achievements weren't the least bit hard, we did most of them without trying half the time, none of them were "truly hard". DBM told more then cds for skills, threat meters were just making it easy, since when was it hard to not pull aggro without one? I raided with 0 addons and it was still completely and totally easy. no skill WoW dropout? there is skill in wow? |

man, reading this thread all the way thru made me just have to voice my opinion.
I would be totally estatic if aion doesn't allow addons. If they do allow interface options, they need to put it into the game themselves. Reason...well first off this is a PvPvE game. That means you will encounter other players thru you trials not just the game. So why should you allow people to use addons to modify there game play if its not allowable or handy to everyone else. No you can download them but alot of new players wont know about it, till they get yelled at and called a noob in general chat somewhere. So by making every little extra feature in the game for one to use, it simply seperates players more by skill and knowledge than some "easy mode" or "cheat" option. The reasons i say this isn't because of DBM or some other essential raiding addon that wow allowed and everyone who played it is griping about. I am talking about how everyone got lazy when playing these online games uses all types of addons. Why i remember back in eq how you didn't have a mini map for most of your zones. Sure you could go online and find player done maps, but for the most part you had to learn to navigate your but around the zone. Remember which big rock, or cliff, or tree to turn at. The game felt real. Then came wow..and the mini map. I played wow since it went live in late 04. I saw the changes, that attitudes, the mentality and the problems these so called addons created. The last year of wow was a real disappointment. WHY..cause of all the jerks and elitists in the game. I personally hated raiding, not because it was challenging(more of a lack of challenge to be honest), but because how boring they were, how long there were, and how pointless of a gear grind they were. After all, solo your way to end cap to learn to group in big massive groups. I have been yelled at for out tanking the main tank who obviously wasn't generating enough agro, or for not using a full heal instead of a regen whent he tank was at 75% or higher health. But what really showed me how pointless the game has become is the reliance that people have become on addons. When your playing the game, and you happen to just open up and ask guildies..who are in a small, family or friendly oriented guild, or laid back casual guild, or hell any guild for that much, a simple question, you get some stupid remark. For example, most days now, if your out grinding out some quest, but you can't remember the location of a boss, or where to go exactly and you simply ask in guild for directions, tips, or knowledge. Whats the first thing they respond back with...no its not a "nope sorry, i can't help you" or a "don't know", or even a "let me ask someone i know", its simply...."get quest helper you noob", or "search the web you tard". This was from guildies.....guildies. Over the years i would expect that from barrens chat, but not from guildies. Hell, people have become so dependant on the simplest of addons, that they seem to forget to navigate there way around, memorize quests, learn locations, or forget how to be helpful. WHY...cause they used some addon that guided them so they just followed some arrow, using a minimap that showed them which direction they were going in, and hit alt4 to get that macro to work that they programmed to kill some quest mob easier. Now the redundancy of that all is the same guildies that made those comments were the first to ask(or beg) for help, assistance, or to demand for a group all when that addon they relied on wasn't updated, or was bugging, or simply didn't work. Sadly wow is easy mode. its a game designed for the mass market. Here you can work a real job, and still be at the same lvl as your friends, because lvling thru the useless content is so easy to do on your own. However, once you hit 80, welcome to your new non payed job so you can keep up with those friends. Oh yeah...the only way to enjoy this game is to raid every single night. WHEREs the fun in that? What happened to logging in, grouping up with your friends, and going to go to some random place so you can laugh your cares of the real world away. Oh yeah..you sped thru those lvls because getting from 1 to 80 only takes about 5 weeks of 40 hours of game play. I should know..i did it in under 5 weeks with a protection spec'd paladin, while working, and taking care of 2 kids under the age of 2. WHY..oh yeah cause i knew all the darn quests from memorizing them when i did them without an addon and oh yeah...redoing them over and over and over again in a 4 year period. To all those eq nostalics out there...lots of for ya. I still haven't found a Game that remotely comes close to the joys of eq(back in its prime), and actually looking forward to a game that will hopefully let me get close to playing something close to my favorite class from eq one..the berserker. Tho i also miss my kitting druid from back in the day too. Oh how i miss logging in to simply hang with friends and go find that perfect spot to camp for hours. |
