Really don't understand the people crying unfair. So, you think someone who spends a lot of time in the Abyss and has a good kill/death ratio shouldn't be rewarded? It's like most things in life, if you want the reward you have to put in the work to get it. Does this mean that casual or non-competetive people can't have fun? Of course not. I've had fun in other games and have never been in the top 5 guilds on the server or have the best PvP record. It all boils down to enjoying the game for what it is. If I have fun playing with my legion and enjoy the game and my class I could care less what my Abyss rank is. I would love to gain higher ranks and be able to purchase the awesome weapons and equipment, but I'm not gonna quit or cry unfair if I don't get it. If your goal for playing this game is to be one of the highest ranking officers and have the best Abyss gear you had better devote a lot of time to learning your class and actually killing things in the Abyss. It's either that or learn to live with disappointment.

I'm confused. So this means that if I was an Elyos Supreme Commander, I would be the number 1 pvp'er on my server, at least by abyss point counting?

Hi I dont know if this has been mentioned.. and my math could be wrong... but I just did a (Total Pts Needed / Points-per-kill) calculation and it looks like this:
![]() Rank 8 - 10 kills required Rank 7 - 25 Rank 6 - 33 Rank 5 - 50 Rank 4 - 66 (See the trend here so far?) Rank 3 - 77 Rank 2 - 83 Rank 1 - 85 Star Off. 1 - 100 Star Off. 2 - 109 Star Off. 3 - 112 (And here's where it gets interesting...) Star Off. 4 - 112 Star Off. 5 - 110 General - 106 Great General - 101 Commander - 94 SupCom - 87 Total kills required from zero to hero: 1360 This of course assumes you never die, Chuck Norris. So my question is why does after Star Officer 3 the number of kill required platues and then starts to trend downwards... Is this by design to accompany the limited number of ranked players? Or is this something that will get tweaked in 1.5? |

well if you are a high rank (like general+) you are getting announced in the zone when you enter. i believe that makes life harder ^^ and therefore you need less kills. but im not 100% sure what rank you need to be announced in the Area-chat.

The only way that this would work is if everyone you killed were the exact same rank as you. Im pretty sure that you dont get thousands of points every kill for killing while being an officer, you get thousands of points for killing an officer. Otherwise those that were the highest rank would get a huge amount of points for killing rank 9s while teh rank 9 would hardly get any points, and the gap between officers and soldiers would grow exponentially. You get less points for killing lower ranked players. So unless you kill someone your same rank the whole way this won't happen. Please don't post this kind of uninformed speculation. |

System seems fine to me I understand it like this, you go on a rampage like rambo at first gather up some points and ranks. The higher you get the more carefull you become, the more you try to organize so you dont die and the harder it gets. Eventually you hit some level you were aiming for, buy that sweet item and back down the ladder. Time to relax and go have some fun with your new item.
The more gear you get the higher you have to set your goal. Also trying to shoot to the top right off the bat will be hard because you dont have the gear to sustain it. It will be a long long time before someone sits at the top because there is not a single item that they would want to buy because the have everything already. More likely it would be time to just have fun with all your gear and fairly easy to maintain a medium rank at that point. |

I realize im being kinda lazy hear, not reading through 8 pages, but can multiple people share the top rank and the ones just below it? if so about how many? % wise or a set number?
nvm i read that article and it said 1 of each race for the number one rank :P Last edited by Jaszz; 07-25-2009 at 03:46 PM.. |

and K to D ratio... the points required is the minimum to be able to hold that rank and then it's all about K to D. (from what I can gather)

They should cut down on the positions per rank, but do the ranking for each class (e.g. Cleric Supreme Commander, Sorcerer Supreme Commander). This way natural class imbalances are controlled for.
