The problem is that the adds have a HUGE aggro radius, on top of their insane movement speed. So any strategy that involves dying or leashing is not going to work.

We've tried having the tank aggro the adds, but healers quickly pull aggro from having to heal him through the boss's AEs and adds' damage.

We've also tried having a glad offtank and AOE them down, but again, healers pull aggro from spam healing him, on top of keeping the tank and his healer up...

It feels like there's still some trick to this fight that we're missing. Offtank adds till they despawn?

This fight reminds me a bit of Madame Bovariki on the Steel Rake...who spawns a level 50 hero add, while she herself is a 42 hero. If the content was truly designed to be level-appropriate, I don't think the 2nd wave is meant to be killed, but rather endured.

Can the elites be CC'd? If so, it would tone down the difficulty of this fight considerably, as 2 targets can be perma-CC'd by a single Sorc. If not, then the fight really comes down to burst capabilities and coordination with root skills, and a capable offtank.

You can't CC any of the adds AFAIK. At least the first wave can't be CCed.

Well, even most "un-CCable" elites can still be rooted, or at least that's been my experience with trying out different forms of CC on stuff that can't be treed. You may want to give creative use of Winter Binding and Root a try next time and see if you can't buy yourself a bit of extra time - even being able to down a single one of the elite adds should make the rest of the fight manageable with judicious use of Word of Quickness (although that could very easily screw you over if he spawns another wave at 25%).

He does spawn waves at every 25%. They go up one dot for every wave. It's not really the waves that's the true issue, it's the fact the AoE stuns everyone in a 30m radius and then follows up with a massive AoE slash. It's manageable on it's own without the adds, but once the adds come in, it's very problematic.

Its pretty easy. First adds arent bad at all for anyone I think. The 50% adds are a bit more rough. All we did was run the Templar(myself) off with the chanter. He just kept me alive on his own and we kept the boss AEs away from the adds/cleric. There are no adds at 25%, just extra AEs.

If that's the case, it means you can burn Word of Quickness at 50% too. Useful information, that.

How hard do the Elites at 50% hit for on plate? Our setup is kinda melee heavy so this might be that one fight that we can take advantage of our 2 glads. If they hit kinda hard, it would be troublesome if a glad had problems holding 2 adds because I'm sure me being the 3rd dps (ranger) cannot tank a 5 star elite.

Question Brunnor: What were the other 3 classes in your group for the fight? My group make up is similar to urs (temp, chanter, cleric), but our DPS consists of assassin, ranger, sorcerer. If you had a glad, I can see how this would be relatively easy (at least, easier). I have not tried this yet, but I am thinking it would be tough for me (assassin) to off-tank the 3 adds, even with the cleric healing. I am just curious if you had a glad off-tank or not. Thanks.
