wild porgus in the area, and was slain by one of the mercenaries. His corpse, along with those of the other wild porgus hunted that day, was sold to Bauvrenerk, who cant tell one porgus from another. Bauvrenerk then traveled to the Dukaki, as Shugo do not discriminate as long as they get their kinah, and sold them some meat for the day, which included Tutty, which was where his body was later found.

All are somewhat to blame in this incident - Pernos for not watching his pets more closely, Uno for frightening Tutty into the woods, Kalio for not keeping sharper watch on his griffin, Ampeis for being underhanded and not caring much about the actions of his questionable mercenaries and for doing anything for a profit, and Bauvrenerk for selling anything without questioning where it came from or how it was aquired. Overall it seems this mystery was an accident that arose from the irresponsibility of all parties involved. If anyone is to be arrested for this tragedy, it would be Ampeis. His hiring of questionable people and disregard for who is hurt because of his actions is loathsome. It is indirectly his fault for Tuttys death, because it was his mercenaries who killed him. Slaughtering creatures for profit without caring of the consequences or who hes hiring to do the job is irresponsible, and he must pay the price for his overlooking things for profit.

Poor Tutty

#29

Person(s) you wish to arrest:
I would detain Pernos for further questioning on charges of Criminal Negligence & Involuntary Manslaughter

Version of how they did it, why they did it:
I believe Pernos accidentally let Tutty consume a potion and killed poor tutty…or at least turned him into something unrecognizable or made him dissappear. This is derived from many accounts of people saying that he toys with potions often and is always “here or there” leaving his animals unattended for some time. I do not believe he had a motive, or any premeditate plan. I think this incident was completely accidental and his embarrassment is keeping him from telling all the facts.

Several men were quoted saying things of the sort. This particular section tipped me toward this conclusion:

“It's a sad day when a man's pet cannot even live it's life without being thought of as dinner or a mushroom theif or being chased by griffons or worrying about which potion he shouldn't... never mind that. What? Oh it's nothing. Tutty just always had a curious nature about him and we've had a few close calls with some of my concoctions he he he. Anyway, moving on-“

There was no intentional motive to kill poor Tutty…I think if the owner didn’t care for Tutty he would have sold him for meat.

#30

I would arrest no one because everyone played a part in Tutty's demise.

Due to the constant badgering by Uno, Pernos decided it would be best to dispose of the potions he had on hand just in case Uno decided to stop by when he wasn't at home. Pernos ambled off toward the Nymph's pond to dispose of his potions. Tutty, being a curious porgus, followed him. Like the bellepigs, Tutty also had a fondness for mushrooms and rooted along happily with his porcine cousins munching on the tender fungi as they unearthed them.

Kalio's Griffon enters the forest hot on the trail of bellepigs. Ampeis, having been denied renting the griffon, decides fate has favored him and grabbing up his shovel and mushroom sack follows the griffon into the forest. The presense of the griffon sends the bellepigs squealing in panic and running in all directions. Pernos, startled from his potion disposal, confronts Ampeis while the griffon flies off chasing bellepigs. During the commotion no one notices that Tutty, rooting near Pernos' potion disposal area, has ingested a rather oddly glowing fungi recently uprooted by the fleeing bellepigs and has been transformed into a mushroom. Ampeis continues to gather the recently abandoned 'srooms, popping the morphed Tutty into the bag right along with the other fungi. His sack full he sells his gathered spoils to Baevrunerk. Baevrunerk takes the sack of mushrooms, including the morphed Tutty, to the Dukaki camp to do as Shugo's do...make kinah.

Once the effects of the tainted mushroom wore off, the Dukaki were quite surprised and pleased to find they had a plump porgus in the middle of their sack of mushrooms. Needless to say, it was not such a pleasant day for Tutty.

MOTIVE - Unfortunate sequence of events

EVIDENCE:

Uno - It's bad enough that old hermit wouldn't sell me the pig, but then for it to be wasted on those kobolds I had gone out there to try and reason with Pernos once more for the pig. He always said it was a troublesome pig, getting into his potions and chasing his Fungie pals around. I guess I'm not the only one who finds their taste irresistible.

Kalio- He ran off a few hours ago.. My griffon only chases wild porgus, he wouldn't go after Tutty.

Pernos- Tutty just always had a curious nature about him and we've had a few close calls with some of my concoctions .

