The history of Atreia is as inspiring and immersive as the game itself, and every now and then we receive a token of wisdom and insight from some of those who are most knowledgeable of it. A new chapter each has been added to the Elyos and Asmodian background stories. The experiences and writings of Rafaela, a human living in the bright and vivid Elysea, can be found in the Elyos part of our website’s Background section. If you however wish to rather explore the history of Atreia from an Asmodian perspective, head on over to Kineas, an ascended Asmodian Daeva who will certainly invite you to learn more of his people’s tough struggle.

Thanks for the update, wonder if this will hit the NA site before the the first expansion?

I don't think we'll see -any- updates to the NA site as it is right now. My feeling is there will be a merger coming soon and we'll have a single NCWest site. For now, I consider the EU site to be the fore-runner for that.

Nice to get some more lore, always nice to get new info to pick up the middle of the week

A very interesting read. Who knew that the Balaur went from strong disorganised to strong organised along with a change in appearance practically over night.

I'm tempted to save all of the history chapters out of game, and if there will be, history books in game, and roleplay as a historian of some sort, sounds like a pretty interesting character background for Roleplaying if you ask me.

My character shall be Siris Holyway, Eye of Atreia, Successor to Historian Rafaela!

Interesting...

Now of course there isn't just one eye to the face of Atreia, there has to be another, I take the place as the Eye for the Elyos, so who will play the other Eye. The Eye for the Asmodians.

I can't seem to understand this. The chinese version will come before the EU/US version. But it seems like they stopped working on the EU/US version to launch the chinese version.

My point is that did all the ones working on the english version take a break?
I bet they don't all speak chinese, so why can't they launch the english version around the same time as the chinese?

So, the gist I get of this is:
The Elyos believe that the Balaur were initially supported and favoured by Aion, and then turned on him.
The Asmodians believe they are just evil creatures who wanted Aion's power.

I am intrigued! Were the Balaur 'God's favoured children' or were they not?

Aion is a Korean developed MMORPG... it will arrive in that market first... concurrent localization has been taking place since very early on in the development cycle, and other markets will see their release in (approximately) 2 month intervals after the Korean launch next year...
