good boss design requires movement - for all classes. the engineer isn't a good example, since the best way to kill it is to ignore the steam nozzles.

I played wow btw. and downed everything but yogg+0 (stopped playing with the coloseum patch 3.2 or smthng) - the majority of wow pve isn't hard, only some encounters like mimiron - firefighter (i'm pretty sure its nerfed already now...).

wasn't able to experience things like divine fortress, outdoor dreadgion or s-grade pyrelord - but afaik these things were killed only a very very few times in korea/china.

wow raiding is so much harder that it isnt even a contest. However im talking end-game stuff here and it remains to be seen how hard it will get in Aion.

And yeah wow stuff was reeeealy hard when new content was released. Im sure you and your scrub guild managed to kill Muru after the blanket -30% hp nerf etc and that you did Firefighter after 20 nerfs but beleive me, Prenerf Muru was HARD. Firefighter was a hard achivment, heck even Freya 3 keepers was a really challenging fight in both 10 and 25 man.

Again im comparing end game stuff to aoin normal stuff so its not really a valid comparison.

And on another note, I love how location Rez is broken to nyerk, and just leads to more wipes.

Yes, the shear boredom and lack and any raid/party movement what so ever for 20 minutes is difficult to endure for most experienced WoW PvEers. Hardmode.

Sorry, but WoW sets the standard for PvE boss encounters - his comparision is fine.

PvE in this game is easy I'd actually prefer them to not require a set group and dps burn. Good PvE to me is challenging and good when based more on near flawless execution

No but id prefer bosses to not spam AoE abilities. Also the whole animation during rez needs to go, as it takes longer then a cast time on an AoE, resulting in you just dying over again at times.

Nothing I've seen compares to a giant purple monkey that heals to full when you use a hex, enchantment or condition spawning continual adds while standing in a room where 50% of attacks miss, you loose mana whenever you swing a weapon, you take damage whenever you move. Oh and the game has no tank classes or taunt mechanic so the enemys go straight for the squishiest targets and wang on them until they die.

To my knowledge noone has ever actually completed a legitimate kill of Abbadon, instead having to rely on glitches, pve-only skills and consumables - and the task itself is nigh impossible since they turned many of the normal skills into pve-only skills.

I hope you aren't talking about the Abbadon in Guild Wars, unless they've added some kind of new boss that I don't know about or jacked up his strength since the last time I cleared Nightfall.

Fitting in two Gaze of Fury on a X/Rt or Rt/X is a simple task along with a single interrupt when Mallyx tries to re-summon to 50% miss and -2 energy spirits. The 10 damage while moving and 50 damage when you block spirits can be avoided until the Gaze of Fury have recharged. Mallyx was a flawed encounter because if you built against him he was incredibly easy; passive defense (my first Mallyx kill had 3 Paragons) and spirits became much stronger tools than they already were. The 18 waves before him were far more difficult simply because most people would generally build against the Mallyx encounter, gimping themselves by not taking enchantments for fear of the random skill disable. It also didn't matter that he went for the soft targets first provided they kept a high health; one hit and you're knocked well out of his reach providing ample time for heals to recuperate the damage.

Anyway...

I agree with the OP. Yes anyone with half a brain can get out of the way of an AoE, it wasn't difficult in WoW and it isn't difficult here. It's more that once again Aion proves to be another game where in a PuG situation melee are unfavored because you know some people won't know what to do and just stand there taking the hits. Dead DPS do zero damage, sure the melee should do more damage but if they're idiots I'd rather have a bunch of ranged in my group so they don't die. At least WoW had Deadly Boss Mods so the bright blue text and audio warnings would scream at them to get away but odds are here you'll have those melee watching their skill bars waiting for skills to recharge instead of paying attention to what the enemy is doing. In an organized situation with your Legion, okay, no big deal, but it's a PuG nightmare. Randoms will favor the ranged classes for the sake of safety over speed any day and I can't blame them.