Ampeis - Pernos is always out here preaching to me about how the forest is a sacred place and my killing and digging. Funny thing is, that old man dumps so many potions into his "friends" and into the forest floor I'm surprised we're not all morphed into something else by now. As soon as Uno sniffed out that Pernos was able to tame the creatures he used for
his dishes, he was over there every day harassing the old man. Heck, I even saw him going that way a few times when Pernos was on one of his disappearing acts. I've tried to get Kalio to rent me that griffon of his a few times now. That thing can sniff out a bellepig a mile away!"

Baevrunerk - Dukaki like mushrooms too; Shugo buys the mushrooms from Ampeis and sells them to humans, dukaki- also related being chased by the griffon

#31

I would arrest and further question Pernos because as was stated he was from what I had gathered, wasn't exactly a people person. He kept to himself along the Agaric Spore Road, studying his tomes, concocting potions. I feel he had the motive to keep he’s town small in population, and did not want any growth. Each person in the story had a threat to his own self claim on the surround town and forest. Uno was a threat because he was popular and a great cook, a crafter like himself, but no one was giving him praise as great potion maker, I found the opinion, ” As I ventured towards Akarios Village to speak with Uno, a popular chef who takes great pride in being the incumbent winner of the annual Sanctum Cooking Contest.” By getting him out of the picture he would have respect for his crafting and could stop the surround hunt of animals for a dinner. “It's a sad day when a man's pet cannot even live its life without being thought of as dinner or a mushroom thief or being chased by griffons or worrying about which potion he shouldn't.” This statement gives me a thought of guilt... never mind that. What? Oh it's nothing. Kalio situation was of his disrespect to other by not controlling his pet which was a concern with most but mostly Pernos,” I've heard some of the villagers complain that he gets into their things and chase their pets around but there's not much I can do about it. He is tame, but even tamed animals retain their wild instincts. Getting rid of him would solve the problem of a griffon running wild. The rest, Baevrunerk and Ampeis where threats to his livelihood by the business they conducted, could place them as suspect could get rid of them. If someone were to call into question of their business transaction they could be stopped and ran out of town. I believe Pernos had a love for Tutty, but this one act could stop the things and people he disliked and place him in control of the surrounding area.

Aight i reckon Pernos did it

Motive:
Pernos' motive was probably testing his potions as to how his always playing with Alchemy.

Evidence:
When interviewed, he stopped while saying "or worrying about which potion he shouldn't...". This statement was most likely referring to himself. Although his "pet" died and its sad how his pet is always being targeted, as he stated, he just went onto the next subject of catching the criminal "Anyway, moving on-"

How he did it:
He most likely was testing a new potion. His usually cooped up in his research so after creating a new potion how would he know if it was effective? Taking a look around he spots Tutty and uses his new potion on Tutty. Tutty was fine... for a second and then BLEW UP (this removed all his insides yuck! =/)! He took Tutty down into Dukaki settlement and dumped Tutty into a boiling pot of oil to frame Uno the chef who would easily take the blame because of the verbal brawl they had before Tutty was found dead. All evidence was easily erased by a his 'sagely wisdom'. Too bad he wasn't a people's person and therefore leaked faults many times in the interview.

Arrest Ampeis and Brevrunerk.

Here's how it all went down:

Uno claimed that neither Pernos nor the pig were around, but that he'd gone to try to buy Tutti, as he'd done in the past. Ampeis's testimony has him going back "a few times" that day, and the fact that Uno was in the area is corroborated. Obviously, he couldn't find Pernos, and he'd have no reason to go back several times if Tutti were around left unattended.

When Ampeis saw Uno going back and forth, he started to worry that Pernos was getting close to agreeing to supply tame mushrooms and bellepigs to Uno. This would destroy his business. He must have gone to talk to Pernos himself.

Tutti had a history of getting into Pernos' potions, as evidenced by both Pernos's and Ampeis's testimony. Tutti must have gotten into a potion and got turned into a mushroom. Ampeis knew this as evidenced by his testimony. He mentioned the potions and suggested several times that Tutti could have been transformed by them. When he went to talk to Pernos, he must have found the transformed Tutti, and recognized him for what he was. He knew that Uno was desperate to have Tutti so he figured he’d have an easy sale.

He captured the transformed Tutti, then contacted his partner to take the transformed porgus back and deal with Uno. However, with Uno's history, Baevrunerk figured that he could get more from the Dukaki. He packed the transformed Tutti in his cube and set off to deal, hoping to fetch a better price, and keep the extra profit for himself.

