The first to technically kill him was a horde europian guild if I recall correctly. And then at least one more killed them.
That guild was called 'Nihilium'. Also Kel was killed by several guilds which I am pretty sure about.

Ermm back to get on topic, how long did they spend killing that boss? after 2 min it switches where it had lost nealy all of his health...

But until you have the encounters down, they can be very difficult. Granted, they'll never evolve once you're figured out the gimmicks, but it's quite fun to figure them out.
Several guilds cleared it before they released TBC, people just stopped caring after Nihilium finished it first, however that doesn't mean it didn't happen, tbh, it was one of the best PvE encounters in any game I have ever played, challenging, interesting, and the bosses had quirks that made them interesting.

However, that still doesn't change the fact that PvE encounters, after you've got them down, are no longer fun, or interesting at all, and making more is a annoyingly long process, which can hurt your game if you make the instances to easy. ( look at WotLK WoW. )

As for the evolving boss fights, Blizzard tried that with TBC in its beta phase, a few of the bosses would change their scripts depending on what the players were doing, and how much health they had, etc etc, and it made the encounters actually really interesting/challenging, however the vast majority of the PvE crowd whined that it wasn't fun, and so it got removed.

Wicked video. Is this a world boss in the abyss or in a dungeon instance? Just to clarify something I heard about endgame in Aion as well; are all raid bosses out in the open for both factions to grab at the same time? So if one side is fighting a boss, the other faction can come in and wipe the raid by engaging with other players?

Yeah, Nihilum! Nihilum and Risen were the hardcore back in the day. Pretty sure they kept top 2 for all of BC until sunwell was released and Risen broke up...My buddy Speakeasy seems to have revived the guild

the Kel'Thuzad kill looks like an accurate set of data, though

God I've read 5 pages of QQing about "I hope all the bosses aren't tank and spank " and i had to stop and comment. Jesus people the game is supposed to be a PvP game, not WoW clone 57 about retarded *** raiding on mobs that don't think and react to the situation.

I'm all for no raiding. None. Let the QQers roll I wanna PvP damnit.

Errmm.. What do you mean, it has the date of the Kel kills as well which guilds, those that are grey'ed out do no longer exist. that is from naxx40, which was the subject of this convo as well if I am not mistaken (ok we drifted off topic but still..) You can just click on the Guild for more info on the other instances..

Somewhat agree, though... I LOVE PvE (speaking as quite a hardcore WoW raider for the past 5 years, had little to no interest in PvP for the majority of the game) and am hoping for a decent amount of content, but only insofar as it's balanced within the overall structure of the Abyss PvPvE model. I am not interested in only working through scripted encounters over and over again, nor am I interested in just PvP. To be perfectly honest I am hoping there will be some scripted instance encounters/dungeons to work through, but only to supplement the overall feeling of the ebb-and-flow PvP style of the Abyss. Could be completely off here, but we'll see. It will be to their detriment to ignore one aspect for the sake of the other however, as people have mentioned, if nothing else there's a very large lesson to be learned from WAR, etc.

for a game to be successful, it needs players; and to keep players, it's going to need endgame content; pvp gets repetitive, and so do raids; however, plopping in a few raids is a good idea to keep people involved in the game. As you saw with WAR and AoC, just PvP endgame DOESN'T WORK. Both of those games are dead now, and lack of endgame is why.

As far as the PvP raid encounters go, that's a terrible idea, it would be exploited (I guarantee this) and extremely cheap, I'd rather not deal with other scrubs while I'm trying to down a boss, and have that boss be somewhat entertaining and challenging as opposed to "gank boss and hope other scrubs don't come in and wipe us" sort of thing. It's a terrible idea tbh, and while it does sound cool, I promise on your third wipe to PvP in a PvE raid, you'd be wanting to quit.

What I'd really like to see is more RvR dungeons, basically, think of a 40 man raid, however, both sides can enter it through different entrances, and there are a ton of ways to run into the other side and fight them, so you never are really "safe" and constantly have to keep your guard up.

.
Play DAoC its just like that. RvR dungeon thats open to the other side. Gets hairy in there with stealth groups running around. They love to camp boss spawns and wait till your about halfway then pop out on you .

Try darkfall, should get plenty of pvp there, its nothing but pvp and the pve sucks toe jam.

Really the whole comparing to wow is a joke, wow boss fights are a joke compared to EQ. Even today 10 years later EQ still knocks the socks off wow raid encounters.

I think the fight was ok, i think they could have handled it abit diffrently. From the directional AE's (looked like anyway) and it seemed the boss had spawns running out.

But all in all if that is what to expect from a 5 man boss iam impressed and looking forward to a full raid encounter. Who cares if its a tank and spank its the rush of getting past it