On the way there, the griffon smelled the Porgus from "a mile away". He started harrassing Baevrunerk trying to get at Tutti. Baevrunerk panicked and dropped his cube, with the transformed Tutti inside, while running away. The griffon must have been confused when it was able to get the cube open and found a mushroom instead of the porgus. We know that the griffon must have given up, because the dead porgus was found with the dukaki.

In his testimony, Baevrunerk seemed very nervous. He also seemed very frustrated with the griffon, and he kept insisting that HE didn't kill Tutti. Technically, he didn't kill Tutti himself, but his actions did result in Tutti's death, because eventually, the potion wore off, and Tutti transformed back, surrounded by a bunch of hungry Dukaki.

While the death was technically an accident, it happened as a result of the theft of Tutti, and the attempt to sell stolen goods by both Ampeis and Baevrunerk, making them responsible for his death.

Accused Suspect: Uno

Motive: Uno wanted to use Tutty for a dish for the Sanctum Cooking Contest

Evidence: Uno was last found in the Agaric Spore Road at the time frame when he saw Tutty disappeared. Therein lie the problem. No one can really vouch for Uno past the point of the Agaric Spore Road, but the monsters that were there. The legitimacy of Uno’s alibi soon breaks when it comes to passing the Campsite before the Agaric Spore Road. Simply because Pernos can be found diligently immersed in his research, all Uno has to do to secure Tutty is through baiting the porgus to follow him. Being a cook, knowing what will entice his meals is nearly elementary. However, being found with the porgus in hand, the Dukaki ambushed Uno, at the entrance of the Kabarah Strip Mine. He could only escape back to the mercenary campsite porgus-less and fabricated his alibi to fend off suspicion.

Well that is my take on it.

#35

The answer to the whodunnit question is simple. No one needs to be arrested. As was stated quite famously by Sherlock Holmes, eliminate the impossible, and whatever is left, no matter how improbable, is the answer.

Explanation: Uno has nothing to gain by giving the porgus to the Dukaki. The suspicion it would bring on him would ensure he would never be able to trade with Pernos and obtain mushrooms. It would also not help him in the cooking contest. had the porgus been simply missing, then maybe he would be a viable suspect, but because it was found in the Dukaki camp, I see no benefit for Uno.

Kalio, or rather his griffon, would also not be a viable suspect. Had the griffon scared the porgus off by chasing it around, it would have caused enough of a commotion to attract attention and therefore there would be witnesses.

Pernos himself, though there is something very odd about him, would not give his own porgus away to the Dukaki. The talk about the potions, would be the first thing I would want more answers to, however, Pernos has no motive for having his porgus killed. This does lead in part to final conclusions however.

Baevrunerk and Ampeis both would have no motive for this either. They hunt the wild porgus for profit. Stealing Tutty would not benefit them. They could easily sell wild porgus tot he Dukaki if there were profit in it. Selliing Tutty to the Dukaki would in the long run, hurt their business as they want to keep their dealings with the Dukaki a secret.

This leaves only one asnwer, an accident. I surmise that Tutty wandered off on his own and got too close tot he Dukaki settlement and found himself on a roasting spit. This may have something to do with the potions Pernos mentioned, causing poor Tutty to wander off, but this isnt clear. But still, the only viable answer, even though improbable, is that Tutty simply wandered off for whatever reason and became dinner.

Therefore, no one needs to be arrested, though pernos needs to be interviewed more about the potion use.

#36

The motives were almost too simple. Every single suspect had something to gain with the disappearance of Tutty; except one person. Pernos used his potions to disguise Tutty to protect him from Uno's cooking pot, Ampeis and Baevrunerk'ss greed, and Kalio's peace of mind from complaints from local Elyos constantly asking, "Where's Tutty"?

In the end, Pernos in his absent minded way of getting stuck in research forgot he transformed Tutty with his potions to hide his beloved pet. All the suspects agreed on how much Pernos kept to himself and how much he focused on his pet. Pernos was also extremely emotion on the loss of his pet and was quick to blame the other suspects where as the other suspects all pointed to him.

Case closed. (by the way Tutty is the fungi boncing a Pernos' feet constantly)

Lolwut? If you look at the individual entries you'd see that most of them are just one short paragraph, and shorter than a lot of the forum posts I see people make. Took 5-10 minutes for my entry

EDIT: well not "most"... "some"
